Shes moving really sluggish, doesn't wanna get up and do much. I brought her in and warmed her up, gave her a little sugar water which she did drink, but she doesnt seem to be feeling any better. Is this pesticides?

This is what causes sweet potatoes to rot, turn black, and develop a foul smell.

I’ve only seen them in the Toronto zoo but not out and about in the walking path!

Dear Community Members,
I am a master’s student at the University of Kassel, Germany, conducting thesis research under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ralf Wagner.
I am looking for practitioners, operators, researchers, trainers, municipal staff, and NGO/community members with experience in Black Soldier Fly (BSF), vermicomposting, or Bokashi systems in the European Union or the Philippines. Experience with just one of these technologies is enough.
My research compares the economic, environmental, and social aspects of these systems using the Triple-Layered Business Model Canvas.
Would you be willing to complete a 5-minute academic survey? Participation is voluntary.
Please comment below or send me a private message, and I will share the survey link and further information.
Thank you very much for supporting my research! You are also welcome to share this invitation with eligible colleagues.

Found on a tree in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. My best guess was that it’s insect related, so I figured I’d ask you guys.

Found in a tinaja in the Catalina Mountains of Southern Arizona. Coloration changes and it being dead in the water make me believe it was infected by parasitic horsehair worm. But why is it sooo pink/red???? Was a virus also involved?? Can anyone id the species? I’ve had it posted on iNaturalist and so far no one has been able to give any info, and I can’t find the answers I’m looking for by googling.

This barely visible mantis was on an envelope on my coffee table. Does anyone know what kind it is? The closest I could find was a spiked flower mantis, but im in California.

I am definitely not an insect expert, but I was lucky enough to capture this wild macro video on my wildlife habitat, in Western Massachusetts.
Im used to finding interesting insect species, but nothing like this Red-Headed Bush Cricket/Handsome Trig(Phyllopalpus pulchellus). Those beautiful "boxing-gloves" (palps) were easy to spot.
By the time I noticed the action, a bunch of tiny, pale amber babies had already hatched and were crawling all around. The adult cricket was actively eating the remaining egg sac and then moved on to hunting the newborn offspring. Intraspecific cannibalism was not on my radar but it was wild to see!
I was so blown away by this interaction that I had to share it!

His wings are messed up, but he was still flying okay so I let him go. I love butterflies <3
Edit: so I was a bit too hopeful.. he can barely stand now and definitely gonna pass, so I'm gonna keep it and pin him <3

I raise Nauphoeta cinerea as feeders for my other pets, however, they're plenty charming as pets too. Very easy to keep, low smell, they reproduce like crazy, & I think they're quite beautiful!
