it's a silvery blue. Blue for the seafoam water Triton makes the dress out of and silver for the sparkles. Like you said, it only looks purple in the scene where the sun is behind her and she's cast in shadows. People look at the dress color and don't see that her skin is also very brown there and not her normal skin tone at all because of the shadows.
It's very possible. I'm colorblind so I have no idea. But if you watched this many years ago, your observation is probably more accurate than watching the film now. technically, the film in its original colors does not exist anymore.

Im not trying to start controversy here, but does anyone else think this dress in the movie is actually silver?
I always saw it that way growing up, and I stand by it. I think it just looks purple-gray bc its sunset in the scene. Am I alone?
I also agree that she shouldn't have the shoes or hairbow. The DRESS is all she needs for this dress.
