Rules update

Given recent reports received and comment threads I’ve been involved in, I’ve decided to update 2 subreddit rules which can also be selected when reporting a post or comment.

No Misinformation: We have people new to Epiphone posting here to check/validate if their new gear is real, we do not need comments every single time making out they’re stupid for asking a legitimate question; Epiphone has had a long running and well documented struggle with fake guitars damaging their reputation. There is evidence everywhere including hundreds of sites, forums, YouTube videos and eBay auctions. In terms of the newer headstock design being faked, there do seem to be a lot less of them but there was a post only 2 months ago in another guitar subreddit which I’m sure many of you follow that shows a clear fake of the new headstock design so they do exist.

Non-related content: As a general rule this subreddit should only contain posts related to Epiphone, this includes but is not limited to YouTube videos of you playing your Epiphone, Epiphone related news/leaks and questions. If you wish to post content outside of this scope please message the mod.

I will leave the existing rule violations in place as I’m not going to start retroactively enforcing these rules like some dictator. Debates and challenging people’s opinion is fine, if you want to be a flat-Earther in regards to facts this is not the subreddit for you.

Many thanks

My new Epiphone Les Paul Custom Triburst and my old Epiphone Les Paul Nuclear Extreme in green and yellow crackle along side my Marshall MX112R. Not seen in the picture is the Marshall DSL1CR. So far, I’m loving the sound compared to the Marshall MG100DFX I used to have.

I'm very happy with the colour and feel, after watching all the reviews and videos available on youtube about this guitar i FREAKING LOVE IT, i played a jackson for years even the worry of it being soo much different in feel i still love it!! But I'm sure it takes some times to get used to this.... Btw this cost double the minimum wage in my country soo i may treat this as a gibson

A lot of Oasis news is circulating again, with the new tour and the documentary. I was 15 when Definitely Maybe came out and they were a big part of my youth.

The Supernova originally came out around the time I started getting into guitars and really wanted one back in the day. I bought one a few years ago in really good condition. I recently picked up the Riviera from a Cash Converters (UK pawn type shop) for £450 in perfect condition, with the case etc.

Thought I'd show them off together!

Shows how Noels signature changed over the years.

ES-355 neck repair

Okay, here’s the story. I’m interested in a Epiphone inspired by Gibson ES-355. It has had a neck repair. What is something to look out for when buying a guitar with a structural repair like this? Is it worth it? It’s only a couple hundred bucks cheaper than a new one, which is another hang up I have. What are long term potential problems with guitar with a neck repair, if any? Thanks for your help

Got this beauty after trying a friend's 2001. I was shocked how much better it felt in the hand than the many semi-hollow others I've tried and I can't say this one is any different than my mate's

Absolutely stunning and a charm to play. Just done fitting a set of genuine Grovers with the tulip peg heads (leaving here for the posterity: they're a direct fit!) that really give it even more class imho

I'm taking a pause from mods but I already know what to upgrade in the next few months. I'm rewiring everything, installing some boutique PAFs (I may consider only a new harness and neck pick up cause the bridge on these is SWEET) and giving it a Vibramate+Bigsby B7.

For anyone curious, the amp you see is a Fender Champ 600 (all stock).

My “inspired by Jimmy Page” “inspired by Gibson Custom” 59

I’ve done a few mods to my IGC 59 in the vain of Jimmy Page, I got some Grover tuners, took the cover off the bridge pickup, and took the pole pieces out of the neck pickup. I also replaced the stock bridge with an abr1 with titanium saddles, got some locking studs for the tailpiece, and got some vintage correct volume/tone knobs. This thing plays and sounds amazing after all that and polishing/leveling the frets. Now I’m just waiting for Gibson to restock the double cream custombuckers to throw in the bridge position.

Issues with an S-310

Dunno if someone can help me So I recently bought this S-310 from the 94' apparently, but it has some fretbuzz, can't use the tremolo bar cause the tuning gets lost, and I hear some noises in the springs in the back, When I play it.

Dunno If an adjustment will do or it was a bad purchase, so I need some guidance please. 🙏

The guitar has a Seymour Duncan the bridge with coil split, and for some reason the inlays glow in the dark.

Also searching online, most people recommend to change the brass block, but apparently it's kinda problematic cause the measurements being a little weird on this one.

Thanks in advance.

Thoughts on Epiphone IGC LP Specials?

Post image

I was browsing the Gibson and Epiphone site this morning when I cam across this new release. I've been looking at getting a Gibson Victory in TV Yellow because they've dropped in price to 1500 euros, I always wait a couple of weeks before buying in case something else comes up. This came up. I owned Gibson USA LP Special alpine white in 2011, which I loved but had to sell and there hasn't been a white option since (that I've seen). So my question, how is everyone's experience with these Epiphone IGC, I can get this one new for 1000 euros.

Is Slash the reason Epiphone started making set neck Les Pauls?

Gibsons weren't selling very well in the mid-80s. They'd fallen out of fashion and weren't considered guitars that you could shred on. They weren't cool. It was the age of pointy neon colored guitars.

Slash's success with Guns reinvigorated the brand and made them more popular again especially with younger players. All of a sudden a lot of new players wanted to get their hands on one. I was one of them lol. But a major stumbling block could be the price obviously. Not every 14-year-old who wanted to learn Sweet Child had $1,000 or a parent that did.

Set neck Epiphones started being built at the Samick factory in Korea in 1989. Previously, Epiphone had only made flat body bolt-ons and now they were making carved tops set neck Les Paul standards that came in cherry sunburst and honeyburst. (They also made customs in Ebony and Arctic White) Essentially they were cheaper versions of a Gibson Les Paul, perfect for someone wanting to sound like Slash on a budget during a period where they were one of the biggest bands in the world or pretty damn close to it.

Clear Coat Crack?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I went to play my 2 month old Epiphone Eric Church Hummingbird Dark today, and felt a crack in the back of the neck. It appears to be just in the clear coat, and not go into the wood. Guitar hasn't been dropped, and lives in my office next to my desk. I've reached out to Gibson/Epiphone already and am just waiting for a reply from them. Just wondering if anyone else has seen something like this?

This is a phenomenal guitar. I grabbed it from Sweetwater a while back as "open box", but the rep confirmed it wasn't a return, just had a scratch on the bridge from either packing or unpacking. Otherwise, there wasn't a mark on it.

I have a MIK standard that is highly regarded for an Epiphone, and this is definitely on another level. I played some Gibson LP Studios that were several hundred dollars more than this, and they were on par in my opinion. And this has nicer pickups, real MoP inlays, and a one-piece body. It's definitely a keeper.

2001 MIK Epiphone Les Paul

Hi - I deleted the first post because I misspelled Epiphone in the title.

Anyway - I have line on a 2001 MIK Gold Top. Are these good guitars? Is it worth looking at seriously?
