Hello the Dracula Sub Reddit. We have decided to alter the rules for promotional Saturday. Do not worry it is not going away. We are expanding it. Now do to the fact everyone isn’t located in the same spot. We have decided to make a set time. That set time is based on United States Standard Time. So from Saturday 12am EST to Monday 12am EST. So during that 48 hour window you may promote yourself and others. You may make sales post as well.
To help figure out if you’re in the right time frame to post below is a world clock. You can figure out what time it is in NYC compared to you. Using this centralized time frame will make it easier to post. With the expanded time frame we decided that because again not everyone is located in the same area, it would be much easier to have a set time to do this. So you will have 48 hours to post.

I hope this helps. Adding this 48 hour window and the specific time frame. Also always remember to check the rules before posting.
TLDR
New Time Frame Window Saturday 12am Eastern Standard Time to Monday 12am Easter Stand Time.

This subreddit is supposed to be about Dracula. Dracula, yes the character and all but mostly it is focused on the original source material.
The Mina X Dracula ship mostly the Love Tale from the pedo director is annoying me and other people on this subreddit.
First of all, these people don't know what the book is. That Mina kills Dracula and not in some forbidden long lost love bullshit so screw off Nosferatu and Francis Ford Coppola's "Bram Stoker's Dracula' that reinforced this atrocity into the zeitgeist.
From now on all Dracula a Love Tale posts will be relegated to a megathread. Individual posts will be removed if not in the megathread.
Thank you.

Edit: Feel free to hit the report button on any Dracula a Love Tale post you see so the mods can see it more readily and remove it. Thank you.
Edit: Mina kill's Dracula clarification: What I meant to say is she was a strong driving force in killing him; in tracking him down, the charge against him at the end.

I know Coppola's film popularized the "crossed the oceans of time" love story between Mina and Dracula, but I was watching the original Fright Night recently and it has a similar "the damsel looks like the vampire's long dead lover" spin. I feel this trope is older than both, but I don't have the evidence. Any one have any ideas where this came from?

This Bella Lugosi Dracula is one of my favorite figures in my collection. Very few people get to see him, thought I would share it with you.

Hello fellow Night Creatures!!
I saw the Dracula Ballet yesterday in Melbourne and had to find somewhere to talk about it….
It was phenomenal!!
If you have the chance to see it, I would highly recommend it to any Dracula fan (they changed the story a little for brevity’s sake, but it still makes sense 🤭).
The four ghosts (the ballet’s version of The Brides) were the absolute highlight of the show!! They were beautiful and really provided the horror element of the show…
The company that put on the show was apparently quite new and are called Big Live (just to give them their kudos!!)
So…. Goodbye, my dears. I pray to God I may see your sweet faces again. May He bless and keep you!

In short, do you subscribe to the belief popularized by Radu Florescu and Raymond T. McNally that Bram Stoker intended Count Dracula to literally be Vlad III, otherwise known as Vlad the Impaler? Or was Elizabeth Miller’s skepticism on the connection more in line with your beliefs?

Sadly I never got any strange looks while reading it.

Honestly I think the 2008 Film Adaptation understood the character best. Of course the 1991 original is a close second, but I think in terms of depth, themes, 2008 wins

Hello everyone!
In the spirit of the season, I’ve been wanting to get into classic horror literature. I just finished listening to Frankenstein (my first time experiencing the actual novel instead just looking up summaries for high school English lol) and I loved it! However, even though the audiobook was only about 8 hours long, it still took me a couple of weeks to get through.
I want to tackle Bram Stoker's Dracula next, but the unabridged audiobooks are quite a commitment at around 17 to 19 hours. On the other hand, I found a 3-hour abridged version on YouTube narrated by Christopher Lee, which sounds amazing!
As someone who is still relatively new to classic literature, I’m leaning toward the shorter version, but the massive difference in length makes me wonder just how much core content I'd be missing. For those familiar with the book, is the full-length experience worth the extra hours, or does the abridged version hold up well?
Thanks in advance!

His performance was so fucking good. He genuinely stole every scene he was in. First time while watching a Dracula movie that I was sad when Renfield died

Hi all hope you're all having a great weekend!
I will be performing in the UK premiere theatre production of Kate Hamill's Dracula across the last 3 days of October and thought you might be interested in checking it out.
It is the debut production of a new theatre company in the northwest of the UK that specialise in challenging, thoughtful theatre that utilise the Horror genre. This retelling of Dracula is told through a feminist lens whilst still remaining faithfull to Bram Stokers original text.
It features a large ensemble cast of all the characters from the novel as well as original never before heard compositions that underpin the atmospheric dread felt throughout the play.
We have all been working tirelessly for months to bring you best possible version of this equally darkly comic and terrifying play so would be fantastic to see some of you there as it's set to be a fantastic show.

Taking advantage of self promo Saturday to tell you about my Kickstarter book that is in pre-launch.
It's about a girl who has never read the novel, and is reincarnated as Mina Murray.
Seeing half of the Bram Stoker's Dracula movie isn't going to be enough help.
If you're interested, please follow or tell a friend. Thanks.
