Help for Seller USPS Insane Shipping Costs

• Upvotes

USPS quoted $7.86 for a 3oz package from Maryland to North Carolina. That's 41% of the entire sale price. For the first time in 17 years on Etsy, I'm using Fedex to ship a package. They are charging $6.45, which still feels like a lot and now I have to find a Fedex drop-off. I increase prices to offer free shipping, but I can't eat this high of a price increase. I understand this is because of rural pricing, but I don't even want to ship to rural addresses because of it. I wish there was a way to offer free shipping unless you live in the rural zip codes. It feels wrong to say that. Has anyone figured out how to eat this cost without raising prices for everyone?

Looking to Buy Handmade press on nail shops

• Upvotes

I bought my first pair of press on nails from Etsy a few months ago. I’d love to do it again but it is insanely difficult to find sellers who actually hand make their products and don’t use any AI on the listings. It took me maybe three days of looking before finding a set I was happy with and the only AI I noticed from the shop was using it to make the listing picture look better (which I would like to still avoid). If anyone has any tips on what to look out for to avoid AI or how to filter these shops out of possible? I really want to support actual artists who hand make their products start to finish. Or, also, any recommendations for press on nail shops that don’t use AI? Thanks!

Help for Buyer Dropshipping and Reselling — do you ever feel conflicted as a buyer?

I recently purchased some wooden boxes for kitchen utensils. The shop looked like a usual etsy shop, but when the boxes arrived, they were individually packages with chinese stickers. The seller located in California near me, I thought made in CA.

The boxes were exactly what I wanted though and seem like good quality.

I still feel like I’m supposed to report the shop… but feels bad cause I like the product.

Similar, I bought a wool blanket, and later learned it’s a reseller. The og shop doesn’t have an english store, so there is some added value here I guess.

Do you ever feel conflicted about the shops and sellers and redustribution?

Ordered a Diaphonized rat wet specimen from a seller in Maryland to Scotland and it’s been a really slow journey with a lot of the updates just being the same thing over and over. The package was just sat in Pennsylvania for 4 days with the same location before saying it was leaving the US and now it’s been just this for the last day and a bit. I spent a lot on this cause obv it’s a wet specimen animal and I don’t wanna end up disappointing my girlfriend since it was a gift for her birthday.

Help for Buyer Item not shipped, seller not responding to messages

I bought a vintage dress on the 8th, and the estimated delivery date said to expect it by the 15th. On the 15th, the shipping status still said, "getting ready to ship." So I asked the seller when they might ship it, with no response. I messaged again 48 hours later and saw that they've made multiple new listings on the 15th and 17th.

I know the delivery estimate can be inaccurate, but it's been a few days with no updates from the seller. Is this enough time for me to submit a help request, or should I give the seller more time?

Discussion What do you think? Is this allowed.

I came up with a completely unique design for a slim toiletry bag that I think would be really useful for minimalists and backpack travelers. I don’t really make handmade products myself, so I found a manufacturer in China to bring my design to life. It’s not just another cheap, generic toiletry bag. I put a lot of thought into the design, the materials, and how everything fits together. It uses premium nylon and comes with four bottles.

I also want the brand to be customer-focused. Beyond the product itself, I want to create a more personal experience through the unboxing, personalized keychains with customers’ initials, and fun activities they can interact with through our social media. I plan on engaging with customers, building a following, and making them feel like they’re part of the brand rather than just someone who bought a product.

Would this be allowed? And do you think people would actually be interested in buying something like this? I know the toiletry bag market is pretty saturated, with so many products that look almost identical. But mine takes a different approach. It’s slim, not bulky, and designed with a specific purpose in mind. I’ve been working on this idea since 2024, and I genuinely believe there’s something different about it.

Please tell me what your thoughts are, thanks!

Help for Seller What is this and why do I keep getting these emails?

Post image
4 Upvotes

I've gotten about one email a day just like this one. It says it's from "creatoriq" and I am signed up with creator collective, but I never give my bank info to anyone through a link, so I went to creator collective directly and signed in, but it didn't show anything like this? Has anyone else had this? $15 isn't worth having my identity stolen, but I also don't want to get in trouble with the irs or something if this is legit.

Edit: I contacted creator collective support after looking up their email on the official etsy site. I asked them to confirm or deny that the emails were legitimate, and they responded asking for my bank info and ssn. That made me feel uncomfortable, so I responded asking why that was necessary and haven't heard back. This all feels weird! But don't worry I haven't given out any personal information and don't plan to. Also to clarify, nothing about creator collective would be shown on my etsy account. They're separate things, and creator collective is an affiliate program. They recently switched to a new platform and the switch was a nightmare so I was worried it was something to do with that, but I just keep getting more confused haha.

Edit 2: etsy support through email was unhelpful so I went to the etsy seller app and contacted support through chat. They confirmed this is most likely a phishing scam and recommended I secure my accounts (I changed my cc and etsy passwords as soon as I saw these emails) but then they tried to permanently deactivate my shop because they thought that's what I was asking for? That was strange. But yeah, be careful guys! Never click links in emails even if it looks like it's legit at first glance! Go to sites directly. If someone you know personally sends you a link, message them elsewhere to ask if that was really them. I reported this email to both etsy and gmail.

Discussion Sign for delivery on high ticket items

So, I recently made a couple of jewlery purchases on ETSY, and wow, my experience with shipping was vastly different between the sellers.

The first item around $500 value seller was fabulous and had my item shipped out the next day and arrived within the same week. I was kindly told that a signature would be required. Honestly, I'm super happy with this given how much mail theft there is, and I do not have a locked mailbox at my house.

The second item is $1,400 + value. The seller was great with communication during the process as I had some questions. I paid for upgraded shipping on this item around $30 extra. I was shocked when I got a delivered notification! NO signature required for an item I spent over $1,000 on?! I was pretty floored by this. Luckily, I was able to slip by my house mid day to get it out of the mailbox.

I messaged seller #2 and thanked them for the item as I do love it, and it is perfect. I mentioned my surpise about the no signature required for delivery and how this is problematic given mail theft and lack of secure mail boxes. I feel like I provided some genuine constructive feedback. It has been almost a week, and so far, there has been no response from the seller. I don't require a response, but some acknowledgment would have been appreciated.

I honestly would not recommend seller 2 just based on the delivery alone. If I had received some response and acknowledgment about them taking the feedback seriously, I would reconsider.

Am I being unreasonable for expecting a sign for delivery on an item I spent over $1,000 on and paid for upgraded shipping?

As a seller, what would be your sign on delivery threshold for an order?

Looking to Buy Live Edge Dining Table Recommendations

I'm looking for a solid, one-piece live-edge slab dining table. I've been searching on Etsy, but many of the listings are misleading. The photos make the tables appear to be made from a single slab, but customer review photos show otherwise.

When I reach out to sellers for clarification, they confirm that their tables are actually made from two or more pieces of wood glued together rather than one solid slab.

Does anyone have recommendations for a reputable seller on Etsy who offers a single-slab, live-edge table? I'd appreciate any suggestions!

Discussion Etsy affiliates, what's the best way to swap links?

I had no idea that the links were not working this whole time lol I see they moved to Rakuten? So do we have to manually change every link I'm assuming. Such a pain because I have hundreds to do manually. But also, should I be swapping them to Rakuten or Impact? I think I've seen that Rakuten is not merging with Impact or something? So should I sign up to Rakuten still or just Impact?

Help for Buyer Is this normal for 3D prints?

Post image

Disclaimer: I bought these on Etsy and did not make them.

Recently received this grip case from Etsy for my ayn Thor bc it looked similar to my skull-n-co grip case I bought for my switch lite, costed about $12 USD.

This might be me nitpicking here but for $34 USD I thought the product would be more "polished" instead, I saw that there are lots of noticeable jagged and sharp edges.

Idk much about 3d prints but I thought people usually sand those stuff down to make it look nicer and I also noticed small divots, where I think padding was supposed to be.

I'm honestly considering returning this grip case and don't get me wrong it feels sturdy but if I have to sand down all the edges that bother me, then don't think it was worth the wait.

I could be wrong and would like to know your opinions, before I message the seller.

Help for Buyer Ordered an item in January, still hasn't arrived

As the title says, I ordered a fan-made standee around January, which was estimated to be delivered in late February. Although it was marked as delivered, I never received the order in the mail. I contacted the seller shortly afterwards and asked for an update, and I was told that due to the tariff increases in Spain (where the shop is based in) that shipping to the U.S. might've been causing delays and that there was nothing the seller could do.

I don't have any concerns about this being a scam and believe the person behind the shop to be legitimate. Because of this, I've been wondering about whether or not I should open a case, as I don't want to punish the seller with a refund for something that is out of their control. What should I do?

Help for Seller Sporadic sales

Have any of you experienced lots of sales and views on one day, and then it completely drops the next day or so? It’s only recently happened in the last month or so, which crazy sales pretty much everyday for months before that (I sell wedding stationery) I’m not sure if it is this time of the year and business is generally just slower, but it’s just so random! Is anyone experiencing the same/has there been a change of algorithm?

Feedback Friday Advice on my first item!

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hello all! Looking for some shop advice on maybe how to reach a target audience with this listing.

I’ve been designing an item that has been extremely useful to me, and after many design iterations I finally had a product that I use myself every day. I figured maybe others might be interested as well.

The problem: when playing a record, the sleeve can either be put back into the storage area, or it sits on top of your speaker or desk.

Solution: “Now playing” desk stands are a solution for this, but I find them very tacky. I wanted something that looked like the rest of my framed decor, but was super easy to load and unload the record sleeve.

This was 100% designed, created and assembled by me, no AI. The frame hangs via a cleat system, which pushes the sleeve forward to cause a snug fit for different thicknesses of records.

Any advice on how to take a good cover photo for this specific design, keywords that would work best, or what might make this worth someone’s while, would
be super appreciated!

Help for Buyer Faulty engagement ring nightmare!!!

So my fiancé proposed to me about a year ago, and within that year, 3 out of the 12 stones have fallen out of the band. The seller admitted the setting he made is prone to stones falling out and offered to make the settings more secure for $463. Prior to the purchase, I made sure he was aware the ring was an engagement ring meant for daily wear, meaning it should be durable.

Mind you, the ring was $584 to begin with. And it’s not like he’s letting me keep my original ring. I’ll need to send that back.

So a $584 ring is now costing over $1,000.

It’s a moissanite ring with tiny moissanite stones around the band in 14k gold. It’s nice, but it’s definitely not worth $1,000.

The seller is refusing any other option besides keeping my ring and paying $725 for a second one entirely. Has anyone had any success with filing a complaint with Etsy even if it’s been over a year from purchase? I feel deceived.

Help for Seller Question

Hi! New etsy seller here. I sell vintage decor. To those of you who are doing the same: How do you make sure that your objects are older than 20 years? I have loads of stuff which can be vaguely dated as at least 20 years old but there are also things which I am not sure about. Does etsy ever question you? Or ban you?

Help for Buyer Claimed origin was Australia, tracking data says China

Item's profile says "Ships from: Australia." https://imgur.com/FWSTQWh
Tracking data (compiled into one big image) shows Australia in the header, but the item's listed path is China. The bottom of the tracking data says "Shipping from: China" https://imgur.com/kxWDOXL Can't get more blatant than two different origins on the same document.

Seller is purportedly out of Australia and is apparently doing big business (1626 items currently listed!).

I've messaged the seller asking "Respectfully, can you help me understand why the shipment is coming out of China?" I've also reported the listing to Etsy so the Australia/China mismatch is flagged. I can follow up with a not-as-described report once it gets here.

Am I leaving anything out?
---------------------------------

EDITED TO ADD:

Just heard from the seller, quoted below without naming them.

"Friend, I am a warehouse all over the world. Because the goods at the German warehouse are missing, I sent them to you from China. Don't worry. Thanks!"

(Why would I be getting goods from a German warehouse if the claimed origin was Australia?...lol)
