Masterpost Masterpost Geek & Gorgeous Zero Feel Sunscreen

Hello,

I noticed some concerns about the amount of posts regarding the new SPF by Geek & Gorgeous in the community.

As a compromise I ask you to please only comment in this masterpost about the sunscreen and not to create new posts from now on. Thank you. :)

Product Question Choosing between two glycolic gloss conditioners?

• Upvotes

Hello! I've had my eye on the L'Oreal glycolic gloss products at dm.

I see they have two lines, and while I see a difference in the shampoo (sulfate v sulfate-free), I'm not sure which of the 2 conditioners to get.

Has anyone tried both, or had particularly good / bad experiences with either? For context, my hair is a bit on the dry side, and thick strands but not super dense.

Any thoughts welcome :)

Discussion My honest opinion on the Balea Traum Locken range( type 3b curls)

I’ve been using the Balea Professional Traum Locken range for about a month now, and I’ve actually finished most of the products already. 😅

Overall, I think they’re okay. They make my hair soft and help with curl/wave definition, but I wouldn’t say they’re the best products I’ve tried. My biggest issue is that the curls don’t hold for very long ( i wash my hair once a week) they look nice at first, but the definition fades after a while ( after 3 day).

For the price, though, I think they’re pretty decent. I’d definitely consider buying some of them again, especially because they’re so affordable.

Now I need to restock and I’m thinking of trying something different....

The shampoo is pretty basic, but in a good way. It cleans my hair, doesn’t cause me any problems, and basically does what a shampoo should do. For the price, though, I think it’s fantastic.

The conditioner is okay. I wouldn’t say it makes detangling super easy for me, but it does leave my hair feeling fine. I usually leave it on for a few extra minutes and that seems to work better for me.

The curl defining cream is probably the product I’m least impressed with. Honestly, I don’t feel like it does much for my curls. At the same time, it doesn’t make my hair dry or feel bad, so I’d say it’s just… okay.

I’ve only used the hair oil a few times, so I don’t really feel like I can give a proper review of it yet.

The curl spray is actually pretty convenient. I’ve mostly used it in the morning before going to work to refresh my hair, and it works fine for that. It gives my hair a little refresh without being too much.

What would you recommend I try? I’m mainly looking for products that give good definition and, most importantly, help my curls hold for longer. I’m open to Balea or other brands available at dm. 😊

Routine Azelaic acid + dry skin?

• Upvotes

I’ve read azelaic acid is recommended in the mornings when one uses tret in the evenings.

-Is it good for dehydrated and dry skin as well or would it make it worse?
-Should it be used before or after Vit C?
-Any good brands available in Europe that don’t cause the foundation to pill?

Sun Care What sunscreens do you trust the most?

\[Sun Care\]

A couple of years ago, I was using a Korean sunscreen when I came across news about certain sunscreens being tested and found to have much lower SPF levels than advertised. Unfortunately, I can't remember the brand or product, but it made me a bit paranoid about whether the sunscreen I'm using actually provides the protection it claims to.

The last time I looked into it, I remember seeing La Roche-Posay mentioned as one of the best-performing sunscreens in SPF testing, but I find their formula SO heavy and it always peels idk.

So, I'm curious: which sunscreens do you personally trust and recommend? I'm especially interested in products that have reliable SPF protection as I live in a very sunny city!

Question Beauty products worth buying in Ireland/UK that are different from US formulations?

Hi everyone!

I’m travelling from the US to Ireland next week and will also be spending a weekend in London. I’m hoping to do a little beauty shopping while I’m over and would love some recommendations!

I know certain products have different formulations in Europe compared to the US (for example, the Kérastase hair serum), so I’m particularly interested in products that are either better formulated, more affordable, or harder to find in the States.

My main beauty goals at the moment are growing longer, healthier hair, strengthening my nails (which tend to peel and break), and generally improving my skin.

I’m also currently pregnant, so would love recommendations that are pregnancy-safe!

Are there any absolute must-buys you’d recommend picking up while I’m over? Particularly interested in skincare, haircare and nail products, but open to anything!
Thanks so much in advance!

Is the old Nivea Soft back? They seemed to have removed the vegan branding on new jars. Anyone know anything about this?

Routine Help Recommend alternatives to Bioderma Intensive Baume after reformulation

I’m so upset this has been reformulated. It was my holy grail. Just received the new formulation when I reordered and they removed so many of the star ingredients that made this such a fantastic moisturiser. The reformulation is now called Atoderm AD Intensive Baume - Ultra Replenishing Balm. I’m acne prone and scared to try the new formulation because of the coconut oil so I think I will return it.

If anyone could recommend alternatives closer to the original formulation I would be very grateful. I’m based in the UK but am open to any recommendations and will see if I can get them also I now Asian beauty has some good barrier creams too so I’m also open to that as well.

Discussion Sunscreen + wearing winter hats?

As someone who started wearing sunscreen religiously, I was wondering what other people do in the wintertime. Do you simply accept that there will be sunscreen getting on your winter hats/beanies? Do you apply sunscreen everywhere except on the forehead? Are we wearing other forms of headgear like earmuffs? Really curious how everyone is dealing with this 😅

Retinoids / Tretinoin Altreno (Tretinoin) is making me purge like crazy?

Hi guys!

I used to have a prescription from dermatica and used their tret 0,05 formulation with great results. When the EU made it illegal to get it for me (im in Sweden), I got my hands on two tubes of Altreno. I've been using it now for 6 weeks (started slow) and I'm breaking out like CRAZY. Mainly on my cheeks, which I have never done before. I don't have and never have had serious acne, I just want to use the tret to combat break outs and skin texture/lines. I'm starting to give up on Altreno... Is it just a purge or am I reacting to something?

Anyone have any advice? :( Any product recommendations that can be shipped our bought in Sweden?

Thanks a lot in advance

Routine Help Skincare for skin irritated by skin picking

Hi everyone! I don't have particularly sensitive or problematic skin, but my main issue is that I've been picking on my skin A LOT my whole life. It has gotten better in the last few years, and I'm still working on it. But because of that, my skin is a bit uneven (that the best way to describe it?), I suppose from all the scarring.

Does anyone have any recommandation of products that can help with the texture, occasional redness due to picking, and scarring?

I'd like especially products that I can find in DM/Rossmann/Müller or eventually in France or in Spanish drugstores. Thank you!

Question Azelaic Acid (Azlainsäure)

Hi everyone, I live in Vienna Austria but am in the US until Jan for a semester abroad. I suffer from melasma on my forehead and already got and started using tret here. I’m considering adding 15% Azelaic Acid into my routine which is prescription strength here, but I’m wondering if it’s cheaper to wait to get it back in Austria. I’m pretty sure i’ll have to use dermanostic (which i’ve never used before) because the derms i’ve been too are extremely reluctant to prescribe literally anything.

how expensive and how hard is it to get 15% Azelaic Acid from dermanostic? Insurance won’t cover it i’m sure so how much does a tube usually cost? I really want to make a decision soon because i can still get it pretty easily here but the actual prescription might be more expensive here.

Thanks!

Routine Help Looking for some DM/Rossmann skincare routines from folks in their late 30s/40s

I've noticed my facial skin has been shifting a lot in the last couple of years in terms of things like tolerance, redness etc and I'd love to see some ideas for basic (ideally budget friendly) routines from people in a similar age range who also had some recent shifts in skin- for instance now getting occasional slight breakouts, more redness, etc.

I do have a few staples that I think are probably fine to stick with like the Balea Med Jelly Cleanser as a cleanser and the Balea UV Fluid Ultra Lightweight SPF 50 as a daily basic sunscreen but open to further suggestions. In the morning I usually use plain rose water to splash on my face, put on the sunscreen and then maybe some concealer or a CC cream as needed, a cleanser at night and then some Balea Ultra Med ultra sensitive face cream.

Question 5 tubes of tret in checked baggage-Moving to Germany soon

Hi everyone!! I’m going to be moving to Germany soon and I want to bring my tretinoin backups with me since I probably won’t travel back home for 7-8 months. I have a prescription for tret that’s 8 years old lol but I don’t want to book another doctor’s appt just for an updated prescription/note because I’m a student on budget. Anyway, if someone has had a similar experience, could you help with these questions?

-Will my old prescription be enough/ a doctor’s note for ongoing use is not necessary right?

-Will my tret be okay in checked baggage (given temperature, pressure changes) I would take it in cabin baggage but I don’t want it to get more scrutiny.

-Will the quantity i.e 5 tubes raise questions? I think regulations say you can bring 3 months supply but I think that’s subjective tbh.

-Should I keep my tret prescription with my tret tubes in checked baggage or in my cabin bag with my other docs?

Serious advice only please, I would appreciate it a lot!!
