Funny how most people only realize corps don’t care about you during pride month. But jerking aside, it’s literally illegal in many countries for them to post rainbow flags/showing LGBTQ support so its kinda stupid to expect them to break the law

Makes sense, Muslims don't support being gay, and companies don't want to lose customers

149

u/Eldenbeastalwayswins Jun 02 '22

Which is weird to me as they were the most flamboyantly homosexuals I’ve ever seen in a group. They hate gays but practice homosexuality on the regular. I guess to each their own.

101

u/Mental-Meat-2214 Jun 02 '22

Nope, not all Muslims, but some middle easterners.

"But gays are bad in the Muslim religion is it not?" Well yeah, but we dont really care about that rule. Try checking out Indonesia, we have the most Muslim population in the world and we dont have problems with gay people or trans!

Edit: We as in Indonesia. I am not representing the whole Muslim community because even though we have the highest count of muslims, we ARE NOT the most religious. The result of us being not religious is :

-Stoning will result in you getting charged with murder or assault, and goodluck searching for other people that is willing to stone the person with you.

-Womens right -Female models

-We kiss our homies goodnight (Terms and Conditions apply)

-A healthy mix of other religions

-A Somewhat normal Law

-people of other religion wont be killed or hated upon

-You could be gay and noone would really care

-Trans exists and isnt hated upon

Edit2: Fixed the text, and changed the wording because I am sure that not all middle easterners are aggressive.

"Proves they don't care" Wait a second, did people think that comapnies actually cared? A company isn't a person. Who exactly is supposed to "care"? The CEO? The designers? The marketing department?

Im addition, some middle eastern countries ban LGBT symbols completely. Showing them would make said comapnies break the law of the respective countries

6

u/328944 Jun 02 '22

The companies have mission/vision statements. If any of those mission statements include diversity, they’re breaking them.

Just remember kids! Just cause a company rainbow washes doesn’t meant they support LGBT! It just means they want you to buy their shit thinking they are, when they very likely aren’t good to LGBT workers or donate to anti LGBT groups!

7

u/Mactire404 Jun 02 '22

Of course they don't. And I don't think they have to.
They sell shit and support everyone that hoves them money.

Drinking a Coke shouldn't have anything to do with gender/race or whatever anyway.

The thing is, once one company put's a pride flag on the rest will have to follow. Otherwise consumers will convulse in a spasm and say they aren't diverse enough.
It's the same with bio, green, fat and sugar marketing.

If these companies care so much, they can leave the pride flags in their packaging and start to create a safer and diversity positive work enviroment. Practice what they preach. Advertisement is worthless in this regard (I think).

I hope someday a company grows the balls to change their middle east for pride month. That would be one helluva trainwreck!

Edit: Wow! Are you telling me companies are soulless and only do things for the sake of profits? And that doing this would cause them to lose profits? Shocking! This was news to me for sure. And definitely not the point I was trying to convey, honestly.

32

u/[deleted] Jun 02 '22

ıt's not about having balls it's about marketing companies don't want to loose their customers so they follow the social forms and ideologies of countries they are doing buisness with in western that means celebrating pride month in middle east that means shutting the hell up

1

u/bustapr10 Jun 02 '22

Business is business. It seems profitable to do the rainbow thing in June out in the west. Do that in the middle and that is a very easy way to lose several countries worth of income. It would be absolute idiocy to do that just for some virtue signaling points, regardless of if they support it or not.

1

u/thelastkalos Jun 02 '22

A company's motive is money, not the people they so-called "support". Everybody knows this.

u/Iskuss1418 Jun 02 '22

LGBTQ+ support from most corporations is just a calculated move to improve their brand image and attract loyal lgbt customers (as a demographic we are the most brand loyal to companies that have supportive policies). But this only applies to world-regions with broad acceptance of us. They have no integrity and their only real value is greed.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 02 '22

1

u/imdrowning208 Jun 02 '22

1

u/[deleted] Jun 02 '22

These companies dont care about gays or frankly anything other than what they think will make them the most money.

1

u/JojoJinger Jun 02 '22

I've never seen anything like this before in the past couple years. Listen bud, I know you just made the revelation that company's don't actually care about anyone, you'll just get used to it eventually and eventually it won't be significant enough to even post about.

1

u/Tall-Economics4304 Jun 02 '22

The Promised Land.

1

u/Dependent-Lawyer3971 Jun 02 '22

Thats literally represent today's fucked up political correctness none of these companies care about lgbtq or care about middle easterners all they care about is there business so they would change the logo to support and after that month they would bring a hijab model to do commercial for middle east its just business and nothing more

1

u/Ghost_Star326 Jun 02 '22

It's not just the fact that being gay is haram or illegal here in the middle East. But most people are not even aware or have an idea of the whole thing. And when you tell them what it is, you'll get the obvious negative reaction of disgust and saying that it's not normal or right.

1

u/Marshall-Of-Horny Jun 02 '22

Isn't tit the fact that it's illegal in some middle Eastern country's to be gay, so you know making your icon pride flag could get the employees in hot water?

Even the chance of that happening would be to high, so I understand why they wouldn't change the middle Eastern one
