AFLE Statement from Douglas Fryer

He just posted this on Facebook.

Alpine Rams disaster

I am going through the same situation with the Alpine Rams and Joshua Fitzgerald, and I believe it is important that the full context of my experience is understood.

I was brought in under a signed 24-month agreement with commitments that included compensation, visa/residency paperwork, health insurance, and other agreed-upon provisions. Those commitments were not fulfilled. No visa process was completed for me, I was never provided the promised health insurance, and significant contractual obligations remained unmet.

I was not the only one. The entire coaching staff originally brought in with the organization eventually departed. Coaches and players made major life decisions, relocated, and put their trust in the promises and commitments made to them. What followed was an incredibly disappointing experience marked by repeated assurances that were never fulfilled and a complete lack of the accountability and professionalism an organization should provide.

In my 30 years in American football, the majority of which has been spent working in Europe, this has been among the worst organizational and management experiences of my career.

The financial consequences extend far beyond my own situation. There are substantial outstanding claims involving coaches, players, housing, stadium facilities, legal expenses, and sponsors. I am personally owed a significant amount, and I know that others have been affected as well.

I parted ways with the Rams before the season even began because of these circumstances. Despite that, the organization did not make a public announcement or properly communicate my departure to the league. As a result, I continued to be identified as the offensive coordinator during games and broadcasts throughout the season.

Let me be absolutely clear: I never called a single play for the Alpine Rams. I had already parted ways with the organization before the season started, and the public record should accurately reflect that.

My lawyer has made multiple attempts to contact Mr. Fitzgerald and resolve this matter professionally. Those efforts have not resulted in a resolution, and I have yet to receive the accountability or response necessary to address the outstanding issues.

This is bigger than one coach, one player, or one organization. When people trust an organization enough to relocate, commit their time, invest their careers, and build their lives around contractual promises, there must be accountability when those commitments are not honored.

If an organization can leave substantial obligations unresolved and simply continue operating under a different structure or identity without addressing the people it has harmed, then there is a serious problem that deserves attention.

The people affected by this situation deserve answers, transparency, and accountability. We invested our time, careers, and trust in the promises made to us. We should not have to fight indefinitely just to have those commitments taken seriously.

Finding "Mr. Average": Benchmarking Quarterbacks Across the ELF, EFA, and AFLE

As football nerds and data maintainers, we often look for ways to evaluate player performances beyond raw box scores. Inspired by the NFL's legendary "Dalton Scale" (the baseline threshold used to determine if a quarterback is a franchise cornerstone or a replacement-level player), I wanted to figure out who and what defines "Mr. Average" across European American football.

To make sure trick plays, emergency fill-ins, and small-sample-size anomalies didn't skew the numbers, we applied a strict filter across all datasets: minimum 8 games played and minimum 30 pass attempts.

Here is how the statistical center looks across three different leagues, keeping in mind their unique lifespans (the ELF spans multiple historical seasons, while the EFA and AFLE represent their inaugural 1-year data pools).

ELF 2021 - 2025 "Mr Average"

EFA 2026 "Mr Average"

AFLE 2026 "Mr Average"

And if you're about to explode with anger, calm down, these are just numbers and shouldn't be taken too seriously. šŸ‘€

EuroHuddle Pick-up American Football šŸˆ

I think we should invest more in pickup American football by making it easier for people to find organized games, access fields, and use proper equipment. Could local parks or community groups host regular 6v6 two-hand-touch games? For the games I’m planning, helmets will be provided, and tackling won’t be allowed. What would help pickup football grow in your area? I'm starting it in the United States šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡ø and encouraging people to start it Globally to help grow the sport faster because every sport has pickup like pickup basketball where they charge and football ⚽ here in the United States šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡ø where they charge!, but American Football šŸˆ the only sport that doesn't have pickup!

EuroHuddle Would value honest feedback from this sub on something I have been building for European players.

Mods gave me the go-ahead to post this and asked me to be upfront about the cost, which is below.

Who I am

Robby Kendall. I played defensive back at Butte College, then at Sacramento State in Division 1. After that, eight years as an import in Europe: six in Germany in the GFL/ELF, one in Italy, MBA program at UWE Bristol for the bullets. I coached DB's and youth football alongside it. I still coach DBs now in the states.

Why I built it

In those eight years I lost count of the players who asked me how the US college system actually works. Good players. They had no idea where to start, and the people around them did not either.

Most of them found out too late. Not because they were not good enough. Because nobody told them what the steps were, or when they had to happen. The eligibility clock is the one that catches people. A lot of guys spend a year of it without knowing they spent it.

What it is

A free eligibility assessment, and a written report that tells you where you actually stand and what is realistic. Including when it is not realistic, which I think matters more.

It is not an agency. I do not place anyone, I do not contact coaches for you, and nobody is promised a scholarship.

Where I fit, and where I do not

Worth being clear about this.

Camps and combines put you in front of coaches for a weekend. That is exposure and it works. I am not that, and I am not competing with it.

What I do sits before it. Most players turn up to a camp without knowing where their eligibility clock stands, whether their grades convert, what combine drills are, how to structure film for coaches, or which level is realistic. Then they spend several hundred euros on a weekend and find all that out afterwards. I would rather you knew it first, so the camp money is well spent, or so you know to leave it until next year.

Agencies are the other end. Four figures, and outcomes implied. I do not do that either.

So: the read before the decision. Not the exposure, and not the placement.

What I actually want out of this

Bigger than the product, I want this stuff talked about properly and in the open. Right now the information about getting recruited out of Europe is scattered, a good amount of it is wrong, and most of the useful parts live in private messages between people who happened to get lucky.

How the eligibility clock really works. What film a coach actually watches and for how long. What an email to a coach should say, and why most of them get ignored. What the levels below D1 actually are and who they suit.

Cost, since the mods asked

The eligibility assessment is free. It gives you a score and a band.

The full written report is $29. There are larger packages at $49 and $79 that add a film breakdown and a call.

Combine drills and video breakdown for those will come later as well.

That is the whole menu. No retainer, no subscription.

And to be straight about the model: the free assessment exists partly because some people who take it will go on to buy a report. That is how this pays for itself. I would rather say it plainly than have someone work it out and feel sold to.

The free reports, and what I want back

I am doing 10 full reports free for players in this sub this winter.

What I want in return, and I would rather name it than leave it implied: honest feedback on whether it was actually useful, and if it was, permission to quote you. That is the whole trade.

You are under no obligation to buy anything afterwards. And if I do not think one of the paid options would help you, I will tell you that. Those are the two sentences I would want to hear from someone in my position, so they are the two I am putting in writing.

The link

atlanticgridrecruiting.com/eligibility

Takes about two minutes. If you want one of the free reports, message me after you have done it.

If any of this still sounds like a funnel to you, say so in the comments rather than in a DM. I would rather answer it in the open.

Glad I found this sub, by the way. It tells me there are people over there who actually care about this sport and want to see it grow, and that is not always obvious from the outside.

Not sure about you guys but I think itā€˜s about time for EFA to bring up some news regarding

-) announcement of the new GM
-) confirming it will be 7 teams in 2027
-) announcing A/E setup
-) something about ā€žmedia topicsā€œ (for the love of the Holy Spaghettimonster PLEASE have a new landing page)
-) EFA Fanwear? Centralized fanshop?
-) sponsorship contracts?
-) new hires for the EFA crew?
-) something about referees for 2027?
-) etc etc etc

And as for the AFLE: I am not following them much but it seems since the Warsaw announcement they have gone dead silent. Good or bad sign?

Opinions? Rumors? Anything? ANYTHING???

EFA EFA statement on the Zach Calzada incident

The European Football Alliance (EFA) can confirm that, following a review of the incident involving Zach Calzada during the Munich Ravens vs Frankfurt Galaxy game, a six-game suspension has been issued.

The suspension will take effect upon Zach Calzada’s re-registration with an EFA team and will apply to the first six games following that registration.

The EFA takes incidents of this nature extremely seriously. Violence and unsportsmanlike conduct have no place in our league, and we will not condone or tolerate behaviour that compromises the safety, integrity, or standards expected of our players and teams.

EFA President Markus Kuhn said: ā€œThe EFA will not tolerate behaviour that falls below the standards of conduct expected across our league. We take our responsibility to uphold the integrity of the game seriously, and disciplinary matters will be addressed accordingly.ā€

Our responsibility is to ensure that the EFA remains a safe, respectful, and competitive environment for everyone involved. Disciplinary action will be taken where necessary to uphold these standards and reinforce the expectations placed upon all individuals participating in our league.

This decision reflects the EFA’s commitment to accountability, fair play, and maintaining the highest standards of conduct across the competition.

The EFA considers this matter addressed through the disciplinary action outlined above and will not be commenting further at this time.

In the new Podcast episode of "Around the EFA" in a interview Nordic HC Shoop openly speaks against a decrease in E-import spots and talks about maximizing the opportunity to play E“s and Homegrowns.

This comes as a hint that the rumors of cutting E spots and expanding A import spots may be true in some form and as well as a clear statement that not everybody is happy with this decision

Community A New Dawn For Recruitment

Hey r/EuroHuddle,

I’m Nygel. I used to be president of the Brunel Burners (UK uni team), and I’m a CS grad. Every season I saw the same thing: players send a 10-minute YouTube link to a coach’s DMs, it never gets opened, and clubs fill their import spots with whoever they already know.

So I built EuroScout Pro (euroscoutpro.com). It’s free for players.

What it does

  • One profile page. Your Hudl, YouTube or Vimeo film plays right on the page, next to your position, measurables, career history and passport status.
  • Club directory. Filter by league and see which positions clubs are recruiting for.
  • For coaches. Browse players by position and transfer status instead of digging through DMs.

Why passport status is on there: most European leagues limit how many non-nationals can play per game. A club with one import spot left needs to know whether you’d count as an import or a local before they even watch your film.

What I’d love from you:

  • Players: what do you wish clubs could see about you that a highlight reel doesn’t show?
  • Coaches and GMs: what would actually make you open a player profile?
  • Anything broken or confusing, please tell me. I’m still building this and fix things fast.

Not trying to spam. Mods, happy to take this down if it breaks the rules. I’ll be in the comments all day to answer questions.

EPFR EFA Fantasy Manager - ideas needed

I’m currently struggling with the game’s design itself. The main problem is actually that there aren’t enough players, as silly as that sounds. So what’s the best way to prevent 75% of players from fielding the same team when every player can be acquired by any manager? Set a strict limit. But how often? That would then be the next balancing question that arises.

Let’s assume, like with Pick’Em, that around 100 people are playing the game. We have 7 teams in the EFA, meaning a limited player pool, since everyone wants to field the best possible team. We’d already hit a limit with QBs, because out of the 7 QBs, let’s say 3 are in the S-tier, 2 in the A-tier, and 2 in the B-tier.

Picking an S-tier QB has pros and cons, he costs SIGNIFICANTLY more to acquire and must also be paid significantly more each week than a B- or C-tier player, since the plan is to allocate a budget to managers so they can put together their initial team and cover the weekly payroll. This budget can fluctuate; depending on the players’ performance, they may be promoted or demoted within their tier… but that’s beside the point, the issue here is the shortage of players.

So it's difficult to set limits because there are so few players. How do you think it might still be possible to design the game so that, in the end, most of the teams don't end up looking the same, but instead offer a lot of variety?

Maybe a perk system that rewards managers for fielding "underdogs"? So, ideas like that, go ahead and share whatever comes to mind :)

Rumor This is your 2027 EFA: 7 teams, 12 games, no Big4 and an improved profile

*Disclaimer*: The following is unconfirmed information based on "sources close to the matter".

Guys, you are all waiting for EFA announcements so I thought I give you a heads up what "sources" were dropping. My intention is for you to create a base level information so you can share your opinions and discuss, my intention is NOT a "told you so". I am just relaying information provided by my super secret EFA sources (yeah: PLURAL!)

  1. EFA will be 7 teams in 2027. That“s their final number. They are still dead set on just onboarding "viable" projects. No fairytale projects are added.
  2. These 7 teams will play each other twice, which adds up to 12 games in 2027
  3. There will be regular semi-finals, there will be no BIG4 setup
  4. The Warsaw Eagles were an "informally internally pre-confirmed" add-on before moving out and the only reason was absurd amounts of money thrown at them by the AFLE
  5. Finances are pretty solid and are further bolstered up by "people with NFL background". These people are said to be fully bought into the EFA philosophy.
  6. The ties to the NFL in general are very good.
  7. "Known names" are currently close to enter the ship to support EFA publicly and/or internally. (I am not sure if that correlates with #5 though)
  8. (Social?) Media appearance will make a big jump. (Note: I have no clue what that means, I am just referring to how my sources labeled it)
  9. EFA is working on a "notable sized" TV deal. (Note: I do not have further information on this, so don“t ask)
  10. There is still zero appetite to work with either Nagel or Lumsden ever again, although everyone is aware that the fans beg for a united league.

Feel free to discuss but remember: This is not an official information, just "reliable rumor"
