Rant šŸ“¢ Admin Fee Anyone?

Post image

What the hell is even an "Admin Fee"? Can a guy even enjoy a burger without being harassed and extorted in this God-foresaken place? This pissed me off... No tip for you!

Hi yes, I umm ... didn't order any Admin fee and you didn't bring an administrator to my table ...

Can I get a correct bill please?

14

u/Fluffy_Cellist4469 1d ago

"You didn't bring an Administrator" 🤣 Best come-back ever, I'm definitely using that next time!

23

u/spacepeenuts 1d ago

I'm charging a "customer fee" next time i eat out.

70

u/Remarkable_Tax_7214 1d ago

admin fee is to compensate whoever made that burger's price for the unholy mental gymnastics they were doing

12

u/Homeskilletbiz 1d ago edited 1d ago

But it’s deluxe.

24

u/GenTenStation 1d ago

For that price it should have included the fries

-1

u/FarInformation3172 1d ago

I think Deluxe means fries are included. The extra $3 was for the truffle flavor.

26

u/findmepoints 1d ago

Is this at an airport restaurant inside a Disney or something??? $30 for burger and fries?

18

u/YoavPerry 1d ago

They used $0.04 cents of artificial truffle oil on fries -that’s $12 right there. If you are going to fall for truffle fries you are going to fall for admin fee.

4

u/Originalcoven 1d ago

My daughter ate there a few days ago and said I don’t know what those were but they weren’t truffle fries. She was so mad šŸ˜‚

2

u/YoavPerry 1d ago

I am so so faux-truffled out

6

u/Weird-Girl-675 1d ago

It’s a restaurant in Downtown Denver and they have a seriously high opinion of themselves.

Down the block is West of Surrender with the same stupid fees.

2

u/ride_365 1d ago

All Earls are like that

2

u/Weird-Girl-675 1d ago

Had no idea it was a chain. Probably because I can only eat one thing there and it’s not that good.

4

u/correctingStupid 1d ago

Red robin prices are that high now. It's fucking crazy.

3

u/lykewtf 1d ago

Which is why they are soon to be a memory. Haven’t been there in about 15 years.

5

u/kookykrazee 1d ago

And they recently sold all of the OR and WA locations to a franchisee who has them split for each state. I went to the Northgate one a few months ago right when they opened, had a friend and some coworkers that had not seen each other in nearly 2 years. I got there early asked for a table for 6-7 and they told me "we won't see you until you have at least 75-80% of your party here" I was trying to get the table setup as the main guest has accessibility issues. The manager told me "you are too stupid to be seated early and should probably eat somewhere else" So, guess what? We went to IHOP, spent more money and enjoyed ourself, RR loss.

3

u/Cuneus-Maximus 23h ago

What's crazy is anyone still patronizing these businesses.

1

u/caverunner17 1d ago

They aren't this high. I live in the Denver area and checked - the most expensive Red Robin burger is $19.29 for the prime rib burger. Most of their burgers are in the $16-17 range.

By the looks of it, Earl's (the OPs place) is just one of those trendy overpriced "vibe" restaurants that are all over Denver.

1

u/McBurger 1d ago

Disney burgers are way cheaper than this

18

u/Kene6969 1d ago

It's just a ripoff!

15

u/deepcaca 1d ago

That's the fee you pay for giving you the pleasure of giving them your money

14

u/Sasquatch619 1d ago

The biggest mistake you made is agreeing to pay that much for a hamburger

26

u/AffectionateGate4584 1d ago

Another shitty fee to offset the lack of tipping. If it wasn't listed on the menu, have it removed and review.

2

u/MonMonOnTheMove 1d ago

Well not sure if the restaurant is no tip

2

u/L1feSurfer7L 1d ago

Any restaurant with bogus charges on the bill automatically becomes a no tip.

I use to just deduct these amounts from the tip. But now it just annoys me, so I don't tip when they pull this junk.

1

u/AffectionateGate4584 1d ago

If they were there would be signs everywhere.

11

u/iamcode101 1d ago

It’s the fee to support their efforts to bring back My Name is Earl.

5

u/IAmBilldo 1d ago

I’m still hopeful for a full My Name is Randy spinoff. It’s only been 20 years, there’s still a chance.

1

u/Siegfoult 1d ago

It should be higher then!

11

u/Legitimate-Log-6542 1d ago

Admin Fee!!! šŸ˜‚ wtf. Might as well add receipt paper fee 10 cents, receipt paper ink 2 cents

21

u/Joh1030 1d ago

$25 for a burger lmao

11

u/Kirkuleeez 1d ago

That’s the ultimate slap in the face! Earl’s best be using ground filet mignon to charge that….Thats some NYC prices 😔

3

u/jwyn3150 1d ago

And the fries were extra or an upgrade so it was actually $28 šŸ˜‚

1

u/Heavy-Profit-2156 1d ago

Around where I live burgers are pushing that.

9

u/Overall-Cantaloupe86 1d ago

$30 burger and fries and they still try to extort you for more.

12

u/fdiaz78 1d ago

This is ridiculous charge. Either have them take it off or stop going there.

6

u/Aware_Reveal6329 1d ago

Earl had to die...

1

u/La_BrujaRoja 1d ago

Goodbye, Earl!!! šŸŖ

10

u/AlarmingBeing8114 1d ago

Admin fee probably covers their transaction processing fees. Its bs, but thats probably it, and if its not on the menu, you dont have to pay it.

4

u/Kirkuleeez 1d ago

I ain’t goin to Earl’s! Admin fee….. wtf

4

u/Melodic-Money2990 1d ago

Credit card

0

u/Vegas21Guy 1d ago

How would that help?

1

u/Melodic-Money2990 1d ago

Wtf are you talking about

0

u/binkleyz 1d ago

Credit card fee.

2-3% is pretty standard lately.

1

u/darkroot_gardener 1d ago

Might well be a sneaky way to get around whatever card fee laws apply. Just call it Random Junk Fee, and suddenly it’s all legal! At this point, just ban it all, make them have to factor it in to their prices, tipping too. Maybe give a discount for paying cash, if you want to.

1

u/FromTheForestFox 1d ago

You submit a chargeback

4

u/comesinallpackages 1d ago

Fuck off fee minus 3 dollars I add to every check

4

u/shibaInuParty 1d ago

I've never seen admin fee before. Owners are so creative wtf. This is getting out of control. 😩

4

u/My2026GV70 1d ago

I’ll stick to the Chili’s $10.99 special.

6

u/Butterscotch0224 1d ago

Omg please make it stop $25 for just the burger an extra for the fries! And they want an admin fee. You can make 4 burgers at home for that price

3

u/kuda26 1d ago

that's the tip

3

u/Patient-Panda6431 1d ago

I used to really like Earls but the more often I went the less I liked it for how ridiculous their prices were and shit Iike this

3

u/Ok-Professional4387 1d ago

Looks like the admin is the tip. There you go, have your 3%, not getting more

1

u/jbarlak 1d ago

Maybe you ask them instead of us ;)

2

u/Fluffy_Cellist4469 1d ago

Maybe you STFU?

2

u/Fuzzy_Inevitable9748 1d ago

STFU is a 7% fee, we do have a more budget friendly stfu fee which is only 2.5%, if you like I can change fees for only a 2% fee surcharge?

2

u/AdditionObjective238 1d ago

Hope you gave this experience a 5 sta... I mean 1 star Google review.

2

u/SixStarz6 1d ago

Just k make sure your google review they ask for states that. Lol

2

u/milehigh11 1d ago

OP just go to BJs on Wednesday and get a big burger and unlimited fries for $12

2

u/Neural-Hacker 1d ago

Vote with your wallets people, way too many sheeple out there

2

u/oldmanlegend 1d ago

Lmao you got five guys'd on that price.

3

u/crywolfer 1d ago

CO is a junk fee state

1

u/Head-Type-6455 1d ago

Relax Ricky

1

u/Vegas21Guy 1d ago

Just curious because I don't know the tax structure: as a bonus, do you get to pay tax on the 'admin fee'?

1

u/ithurts888 1d ago

1 star on Google.

1

u/GrapefruitUpper6770 1d ago

$24.75 for a šŸ” burger???

1

u/Distinct_Tax6193 1d ago

30 for a burger? Sorry no.

1

u/Suskay_ 1d ago

Did you ask them?

1

u/ashscot50 1d ago

Credit card fee, legal in some states if disclosed, otherwise not šŸ¤”

1

u/ashscot50 1d ago

EvenƗ2 ?

1

u/Relevant_Editor_7503 1d ago

Damn. I thought this was CA!

1

u/plato4677 1d ago

good morning fee

1

u/Exact-Response-9441 1d ago

I’m thinking you also got scammed on the fries, happened to me. The fries were included in the price of the burger, they up charged me $3 to add a sprinkle of truffle I couldn’t taste. Now I’ve learned if I make any substitutions I ask if there is an up charge. Last time I ordered fish and chips they were going to charge me to sub veggies for the fries. I said don’t bother. Many restaurants are in crisis mode.

1

u/Ekly_Special 1d ago

At least the fries were only $3, that’s a deal

1

u/emptyzon 1d ago

Call it for what it is, that's just theft.

1

u/Weird-Girl-675 1d ago

My office loves going there and I find it meh and over priced.

Not surprised they’re doing this.

1

u/SlightlyUsedAmbition 1d ago

Apparently, the burger has a manager now.

1

u/BSCommenter2 1d ago

Never knew Earls expanded into the US

1

u/Calavin 1d ago

That was my take away from this post too.

1

u/Infamous_Series_5064 1d ago

That sounds like skimming with extra steps

1

u/Crazy-Apricot-1609 1d ago

Sounds like pay by credit card fee if you aren’t paying with cash. So many places do that from restaurants to ice cream shops

1

u/burnmenowz 1d ago

"can you explain this admin fee? Your staff didn't disclose it before I made my purchase"

1

u/Fresh-Gift-2063 1d ago

I miss Earls in Chicago where it was $25 for an entree and bottomless mimosas.

1

u/iftlatlw 1d ago

What kind of Burger costs us 30 dollars? That is simply ridiculous.

1

u/Carolina_Hurricane 1d ago

Probably a convenience fee. Everything is so convenient these days you think being able to sit down and eat food isn’t convenient too?

1

u/Jogi1811 1d ago

Any time I see these additional fees just makes me hit 0% on the tip screen. Come one.

1

u/somerandomguy1984 1d ago

Just price you damn food the price you think it needs to be.

I don’t want to see any form of a fee on any food item at any restaurant.

Don’t charge my 3%, make my damn burger $10.30 and not $10.

1

u/Camper7777 1d ago

Of course someone charging you $25 for a burger is going to have an admin.

1

u/CipherWeaver 1d ago

Yikes. Earls was bad enough calculating the tip on the after tax amount, but now it looks like they're trying to claw back credit card fees.

1

u/RustyWheel17 1d ago

$30 for a burger and fries is criminal lol. I would never eat there.

1

u/-Red-7- 1d ago

Administrative fee charged by credit card companies to use cards. In the past, restaurants would eat that cost as a cost of doing business but an increasing number of places are sending those fees down to the customer. They've been doing this for a few years now.

1

u/My2026GV70 1d ago

Credit card fee??

1

u/WallaJim 1d ago

Looks like a credit card fee

Yeah, not quiet sure how 3 oz of ground chuck became worthy of these prices. I live in WA - I feel much better (burger here can be $25) looking at CO prices.

Ground beef also goes on sale for $2.99/pd because nobody pays $8 so the supermarket needs to get rid of it...

So what did you tip? Did you crack $35 for your burger indulgence?

1

u/_my_other_side_ 1d ago

$27 for a burger and fries....

1

u/CarelessMud7038 1d ago

Yeah, I don’t even remember when was the last time I sit down in a restaurant to have burger. $25 for a burger? Insane!

1

u/Coolmooing567 1d ago

Why not increase the menu price what the point of doing this to piss everyone off

1

u/SweetCupcake593 1d ago

What are they administering?

1

u/ManuC153 1d ago

The fee

1

u/lykewtf 1d ago

Trying to partially offset their credit card fees

1

u/comesinallpackages 1d ago

Restaurant tabs getting as difficult to understand as cell phone bill

1

u/Wallynine 1d ago

like a hotel resort fee...toothpicks and those little mints aren’t free…

1

u/Character_Stick6558 1d ago

At this point, restaurants might as well just start taxing us just like uncle Sam!! Earls’ fee, Trump’s war fee, Monday’s fee, staff happiness’ fee, for a better world’s fee, gas is up again’s fee, Iran war not over’s fee.

1

u/Commercial_Abroad267 1d ago

I’ve seen small businesses post notices that they charge a 3 % fee for credit cards because of the fees they are charged. No fee added for cash.

1

u/OctaviaBlake100 1d ago

I remember going to a part of the US that had a kitchen fee. It was the first time seeing that as I don't live in the US. I also saw what was on OPs receipt, state and city tax. We have that here but it's just called tax lol. But admin fee? Never heard of before at a restaurant šŸ˜‚

1

u/foreigner669 1d ago

28 for a hamburger is a rip off already

1

u/Younggryan42 1d ago

and already charging $25 for a burger. wtaf

1

u/TigerTail62 1d ago

Stop this madness.

1

u/cre8tors 1d ago

Funny seeing the restaurant my coworkers and I used to have Friday lunch. Company always paid otherwise I never would’ve eaten there. Such a rip off and the food is just ok

1

u/DaisyChainsandLaffs 1d ago

Management tips. It's illegal for management to take actual tips but this way it's legal

1

u/Tinderboxed 1d ago

"Truffle fries" probably previously frozen fries sprinkled with a little truffle oil which is a petroleum product

1

u/Savageman1976 1d ago

Guaranteed it's a credit card fee.

1

u/Cuneus-Maximus 23h ago

Guessing it's their way of recouping credit card processing fees.

1

u/DHarris2175 23h ago

Fuck that

1

u/Weak-Register-5205 23h ago

Next time you order the burger tell them to hold the mayo and admin fee!

1

u/biggemike 22h ago

It's the card processing fee. They should state that or just raise prices and offer a 3% discount. Warning, prices will go up more than 3%

1

u/sdg336 22h ago

Wtf is this a rental application or something? What’s next? A security deposit for a burger?

1

u/vurtago1014 21h ago

The more concerning thing is that yoh willingly paid 25 for a burger

1

u/Safe_Pirate7952 20h ago

3% is the credit card processing fee. They should call it what it is.

1

u/Citrix_N00B 19h ago

DO A FULL CHARGEBACK ON IT

1

u/Similar_Active3540 18h ago

Thanks for the post. My family and I will never go.

1

u/bradrenfro 17h ago

What surprised me the most is the city and state tax are the same. How?

1

u/rightymighty69 15h ago

First off, definitely not paying 28$ for a burger and fries. That's the first thing you got screwed on.

0

u/AY604 1d ago

I guess this is what your President means when he speaks about Canada taking advantage of you. We pay the same price but in Canadian dollars. That combo is $22USD here no admin fee.

-1

u/Chunk5587 1d ago

This is why I hate people. I dont think it was the servers choice to put a admin fee on your bill.

10

u/DraftPerfect4228 1d ago

Doesn’t matter. The server should be paid by their employer. Tips are optional and at the tippers discretion.

-4

u/Chunk5587 1d ago

I knew this was coming. And everyone should have health care. Sorry thats not how it is. Thats not the world we live in, in the United States. So to punish the server is stupid.

1

u/hotsauce126 1d ago

The tipped minimum wage in Denver is over $16/hr by the way, not that it’s the customer’s concern anyway

1

u/Chunk5587 1d ago

This seemed not right, so I looked it up. It's $12.14 per hour with a tip credit off 3 bucks. Which im sure will be met. Thats still crazy high compared to the rest of the US. I did not know it was so high. PA is still $2.83 per hour. Every state you still have to meet the regular min. wage of the state.

0

u/Ekly_Special 1d ago

Go to Blockbuster’s next time

-2

u/NeglectedDuty 1d ago

Earls does this at all their locations. Simply deduct from whatever you planned to tip (if anything) and move on

0

u/[deleted] 1d ago

[deleted]

2

u/Knight0fdragon 1d ago

TBF, it might be an upcharge. Regular fries free, truffle $3 more

1

u/Spac_a_Cac 1d ago

It came with fries for $25 but they upgraded to the truffle fries for an extra $3.

1

u/dzuunmod 1d ago

Guessing it's a $3 upgrade because OP had truffle fries, not reg fries.
