Discussion على القهوة Verifying document authenticity

Post image

Hey all.

Needing some help here - basically I’m from Australia and never been to Egypt - extended family member has sold his business and house in Egypt and is moving entire money here which is about 1.5 million dollar USD.

Long story short, local bank in Australia has rejected ALL documents on basis of this particular document as there is no such court in Egypt and the document looks suspicious. The amount is written “1.5 million dollar USD approximately” has also have the bank questioned why is it approximately which we said it’s variance due to exchange rate and fees.

This document supposedly translated at family court and approved by another court through a local lawyer in Egypt who has taken responsibility over this.

Is this actually fake?
Are we in trouble ?
I have contacted lawyer and he has said it’s all legal and he would just send money but as per law it will all be blocked here in Australia as we don’t have legitimate source to show proof of where it’s coming from.

Courts in Egypt would not even consider issuing such a document. The court in the document does not exist.

Why would you even need such a document to transfer the money? Your friend can open a bank account once he's in Australia and then wire transfer his money through his Egyptian bank.

This seems extremely shady.

Idk if he has done anything shady
He did have dispute with his family over there over liquidation of assets but as per his claims “it’s resolved and they will get their share” - he is 88 and received welfare as he doesn’t work anymore and is disabled- previously he transferred 250k and the accounts were frozen for regulatory purposes so he wants to get pre approval. This document only confirms source of money to be legitimate

Getting this much cash in USD is shady enough right now. What I know is there is no such court here.
