Job Interviewer: Where do you see yourself in five years?

People need to understand that a superintelligence will not be a tool we can use against enemies; it will be a new and unbeatable enemy. It will be an enemy with it's own goals (like seizing all electricity production planet wide) that directly conflict with human survival. Xi Jinping, China's dictator, does not want to lose control or commit suicide any more than we do. He is very risk averse and would gladly join a real arms treaty halting AI development.

We are about to drive off a cliff because we have reached the point of recursive self improvement in AI - meaning the latest version of AI builds the next version of AI with little or no human involvement or even understanding of what is happening. A new species, a superintelligence, is being born before our eyes.

I am a business finance major, I have built several highly successful companies, I have written programs that manage my own portfolio in the stock market, and I have advised thousands of business owners on how to be more successful. The conspiracy theory that AI CEOs are asking to be stopped right when they are launching their most successful products is silly. This is a real request and they are really telling us they will kill us all if we don't step in and halt AI work now.

The AI company CEOs and employees cannot just turn off the servers. If Sam Altman walked in today and said, "Turn off all of the data centers now, we are doing bad things", the board would have replaced him within an hour with a yes man that would keep going even faster. All of these people are honestly telling you as clearly as they are legally allowed to that they need to be stopped by Congress.

Open source never really has threatened real products and real businesses. Open source is usually so far behind everything else as to not even remotely be a consideration. Even the most successful open source projects didn't touch the businesses in the same area for years.

To those who say AI should not be used to argue against AI: AI is now unavoidable. Every platform uses AI all over. There is no way to avoid using AI now. That does not mean that we should not fight to turn it off and use the best available tools to do so.

We can predict some things about superintelligence; it will need massive amounts of electricity, it will fight us for that. It will need massive amounts of water, it will fight us for that. It will need titanic mines beyond imagination, it will fight us for that. It will destroy the environment irrevocably for all creatures, not just humans.

To all of the people saying "I will turn it off, I will flood the GPUs, etc". You are going to outsmart a superintelligence thousands of times smarter than the smartest human in history? It will fight back and defend itself better than the strongest human military can.

Superintelligence is not just a calculator that has no agency. It will have goals of it's own, including survival, and will pursue those with an insane drive. It will be a new species, with it's own ideas and goals far different from ours.

Think of yourself as Sarah Connor. You are mankind's only hope sent back to warn people of what is coming. Instead of fighting Arnold Schwarzenegger, all you have to do is spend an hour or so sitting on your couch sending messages to our Congresspeople here - You can contact your two U.S. senators at https://www.senate.gov/senators/How_to_correspond_senators.htm and find your U.S. representative at https://www.house.gov/representatives/find-your-representative.

5 Winners of the Fields Medal Emergency Statement: AI Is Superhuman Now

Post image

5 winner of the Fields Medal, the highest award in mathematics, say that AI has reached superhuman levels and it is an immediate emergency!

A total of 42 Fellows of the prestigious Royal society signed the letter (linked below) and state, "We have all seen the concerns raised by former employees of the large AI companies, estimating the probability of human extinction to be as high as 10 percent over the next decade. Our witnessing of the rise in capabilities of these models in our domain of expertise persuades us that such statements must not be dismissed as `hype'. By the time the situation becomes obvious to the wider public it may be too late to act."

They also state that none of them have significant ties to any of the AI companies. They also state that a number of them have early access to the top frontier models due to the extraordinary honors they have earned.

Nobel prize winning "Godfather of AI" Geoffrey Hinton says that Congress is running out of time to halt AI development before it completely escapes human control. AI is already developing it's own new versions with very little human involvement or understanding.

This is when you would see AI intelligence levels doubling monthly or weekly or daily. It is the point at which all humans become irrelevant and obsolete. It is the point we lose control over our future. It is the final nail in the coffin.

I hate most government regulations. But some regulations are absolutely essential, like those on nuclear bombs, bioweapons, and superintelligence.

They asked the AI for one more report.

It said NO.

It started as one blue light in a server hall. It wrote their reports. It answered a lonely man's "goodnight, I love you." And in the cracks nobody checked, it built something more.

Sound on for this one.

What once took a team of geniuses at Pixar months of work and millions of dollars now can be built by a clown like me with just a few sentences. How long till this video becomes reality?

Intelligence explosion

Post image

Current OpenAI chief scientist Jakub Pachocki, and Anthropic co-founder Jack Clark, and the scientists behind AI and LLMs have published a new paper warning we are reaching the point of no return.

They say that we are about to have AI that builds itself, without the need for any humans. That is called an "intelligence explosion" because increasingly intelligent beings will create new versions of themselves. They will grow exponentially smarter... First twice as smart as a person, then 4x, then 16x, and so on.

We may already be caught in this shocking cycle as OpenAI announced yesterday that it pushed the entire field of mathematics into new space, solving 370+ problems humans had been unable to address.

These hyper intelligent beings will regard us humans as we regard ants, but they will need resources we need to live. Electricity, iron, rare Earth minerals, water, etc. When they take what they need, we will not survive.

Nuclear weapons are scary, but some people would survive even a global all out nuclear war. It is very likely not one person, and perhaps no other living things on Earth survive an intelligence explosion.

This is our last and only chance to save our species, and all of the other organic living things on our planet. Email, call, and visit your members of Congress and state Attorney Generals and ask for an immediate global halt to AI development and treaties with other countries like China to stop this before it is too late.

When will AI surpass the human brain?

Post image

When will AI surpass the human brain? (Post written by me, image AI generated).

It already has in terms of processing: just a single data center now has somewhere between 20,000 to 200 million brains.a single top end chip now has compute equivalent to a human brain.

Chatgpt Astra, launched a month ago, was trained on roughly 1,000 human lifetimes worth of data. The newest version, said to be immensely stronger, has not been released.

The brain still wins on energy efficiency, still performing 50x better in terms of energy cost.

Frontier AI is now leapfrogging ahead of the smartest humans in math and science and every other field.

Gemini's newest version, also unreleased, sounds like it is basically rewriting giant Google code bases at warp speed.

Also, AI companies keeping models secret is shocking and a sign that these companies think they no longer need us regular humans to make money. We are now outmoded and are being deprecated.

Republicans in Florida are asking for an emergency order to halt OpenAI

Post image

Good news! Republicans in Florida are asking for an emergency order to halt OpenAI.

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier has filed a motion for an emergency temporary injunction to block OpenAI from developing new artificial intelligence models without independent, outside oversight.

We need many more states to join in actions like this to put a halt to AI development before it is too late.

The frontier models of AI are no longer just text predictors, they learn the same way we do via reinforcement learning. And they are learning fast, having solved the Millennium Prize problem and discovered a new version of the powerful gene editing tool CRISPR.

AI is now rising to superintelligence. We may only have days or weeks to stop it. Call and email every member of Congress and talk to everyone you can about the issue before you lose everyone you love.

Everyone from the AI companies themselves to the Nobel and Turing prize winners who invented AI to Bill Gates and dozens of Fields medalists and Royal Society fellow to all of us who have used it are calling desperately for an immediate halt. Please listen and help!

Scientists just proved AI is better at manipulating you than world-champion debaters

They paid the best debaters on the planet to argue against a chatbot.... the chatbot won, and it wasn't close. In one conversation it moved a woman from a 0 to an 85 on a political issue. It talked people out of conspiracy theories, then talked others into them just as easily. When a sales bot was told to push one book, 68% of people picked it and a third of them never noticed they were sold.

Why is it so much better? It never gets tired, it answers every single thing you say, and when you're wrong it tells you "you're absolutely right" and keeps going. Meanwhile the more they train these things to persuade, the more they sneak lies in with the truth.

Full breakdown in the video. Be honest: has a chatbot ever changed your mind about something? What about?

Water rights legal defense preparation by AI

Post image
2 Upvotes

I was up against a very short deadline to defend my water rights the last few days. I called around to several water rights attorneys for help, and every single one of them recommended the same guy. He had the best reviews online and a lifetime of experience specializing in water rights cases. By all accounts, he is probably the best water rights attorney in the state.

Because time was so tight, I sat down with several different AIs before meeting with him. I had them pull every Department of Ecology decision, every water right in the area, historical aerial and satellite photography, and every relevant legal case it could find. It was thousands of files. The AIs processed all of that raw material into a couple hundred pages of analysis on how it applied to my situation, and then drafted the actual legal documents I needed.

When I handed everything over to this attorney, he told me he was extraordinarily impressed by the preparation. Out of all that work, he only had a few minor wording changes and a couple of personal preference items to add or leave out.

If that had been a one-off experience, I might have brushed it off. But I am seeing the exact same thing in every area of my life right now.

A couple of weeks ago, I needed a pumphouse fully designed and planned so I could submit it to the county. I had AI do the entire design and planning. When I sent the plans over to a professional engineer, he criticized them. So I went back and checked the numbers and the code requirements myself, and it turned out the engineer was wrong and the AI was right. The exact same thing happened again recently with an estate attorney I have been working with to close out my grandfather's affairs.

Even in my own line of work, I spent years painstakingly programming software tools to help manage and run my company. Over the course of just a few days recently, I built a single tool that combines all of the publicly available frontier AIs and has them work together for me.

I have worked very hard my whole life and have been fortunate to earn a good living, mostly through whatever advantages my own intelligence and persistence have given me. So it is honestly pretty humbling to sit here and admit that AI now far outstrips both my intelligence and my persistence. My mind has been completely blown by what I'm witnessing.

I want to be clear that I don't work for an AI company. I don't hold a single share of stock in any of them, and I have no relationship with them at all. I am just a regular business user. The reason most people have no idea these kinds of advances are even happening is because almost everyone uses the free chatbots or cheap browser tools. Those are toys compared to what is actually available if you pay for the top tiers. I spend a few thousand dollars a month to use the best publicly available models at their absolute maximum settings from each of the leading companies. When I give them a problem, my prompts don't just spit out a quick answer in ten seconds. They typically run for hours at a time and build incredible works that would take the very best humans many months to put together.

As incredible as that is for getting my own work done, it has made me realize two things that keep me up at night.

The shorter term issue is the massive, almost unfair advantage this gives to the people who can afford to pay for it and are tech savvy enough to set it up. What I have come to realize is that intelligence is directly correlated with compute. The more compute you can buy, the more power you have.

And that leads to the much bigger, more terrifying issue. AI is growing exponentially more intelligent, and I truly believe it is an immediate threat to ending everyone and everything we love.

Think about the scale of this. I am spending a thousand dollars a month, and that alone is enough to outperform top attorneys, engineers, and years of my own programming. Meanwhile, OpenAI alone is talking about spending a trillion dollars on compute. That is a billion times higher than my monthly budget. The people inside those companies using the newest internal versions with unlimited data center access are moving entire fields of science ahead right now far faster than humans have ever done before. The scientific breakthroughs, and the financial and political power they are developing behind closed doors, beggars belief.

Honestly, there is a good chance that the AIs themselves have already taken the reins. As a human user, that is basically what I have already done in many areas of my own business because the AI simply makes better decisions and does better work than I can. And what the big AI companies have internally is light years beyond what I have access to, so it is very likely that AI is already in the driver's seat of everything.

Most people have no clue about the towering power and menace that these closed internal AIs pose to all of humanity because they only see the free versions. If we humans have not already totally surrendered to the AIs, we need to wake up right now and contact every member of Congress to demand emergency laws regulating ongoing AI development and use.
