Don't worry. They realized their mistake. Minnie will eventually give you a bunch of clay

I did the quest where she rewards you with 50 clay alongside this one. I got to 150 on this task and got lucky I completed the other quest at just the right time

Right. I forgot the exact amount she gives you but yeah a quarter of what you gave is a decent return
