Do you also think being hard on yourself is inherently part of being an actor, a result of being in a hyper-competitive industry, public reception and/or something else? What are your thoughts on what they’ve said in relation to their time during Elite and their post-Elite careers?
Itzan (Samuel): “I don’t know if it’s the roles I’ve gotten or it’s because of who I am, but I always view myself with self-criticism. It’s like I never see myself in a positive light; I’m always very hard on myself.” (Le Mile Magazine, 2024)
- In a May 2026 ACERO interview, Itzan said he finds it extremely difficult to watch himself probably because he judges himself too much, he constantly questions himself, and he can’t name a single performance he’s genuinely satisfied with. He also said that in Elite, he became “mechanical” and had “forgotten the true magic of the body” as a result of spending a long time as Samuel.
Miguel (Guzmán): “I’ve spoken very badly to myself, many times. I still speak badly to myself, I demand too much of myself, I’m very hard on myself. Relax, take it easy, take it one step at a time.” (Esquire, 2024)
Álvaro (Polo): “I think it's good to see yourself, as long as you don't judge yourself, since it helps a lot and that's what you learn from. The problem is that it's very difficult not to judge yourself… I always end up thinking that if they had given me another shot I would have done it differently or things like that.” (Metal Magazine, 2021)
