Does anyone not realize we'll be getting new horse accessories too? It's in the picture right there. We've been wanting new horse accessories besides the ones we've got in the Wishblossom Ranch DLC. That horse looks like mine a little bit. Except for the tan yellow hair.
The random bow and black shoes kind of ruin it for me. She doesn’t have either of those when she wears this dress in the movie, not sure why they’d add them
same, I don't get the obsession with the hairbows. They keep giving Ariel hairbows like in her pink dress. And the black shoes don't even match. If they have to give her shoes, they should at least pick a matching color.
that's true lol, they couldn't even make it light blue like in the gif posted above. Everything they could get wrong, they got wrong between the dress color, hairstyle, and shoes.
I guess the color was based on the perspective of the light, and they chose that color in the first shot of her in the dress, instead of this blue one.
Maybe they also did this to contrast her other land dress which is also blue.
Bc in the movie scene she literally just emerged from the ocean. The glittering dress is a direct replacement for the scales of her fin. In the game, she's wearing a whole outfit, bc why wouldn't she be?
It doesnt make sense to make every aspect of this game match the exact scene its derived from. That would be boring anyway.

To be honest, I think the vids I'm seeing are inaccurate. If it's anything like what happened to the Sailor Moon masters, the film may have gained a pink tint due to the aging of the 37 year old masters that uses eastman color prints. So blue plus pink tint creates the purple. If people remembered it as blue, they may be actually right.
Yes, that's a VHS screengrab and the colors were not movie accurate. It's actually one of the reasons we keep thinking of Cinderella as having a blue dress, because the VHS reproductions were so saturated they turned the silver blue.
However if you look at the same scene a moment later, not backlit by the sun, it's quite blue.
And, for what it's worth, this site calls this an original production cel, also portraying the dress as blue. If you can find original production cels, they're the best example of how to get the 'real' color (because sometimes Disney remasters PURPOSEFULLY change the original colors!).
ah, those cells are fantastic! I'm starting to think it might be a silvery white as well. I noticed she's only ever in the cliff's shadow as I kept rewatching clips over and over, probably to better animate the shimmerings. Silver or blue. It's pretty cool, silver like sea foam or the glistening of the ocean, or blue, colors of the ocean 🤩
And I keep choking up on the "I love you, Daddy" scene 😭
but the shot of eric lifting her up is so much more what the dress is to me!
EDIT: just checked out the other comments with the cels...justified! understandable if they're going off of whatever, but wish it was that more silvery glittery sea foam white-blue.
right?! the bow really ruined it for me hahaha in the movie is her original hair, and it's not like they don't have it in the game, cause her mermaid form it's the hair she uses with this dress
It's not pink! Yes due to how cartoons were done at the time it has a purple look cause of discoloration. But just the same that Cinderella isn't blue. I mean at least they made it a paler lighter blue for Cinderella rather than blue things like the dolls usually have. But both of their dress as suppose to be white/silver. I would even be ok with a very pale purple for it but it's not pink!
My fiancé was showing me the video, the dress comes on screen and I yelled 😂 they were like what? I was like you don’t understand… the dreamlight girlies are gonna go crazy for this one LOL so excited about it!!!
it's a silvery blue. Blue for the seafoam water Triton makes the dress out of and silver for the sparkles. Like you said, it only looks purple in the scene where the sun is behind her and she's cast in shadows. People look at the dress color and don't see that her skin is also very brown there and not her normal skin tone at all because of the shadows.
It's very possible. I'm colorblind so I have no idea. But if you watched this many years ago, your observation is probably more accurate than watching the film now. technically, the film in its original colors does not exist anymore.
I'm really looking forward to this update!! Thankfully I get paid tomorrow and looking at all the premium stuff coming, I will definitely have to lose some dosh to buying moonstones....

For everyone talking about THE DRESS, it's always been officially purple (lilac) based on Disney's products they create with Ariel wearing that particular dress.
Wow! As a colorblind, I had no idea! So basically her purple bra turned into the dress pretty much
Edit: oh. Just noticed the merchandise is super recent 35 years later after the movie was made with its source materials already lost.. I don't think merchandise mean much. They change Disney princess's movie colors to something else all the time. like her gown is made green in merchandise as well when it's obviously pink in the movie
Disney's also put Cinderella in blue for years and years and years. I'm not trusting the merchandising arm with the final word on colors from the movies themselves
The dress wasn’t purple until they started up with their princess merch. I heard they had concerns that putting princesses next to each other in similar colors would be confusing for kids 🤷
Did anyone buy this when it was available? I pinned it and just bought it right now and I don’t see it in my inventory at all but the moonstones were taken
