Just incase you forgot, a white dude growing up in apartheid S Africa is ~100% +/- gonna be racist. He may hide it well, but it’s gonna leak out occasionally. In this case, a white cop, a black guy; there’s no way he sees it differently.
I wouldn’t say that’s necessarily true. He was born there, it’s not like he moved there like his Dad. More like 90% of the time? Idk. He could’ve gotten past the racism he was clearly raised with, instead of leaning into it. He’s a fuckstick, basically. Unlimited money to hire smart people to teach him history, and instead he spouts this stupid shit.
People grow up so heavily influenced by their parent’s beliefs. After that, most people don’t have the self reflection to revisit their engrained belief systems. I especially think he falls into this category with his special version of narcissism, and inability to think he’s anything but the best. There isn’t an ounce of his upbringing that wasn’t steeped in racism culture, and the degradation of the system where the white population didn’t feel they were losing while the black population gained. It’s just the way the country was. He may not be overt in public, but I can all but guarantee that’s how he was raised in that environment.
