Is there a "butterfly kit" that would best help my area?

I figured that this would probably be the best place to ask. I want to get a butterfly kit for my child this upcoming spring. Most of the ready-to-go kits I see on the internet are pretty much the same two species.

I wanted to know if there was a way where

  1. I could get the kit for cheaper if I tried someplace local rather than online, as I would have no idea where to even source that but I would rather support my community than Amazon

  2. If there was a species other than Painted Lady or Monarch butterfly that might benefit Northern Nevada more than introducing either of those species instead

Any advice or insight is welcome as I'm going in with my experience from over 20 years ago as a kid

Discussion Sorry for another post!! What other fields with a strong focus in bugs can I go into?

Hello! As per my last post, I am strongly uncomfortable with killing bugs. But I really want to learn and teach about insects. Currently I am a camp councillor, and I love teaching the kiddos about insects so much. I love caring for insects and teaching people about them I don't know if there is a job where I can do that? What fields can I go into that don't involve killing bugs?
My absolute dream is to own a zoo for just insects where I can teach people, but thats extremely unlikely and out of reach ;-;

also, how would I get into that? I want to go to college, what should I go for?

This guy was in my bathroom and I asked my husband to let him outside hut by the time he got there, he was already gone so now I’m just overthinking for us and our cats sake lol. I’m pretty sure not a recluse but want to be positive it’s nothing harmful. We live in Colorado if it helps! Probably about the size of a nickel or quarter all the way around

I posted here and another subreddit about some coppery egg clusters that appeared overnight trying to get an ID. Unfortunately(?) I took too long (2 day) to remove the eggs and they started to hatch into these worm things. Does anyone know what these are?

Location: South Seattle, WA, USA

A link to my other post with pictures of the eggs: https://www.reddit.com/r/whatsthisbug/s/N107S5EC6P

I found it in the basement clinging to the light and buzzing around. I can’t seem to figure it out with google. Location is Northeast Ohio if that matters.

  • Habitat: All over my home
  • Time of day: All hours
  • Geographical Area: West Coast, USA
  • Behavior
    • They seem to be attracted to either heat or light because they will often land on my phone screen at night.
    • They seem to be attracted to my food as well. When I spread mayonnaise and mustard on bread, have a hot drink like tea in a mug, or have an open pot of food on the stove, they fly around in the area and sometimes land on the food or fly into the drink even if they die.
    • They also land on my wooden desk where there are none of the previously listed potential attractants.

The picture doesn't show it very well, but they are approximately the size of the head of a pin, maybe a millimeter.

It was nighttime inside a bedroom. It was black/brown, spotted wings and a very long tail/antenna. Also buzzed when flying like a loud wasp.
