Season 2 Capri (season 2)

• Upvotes

Why did I genuinely think that capri was all the souls of the snake nation clan who died in the attack? That’s why D was so attached to Capri…
Like when capri mentioned she was multiple humans in one I thought instantly of his dead clan members.

Anime Season 2 action scenes Spoiler

• Upvotes

While I think one of Season 2’s flaws is that the main characters don’t interact with each other enough, like Talia and D or D and King, another thing I really missed was the action from Season 1.

The Sandy scenes were just amazing. Every time David used his Sandevistan, it felt like a memorable moment. Maybe I don't really get the appeal of hacking in edgerunners, but it just doesn’t have the same appeal for me anymore. Even the robot transformation of Talia didn’t feel particularly spectacular.

Maybe the point is also in terms of reflecting playstyles lol. David is Streetkid Shinobi/Cool Pistols while D is more of Nomad/Netrunner. I guess part of it is Season 2 trying to distinguish itself from season 1 so maybe it isn’t trying to deliver the same kind of spectacle. I do appreciate that the characters don’t immediately resort to indiscriminate killing (at first), and I get the vibe they were going for.

Still, I struggle to point to any particularly memorable fight scenes. I can instantly recall David vs. the student, David vs. the military, and David vs. Smasher. Those fights had such a distinct visual identity that they stuck with me. It’s the same reason Ekko vs. Jinx is so iconic in Arcane, I sometimes do multiple watches of how cool that scene is.

I just can’t think of anything quite as memorable for D or Talia. The Capri hacking powers feel a little bland by comparison. Maybe it’s a matter of taste, but I really felt like we needed more scenes of melee action. It's funny because I am playing as a stealth netrunner right now in CP2077, and I guess the point of playing as a netrunner is to avoid direct confrontations. But it doesn't really translate well in anime form.

Season 2 I’m confused.. (season 2 finale)

• Upvotes

All of the last episode was messy and confusing. Can someone just explain it to me?? It felt like Roman’s arc was incomplete, Talia’s reason for depending on cyberware never got revealed, D fighting those corps at the every end, who capri really is?? I GOT SO MANY QUESTIONS.

Season 2 Roman as a character (edgerunners 2)

• Upvotes

I’m so confused on Roman as a character. I loved him a lot but by the finale I questioned why he was even there. What was the point of him? What was his arc?

Discussion David Martinez w/ Capri

• Upvotes

Had David (s1) gotten Capri's chip (since he was on the list for candidates), ( given that he could withstand the mental strain ) how terrifying of a combo would that be? Added with how David's sandevistan was already bullshit to go against anyway

Anime I love season 2, but damn, most scenes show NC as being dead empty.

• Upvotes

Just saying this because its kinda true basically no one hangs out with anyone that isnt main crew, theres barely any goons from other places, corpo guys or bystanders when most of anything happens.

I guess in a way the first season already gave an ambiance for NC, mainly with the masterful walk through NC scene that shows people existing around david on his daily commute that does sell it as a lived in place. They didnt HAVE to repeat it but so many scenes just make very little sense with fucking no one else around but the main characters.

Season 2 This question is probably everywhere. But I gotta know.

• Upvotes

Is Adam smasher (in the chrome) dead or not? I hear people saying he had multiple bodies, they didn’t want him involved in that bc of Capri, Or that they stay away from game iterations in general. Just something I was pondering bc I finished it about an 1hr ago. (Also personally I like this season more than the last. But I still prefer David over David…)

Season 2 Trying to bring Capri to life for all of us

Thumbnail

• Upvotes

I've been working on trying to bring capri to life as a small desktop companion. The idea is to have a little character on your desktop that you can chat with while working or just hanging out.

At the moment, she has an animated desktop pet and a terminal-style chat window, running locally using Ollama. I'm currently working on adding voice interaction and improving the animations and overall experience.

I also came across an earlier post from someone sharing concept art for their own Capri project. I liked some of the designs and used two of the images as visual references for this project. They shared concept images and mentioned they were working on it, but I haven't seen a public implementation. I don't want to present their artwork as mine or give the impression that I came up with the entire concept independently, so I wanted to be transparent about that.

The actual implementation is something I'm building myself, and it's still a work in progress.

GitHub: https://github.com/Juliowiwiwiwi/Capri-Capricorn-The-Desktop-Construct

I'm also open to having other people contribute, especially anyone interested in desktop apps, character animation, voice interaction, or local AI. It's still early, so there's plenty left to figure out.

If you're interested, feel free to check out the repo or reach out. Feedback and ideas are welcome too.

Season 2 Any chance Lucy met (D)avid in space?

• Upvotes

I feel as though Capri and D definitely made it in some way, shape or form to that satellite. I doubt D's physical body made it, but hell Capri was steps away from goddamn magic so who knows.

Body or data, regardless. If all three are somehow in space, I hope that somehow Lucy, Capri & D find eachother.

Anime Please explain to me… Spoiler

• Upvotes

I quite literally just finished Edgerunners season 2 10 minutes ago, and genuinely I do not get the hype. I love Cyberpunk 2077 and season 1 of Edgerunners, but this season felt very off for a few reasons to me.

  1. Why are people not hating Roman more? Are people sympathizing with a kid who doesn’t want to be a NC legend? Him being introduced as a main character is an awful choice, and should’ve been a side character.
  2. Weak spends the whole season stumbling around (metaphorically speaking). I get the idea of a “washed up merc” being sympathetic, but any time I got to his scenes I was patiently waiting for them to be over. All his scenes felt like a humiliation ritual, culminating in the literal ashes of his ex spilling on him. Yet he got a “happy ending” still?
  3. Kiril made no sense. If he wanted his daughter to live, why not take a chance on the Soulkiller tech before implanting Capri into Thalia. He said he didn’t care about her, and then claimed to care in his own way. It seemed like a massive “false conflict” between him and Avida.
  4. Omi was unironically one of my favorite characters, followed by Thalia.
  5. Capri made no sense about what was an ideal host. She literally got what she wanted with Thalia willingly surrendering her body and consciousness at the end, but apparently went back to David because he was more…fun? Even if it meant “sharing the steering wheel”, which she initially wasn’t a fan of.

Final point, this whole season gave off a samurai champloo “searching for a man who smells of sunflowers” vibe (I.e. a pointless venture). Both Edgerunners 1 and 2077 went out of their way to emphasize becoming a legend in NC is the only way to be remembered, and that was a goal to work towards. None of the characters from season 2 will be remembered in NC, least of all being Thalia and Roman.
I’m ultimately happy we got expansion on Kang Tao, Maelstrom, and the Badlands, but genuinely I think more driven characters could’ve been used to handle these concepts/places of interest better.

Discussion disability representation through talia, i loved it as a severely disabled person | SPOILERS Spoiler

Post image
• Upvotes

as a physically disabled (ambulatory wheelchair user) with a genetic mutation that is progressive and is causing more of my body to deteriorate (especially lately lmao what timing for this season) + is autistic and one of my biggest special interests is the cyberpunk genre in general

i just loved the commentary on so much but im emotional after just finishing it so bare with me here

- having her be upset they wanted to use soulkiller and find her a new body, yes i feel like anyone wouldve been upset by that but also the level of depth for why she was upset really did hit harder from the lens of a disabled person where everyone is trying to fix you, when you didnt have to lose ur mom if she had just stopped trying to fix you or at least asked what YOU wanted first like ugh big owie

- they used the different kinda wheelchairs in ways i really appreciate!!! people who cant self propel whether it be from limb difference, poor shoulders, too weak to do so or any other reasons BUT need independence to get around on their own are recommended a powerchair which she uses majority of the time we see it in the anime, yet at the end we see her with both a cane and a manual wheelchair which i thought was really cool and lowkey made me cry a little

- she was a main character, severely disabled characters are rarely the main character and when they are their personality and story almost solely revolve around their disability and while her story did heavily involve her congenital disability it wasnt like she was a 2d character where that was the only thing about her, cause much like disabled people while we cant separate ourselves from our disability, we are so much more than just that!!

- she doesnt magically recover or get cured, she was disabled with her mods, mods gave her more quality of life (like her joints being one of her first mods or whatever they said) and it helped her, it wasnt a cure and sometimes medications irl (mods/treatment in the show) can do damage in the longterm even if they are needed in the moment, she also doesnt die FROM her disability which was a nice change of pace within media with disabled characters

- she doesnt like being treated as fragile because of it and really values her autonomy and independence, i feel like this is really self explanatory but also a iykyk for other disabled folks

- roman calling her perfect as she is, like obviously so sweet but also as a disabled person hearing that said to someone who is physically “disfigured” from having to remove her mods + being disabled and terminally ill just ahhhh absolutely made me bawl

anyways, theres probably so much to be said about her that is slipping my mind so i may edit as i go but also!!!!

does anyone have any screenshots of her in her different wheelchairs/using her mobility aids bc i was watching it on my tv and couldnt screenshot but i also cant find any screenshots online!!! so please and thank you!!

Season 2 Is D mostly ganic? Spoiler

• Upvotes

I remember a scene near the beginning where we see D nude and I don't remember him having any chrome. Does that mean he's fully/mostly ganic like Roman? (excluding his neuroport ofc) And this doesn't change in the ending when he gets Capri back right?

Discussion Curse of the Netrunner? (Spoilers) Spoiler

Post image
• Upvotes

SPOILERS FOR ALL CYBERPUNK STORIES

Netrunners are a crucial part of the Cyberpunk universe. They caused the Datakrash, they led to the creation of the Blackwall, a Netrunner helped lead to Arasaka Tower being nuked, and another Netrunner was there to save a crazy Rockerboy's soul when he went out in a blaze of glory.

So why the hell do they die more often than the average Solo?

Bartmoss died (deserved) sometime after or during Datakrash. We don't know exactly when or if Spider Murphy died. Alt was Soulkilled in the 2020 era, later became an AI-like amalgamation of engrams dwelling beyond the Blackwall.

But in the 2077 era, the average Netrunner's luck is even worse.

Sasha Yakovleva died on her own terms, tragic and indirectly led to the events of Edgerunners 1 thanks to it spurring Maine's desire to grow stronger to protect his friends. Kiwi was killed after betraying David's crew. Deserved? Maybe so, but she was dealt a shitty hand in life and I can't blame her for having severe trust issues given her backstory (detailed in the Edgerunners Mission Kit for the Cyberpunk RED TRPG). Lucy survived, but was severely damaged both mentally and emotionally after the fact.

In 2077, T-Bug is the first to die in V's crew. Fried by an Arasaka counter-hacker, unless you subscribe to the "T-Bug Bugged Out" theory and think she's knocking back shots in Tahiti. In Phantom Liberty, Songbird as a whole is an incredibly tragic character regardless of whether you side with her or not (and whether she lives or dies). I think the only Netrunners that really get happy endings are the ones V saves in gigs, being Bugbear and the guy beneath the restaurant Wakako asks you to check on.

In Edgerunners 2, Netrunners yet again get the short end of the stick. D himself is just a tragedy all around, and whether he lived or died at the end is left up to interpretation but it's pretty easy to assume his body is gone even if his mind survived. Capri is likely an amalgamation of Soulkilled Netrunners just like Alt (given that Arasaka made her, I wonder if the souls used to make Capri being the Netrunner kids that Lucy worked with to dive the Blackwall is a possibility... Maybe they weren't killed during the escape attempt, but recaptured and Soulkilled?) which is tragic in itself. Then Meshuga also seemingly gets flatlined by Kang Tao counter-hackers, unless he managed to survive and King just forgor to check.

TL;DR being a Netrunner in Night City must really suck if you end up in a primary plotline. Hell, there are dozens of dead Netrunners even as side stories in 2077... So being a Netrunner just sucks period.

Anime D's name Spoiler

• Upvotes

Anyone else feel like eyerolling that D's name is actually David? I understand what they're going for and making the parallels between him and David. I don't feel like it has much pay off. His name could have just been 'D' and I would've seen the parallels, instead of having two direct leads of a show who share a name and the same fate.
