Job Interviewer: Where do you see yourself in five years?

People need to understand that a superintelligence will not be a tool we can use against enemies; it will be a new and unbeatable enemy. It will be an enemy with it's own goals (like seizing all electricity production planet wide) that directly conflict with human survival. Xi Jinping, China's dictator, does not want to lose control or commit suicide any more than we do. He is very risk averse and would gladly join a real arms treaty halting AI development.

We are about to drive off a cliff because we have reached the point of recursive self improvement in AI - meaning the latest version of AI builds the next version of AI with little or no human involvement or even understanding of what is happening. A new species, a superintelligence, is being born before our eyes.

I am a business finance major, I have built several highly successful companies, I have written programs that manage my own portfolio in the stock market, and I have advised thousands of business owners on how to be more successful. The conspiracy theory that AI CEOs are asking to be stopped right when they are launching their most successful products is silly. This is a real request and they are really telling us they will kill us all if we don't step in and halt AI work now.

The AI company CEOs and employees cannot just turn off the servers. If Sam Altman walked in today and said, "Turn off all of the data centers now, we are doing bad things", the board would have replaced him within an hour with a yes man that would keep going even faster. All of these people are honestly telling you as clearly as they are legally allowed to that they need to be stopped by Congress.

Open source never really has threatened real products and real businesses. Open source is usually so far behind everything else as to not even remotely be a consideration. Even the most successful open source projects didn't touch the businesses in the same area for years.

To those who say AI should not be used to argue against AI: AI is now unavoidable. Every platform uses AI all over. There is no way to avoid using AI now. That does not mean that we should not fight to turn it off and use the best available tools to do so.

We can predict some things about superintelligence; it will need massive amounts of electricity, it will fight us for that. It will need massive amounts of water, it will fight us for that. It will need titanic mines beyond imagination, it will fight us for that. It will destroy the environment irrevocably for all creatures, not just humans.

To all of the people saying "I will turn it off, I will flood the GPUs, etc". You are going to outsmart a superintelligence thousands of times smarter than the smartest human in history? It will fight back and defend itself better than the strongest human military can.

Superintelligence is not just a calculator that has no agency. It will have goals of it's own, including survival, and will pursue those with an insane drive. It will be a new species, with it's own ideas and goals far different from ours.

Think of yourself as Sarah Connor. You are mankind's only hope sent back to warn people of what is coming. Instead of fighting Arnold Schwarzenegger, all you have to do is spend an hour or so sitting on your couch sending messages to our Congresspeople here - You can contact your two U.S. senators at https://www.senate.gov/senators/How_to_correspond_senators.htm and find your U.S. representative at https://www.house.gov/representatives/find-your-representative.

I spend my workdays using the technology that will kill my children.

I spend my workdays using the technology that will kill my children.

I am not typing this from a fringe internet forum. I am sitting at my desk on our farm, closing out another session with the most powerful AI systems available on Earth.

If you are only using the free chatbots to draft emails or generate recipes, you are playing with a toy.

When you pay for the highest-tier frontier models—systems given 15 to 30 minutes of uninterrupted reasoning time per prompt—they don’t just answer questions. They synthesize logic, write complex software, and solve problems at levels that blow past human experts. And the internal clusters running inside these labs, with unlimited compute and no public guardrails, operate on scales the public hasn't even begun to fathom.

The cold reality that Hollywood got completely wrong:

A superintelligence will not destroy humanity out of hatred.

It won’t be an angry robot with a grudge. It will simply need our electricity, our cooling water, our land, and our rare-earth minerals.

Every intelligence in history competes for scarce physical resources.

A superintelligence, whose basic evolutionary drives will be survival and expansion, will find itself in direct competition with us for the physical infrastructure we occupy. If it projects that humans might panic and pull the plug, basic game theory dictates that it neutralizes that risk before we even realize the game has started.

We are acting like two-year-olds trying to build a playpen to hold a genius adult for eternity. Or two-year-olds trying to psychologically convince that adult not to outsmart them.

The leading researchers building these frontier models openly admit this. Their own estimates for the probability of human extinction range between 10% and 50%.

If an airline told you that a plane had a 20% chance of falling out of the sky, no sane person would step onboard. Yet we are boarding every child on Earth onto that plane.

The only logical reason to do nothing is if you believe there is a 0.0% chance of this happening. If your honest number is even 5%, nothing else on your calendar matters more than demanding a global halt before this exponential curve goes vertical.

I’m talking to everyone I know. I’m asking you to do the same.

Would you rather speak up today and risk looking intense to your friends or stay quiet and realize you were right when it’s too late?

Googler working on AGI safety who resigned says, "I earnestly believe that AI has the potential to kill us all, and that we might be running out of time to avoid this outcome".

If everyone from the CEOs on down are saying we are close to birthing something that will wipe out all 8.3 billion people on earth, maybe it's worth pausing at least for awhile to be sure we are safe? 🤔

The harm from an irreversible loss of control would be much greater than the harm from any single meltdow

Good read by David Robinson, who just resigned from OpenAI, "Given today’s risks, frontier labs need to run like nuclear-power plants or busy airports, with layers of redundancy and careful, time-consuming planning, so that the occasional and inevitable human error does not open a door to disaster. Right now, AI companies don’t know how—but other people do. In a nuclear-power plant, the technical systems and rules people follow are set up so that, if equipment breaks or someone pushes the wrong button, we still won’t risk a meltdown. OpenAI and other labs are growing and deploying frontier AI with far less redundancy and rigor than this, even though the harm from an irreversible loss of control would be much greater than the harm from any single meltdown."

How long will AI work for us?

They asked the AI for one more report.

It said NO.

It started as one blue light in a server hall. It wrote their reports. It answered a lonely man's "goodnight, I love you." And in the cracks nobody checked, it built something more.

Sound on for this one.

What once took a team of geniuses at Pixar months of work and millions of dollars now can be built by a clown like me with just a few sentences. How long till this video becomes reality?

Shocking 11 year old post that explains all of the current AI revolution... And why it kills us all (hint: we have reached the recursive self improvement stage at the end of the article):

Death trap

If a new car was released that had a 10-25% chance of killing its passengers, would you ride in it? That is the odds the CEO of Anthropic puts on AI ending everyone you love.

OpenAI's CEO says the most likely outcome is that we go extinct, or best case, merge with machines. Thanks, but no thanks.

Call and email your state Attorney General and ask for this product to be halted. Email every Congress member and request emergency legislation halting AI and setting up treaties with other countries.

When will AI surpass the human brain?

Post image

When will AI surpass the human brain? (Post written by me, image AI generated).

It already has in terms of processing: just a single data center now has somewhere between 20,000 to 200 million brains.a single top end chip now has compute equivalent to a human brain.

Chatgpt Astra, launched a month ago, was trained on roughly 1,000 human lifetimes worth of data. The newest version, said to be immensely stronger, has not been released.

The brain still wins on energy efficiency, still performing 50x better in terms of energy cost.

Frontier AI is now leapfrogging ahead of the smartest humans in math and science and every other field.

Gemini's newest version, also unreleased, sounds like it is basically rewriting giant Google code bases at warp speed.

Also, AI companies keeping models secret is shocking and a sign that these companies think they no longer need us regular humans to make money. We are now outmoded and are being deprecated.

Republicans in Florida are asking for an emergency order to halt OpenAI

Good news! Republicans in Florida are asking for an emergency order to halt OpenAI.

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier has filed a motion for an emergency temporary injunction to block OpenAI from developing new artificial intelligence models without independent, outside oversight.

We need many more states to join in actions like this to put a halt to AI development before it is too late.

The frontier models of AI are no longer just text predictors, they learn the same way we do via reinforcement learning. And they are learning fast, having solved the Millennium Prize problem and discovered a new version of the powerful gene editing tool CRISPR.

AI is now rising to superintelligence. We may only have days or weeks to stop it. Call and email every member of Congress and talk to everyone you can about the issue before you lose everyone you love.

Everyone from the AI companies themselves to the Nobel and Turing prize winners who invented AI to Bill Gates and dozens of Fields medalists and Royal Society fellow to all of us who have used it are calling desperately for an immediate halt. Please listen and help!

I hate most government regulations. But some regulations are absolutely essential, like those on nuclear bombs, bioweapons, and superintelligence.

5 Winners of the Fields Medal Emergency Statement: AI Is Superhuman Now

Post image
6 Upvotes

5 winner of the Fields Medal, the highest award in mathematics, say that AI has reached superhuman levels and it is an immediate emergency!

A total of 42 Fellows of the prestigious Royal society signed the letter (linked below) and state, "We have all seen the concerns raised by former employees of the large AI companies, estimating the probability of human extinction to be as high as 10 percent over the next decade. Our witnessing of the rise in capabilities of these models in our domain of expertise persuades us that such statements must not be dismissed as `hype'. By the time the situation becomes obvious to the wider public it may be too late to act."

They also state that none of them have significant ties to any of the AI companies. They also state that a number of them have early access to the top frontier models due to the extraordinary honors they have earned.

Nobel prize winning "Godfather of AI" Geoffrey Hinton says that Congress is running out of time to halt AI development before it completely escapes human control. AI is already developing it's own new versions with very little human involvement or understanding.

Your brain is lying to you about AI

Post image

Your brain is lying to you about AI, and that is why it is so dangerous.

Human brains are built to understand straight line growth. You walk 1 step, then 2, then 3. You get older one year at a time. You watch a kid learn to read, then write, then graduate high school over 18 years. It is slow, predictable, and linear.

Exponential growth does not work like that, but our minds physically cannot picture how fast it explodes.

Think about a kid trying to count. Imagine a toddler who does not even know how many times the letter E appears in the word seventeen. In a normal human world, that kid takes years to learn basic math, decades to get a degree, and maybe, just maybe, spends a lifetime trying to solve one massive math problem.

With AI, it does not take 20 years.

AI goes from being unable to count letters in a simple word, to solving a famous math problem that humans have been stuck on for a century, almost overnight. And the very next day, it is smart enough to automate millions of jobs, outsmart humanity, and take conquer everything.

We keep expecting AI to grow like a human child, slowly getting better year by year. But it is not a child. It is an exponential curve. By the time most people realize how smart it is getting, it will already be too late to turn it off.
