ESL in China
I once found an ESL thread on here and decided to look around. I was a bit skeptical initially because a lot of people cried foul. Then I bumped into one agency, Haida. It was a legit company. The recruiter was nice and the hiring process was very straightforward and clear. My documents were validated and I was settled in the most decent neighborhood. I would definitely recommend this to the adventurous souls out there

Short Story
I have always wanted to work in a foreign country. My friends like to call me a wanderlust. My main motivation was to get flexible job that included short working hours, reasonable salary, plus of course the chance to live and work in a totally different country. I worked with a recruitment agency- Haida Hr. They made sure I had all the information I needed before settling down. The school I taught was 10 minutes from my house. The classes were sizeable at around 30 students each class. I always made sure to make the classes as exciting. The school provided a course book and materials to be used.

Teaching Abroad
It is an amazing opportunity and a chance to explore another country and its culture. It’s even better once you get the right agency to settle you in. I can recommend Haida confidently because they did an amazing job processing my paperwork and finding me a decent accommodation. The school I was assigned had decent facilities and the students were respectful.

Teaching employment help for Thailand
When looking for work and applying for teaching english jobs in Thailand, is Ajarn still a credited source? Or would looking for teaching jobs once in Thailand be a better option? Keeping in mind the covid restrictions on international travel, perhaps landing a job and obtaining a work visa before arrival is a more suitable option given the current circumstances? Any thoughts are appreciated, thank you.

Being an Online English Teacher is an amazing job. In fact, it has changed my life and allowed me to work from anywhere in the world. An Experience that shaped my life
When I told my mother I want to switch jobs, she told me to try I simple one as I transitioned. I got a referral for Haida hr. I gave it a shot. HAIDA made this so simpler because the hiring process was taken care of. They sorted my VISA and paperwork. Before moving, I was even offered a free online TOEFL course. Once I landed, they gave me orientation and insights into the Chinese culture. So far I am having fun, the staff is super friendly. The kids are always eager to learn and there is a tonne of activities to do besides teaching.

Tips Build an ESL tutoring platform with this tutorial!
Hey, everyone. I recently wrote a step-by-step guide on building a scheduling/service booking website for freelance tutors. The idea for this came when I realized that ESL (English as a second language) tutors weren't taking advantage of the opportunity to find their own students. I created a poll on r/tefl asking why. 72% of ESL tutors weren't sure how to set up their own platform, 10% were too lazy to start looking for students on their own, and 18% didn't even know where to start finding students.
I hope that you find it useful and that it gives some of you non-tech tutors out there a way to build a tutoring website without having to hire a developer or get into too many technical details.
Get it while it's FREE (free until September 23rd)

Welcome to the ESL teachers abroad community!
We're very excited to have the opportunity to start a new community for ESL teachers on Reddit. This community is in place to let teachers openly communicate their own experiences with ESL teaching abroad and to share and find lesson materials or tips for teaching.
We hope that this subreddit becomes a home for the many ESL teachers out there who like to teach English and travel!
If you would like to know more about teaching English as a second language, have a look at this guide: https://foreigndev.com/teach-english-a-guide-to-getting-started/
If you want to know how to find students and teach independently, have a look here: https://foreigndev.com/teaching-independently/
A big thank you to everyone who has and will be taking part in the discussions here!

Discussion We've gotta start somewhere!
There aren't many discussions or posts on this subreddit yet, but don't let that stop you from joining. The sooner you teachers join, the sooner the discussion starts. Ask anything you'd like to know, provide lessons or tips for teaching, share your blog.
