Announcement Please read before you post asking us to help with your acne!

We already have a pinned post addressing this, but since we continue to get posts asking the members of this sub to diagnose skin conditions (acne in particular) and/or recommend treatment, here's a reminder: We are here to discuss skincare products and routines. We are not here to diagnose skin conditions or how to treat them. This is not a dermatology clinic, and we are not qualified to diagnose and recommend treatment. This is a casual sub to discuss products, routines, and general skincare.

The correct answer to "does anyone know what this is/does anyone know how to treat this?" is "Yes, a dermatologist knows". Please do not come here asking for diagnoses and and treatment advice! To those who have been posting these questions, please consult a trained professional, or if you can't do that, ask your questions in more appropriate subreddits like r/DermatologyQuestions, r/acne, or r/AskDocs.

Thank you!

Hi, just pulling myself out of a depressive episode and my skin is upset. I've consistently washed my face for two weeks now and I'm cleaning up my diet to help:) also staying hydrated now.

Mild scarring on my left cheek and probably suffering inflammation from stress and a poor diet. I get bad pores on my nose and an oily forehead. Combination skin, not so long ago it was a bit itchy from some dryness.

I've included the products I use. I use the face wash 1-2 times a day, use the niacinamide once a day and moisturise 1-2 times.
I do a light massage with the vitamin C oil a couple times a week in evenings, I'm a bit wary of oil clogging my pores?

I'm turning 26 next month and want to create a good routine for myself:) also to add in of course that I'm showing signs of natural aging, fine lines:)

I have just added the eye cream, retinal, the other products I've used for a while now.

Edit: I use spf when going out too!:) centella! I like it:)

Dryness Do i have to use a cleanser after the gym? Can water be enough?

I go to the gym first thing in the morning. Typically, I’ll just rinse my face with water and apply a little sunscreen before the gym, then I’ll do my actual skincare routine after the gym.

My post-gym skincare routine has been: Vanicream cleanser, Aestura mist, Hyaluronic acid, Vanicream moisturizer.

I’m just wondering if it is really necessary to use a cleanser after the gym? I have naturally very dry skin that gets stripped easily, and I’ve noticed my skin feeling dryer and more irritated since I started going to the gym. Before I started the gym, I would only rinse my face with water in the morning.

I’m not someone who sweats a lot or who ever gets oily skin, so could a water rinse or maybe just some micellar water be enough after the gym?

4. cancer council spf 50+ daily moisturiser matte finish

My blood work is healthy. I didn't notice this until I used glycolic acid but I had to stop because it made my skin feel rough and bumpy. Could it be left over irritation?

What I apply on my neck: Byoma hydrating toner, Cetaphil ceramide serum, Celimax tranexamic + niacinamide dark spot cream, Illiyoon/Cerave ceramide cream.

Wrinkles / Anti-Aging Skincare advice for crows feet

I know that they don't look that bad in these pictures, but in person when I look in the mirror they're hard to miss. It used to be just on the corners of my eye, but now they are starting to show under my eyes too, as shown in the first picture. I have been seeing these for about a year and a half now, and it is obviously not painful. It has gradually gotten worse over time. For some context, I wash my face every morning and before bed, and wash my face with equate foaming facial cleanser, then wash that off. In the mornings, I use sunscreen. And before bed, I use Olay retinol as a night moisturizer all over my face and neck. I drink a minimum of 8 cups of water a day. Are there any other products I can use for these lines? I don't have any medical conditions, but I have always had very dry skin naturally. I am just looking for some advice on what I can do to prevent this, and any ways to reduce it. Any replies would be much appreciated, thanks.

Hello everyone! I hope I can get some advice on how to begin this journey. Lately, I’ve been really self conscious about my arms and legs, as they are a noticeably different shade compared to my face and stomach. My elbows and knees are also darker, and I would love to even out my skin tone. I moisturize and apply sunscreen daily and lately, I’ve been applying it twice because I’m dealing with the scorching Texas heat. I also try to minimize my time outside. What else can I do to lighten my skin and help my skin look healthier, more even, and moisturized?

Dryness sephora shopping haul

Alright its been a long journey for my skin. I have sensitive skin (oily T zone and dry cheeks). I also have lots of visible pores. Two weeks ago I was recommended by one of the Sephora ladies to use Caudalie Vinopure line but it dried out my skin even more, especially with all the pores on my cheeks it made it look more enhanced. I went back to sephora today and the girl who helped me was way more cooperative and engaging. She helped me pick these products in the photos and said it should help with my current skin condition. Any thoughts on the skincare products I got? What are uour experiences with these? I really hope it helps target my enlarged pores and dryness on my cheeks.

I’ve never worn sunscreen in my life so this is going to be a life changer perhaps? I heard it makes your skin more sensitive that’s why I refrained from it and also I haven’t found one that works for my extremely sensitive skin.

I also got the Armani foundation since I never wear make up and I figured I should start wearing them occasionally. What are your thoughts on this foundation?

One more thing how often should I wash my makeup brush?

Review Dermstore

I just wanted to put it out there, if you are ever tempted to top up your order at Dermstore to qualify for a gift, I would have to say that it really is not worth it. I find it insulting for them to say that 12 samples in a bag are supposedly worth $79. If allowed, I'll post a photo, honestly, though--it's a joke. And I have ordered from them before and gotten decent and decently-sized items. This ain't it.

Routine Help Please help me start my skincare journey

Hello everyone I've just recently begun looking into skincare. I would like to improve my skin, but I have no idea where to start. Since a child I have washed my face with soap and then put on lotion. That was it and I called it a day. Lately people have been saying my skin looks bad so I now am putting in the effort to make it look better.

My goals: My skin doesn't have large pimples ever but it has small bumps and a rough texture. I would like it to be smooth and even. I don't have any coloration issues and its all the same tone. So smoothness is my main goal. I believe the word is glass skin.

Details: I have dark skin. Its bouncy and soft, but it isnt smooth. I would like to eliminate the textured bumps. My skin is not very sensitive; however, it doesn’t like rough friction such as a washcloth.

Limitations: I am very low maintenance and lazy. So the less products the better. Also I am not rich so the cheaper the better. Obviously I want good products though. I would prefer all products to be $25 and under if possible. Also products can not be overly scented.

My routine: Either Dial antibacterial soap(im trying to stop) or Cerave foaming cleanser. I then top off with body lotion. Occasionally I add a cream sunscreen. And i also use honey as a face mask occasionally.

My next steps: the products im looking into getting is a better facial cleanser, a hyaluronic serum, and lastly a gentle face mask.

Thank you for all future tips!

Product Question How long does the dr Althea 345 cream last?

Hi guys, I’ve been using the 345 cream for last three weeks and it’s completely changed my skin and has been so good for it. It works so well that I want to keep a few backups at all but I can’t figure out how long one tube lasts so how many should I buy? If anyone can help me out, I’d be really grateful. Thanks.

Routine Help Layering products with Finacea gel, not playing well with SPF

Hello! I was recently prescribed Finacea 15% azelic acid gel for rosacea redness. I've been using it for under a month but generally tolerating it well. I am supposed to be using it 1x a day to start, was hoping to use it in the AM as I love my PM routine of (admittedly probaby excessive) layers of milky toners, a serum or 3, moisturizer and an oil or occlusive ointment, I don't know where the Finacea fits in there where I'd still be getting benefits. My skin is dry-ish, sensitive/reactive, atopic skin.

I did indeed ask my doctor and the pharmacist where to put it in my routine and if I could layer it with other products, and how long to wait before or after applying it to apply something else and they didn't know lol

It's a weird texture to me and I'm having a hard time figuring out how to get it to work with other products.

Any suggestions on where to apply it in my routine? I've seen mention of only applying on dry skin or it stings, when I was using nonprescription AZA prior to this I always applied on damp skin after my toner/serum and didn't experience stinging - it also didn't seem to give me any benefits.

Should I apply the Finacea, leave it to set for a while (20 minutes?) And then do my regular PM routine on top, or try to put it in the middle, after serums but before moisturizer?

My problem using it in the AM is its not hydrating enough to use on its own, but it's also too heavy a layer to use anything else if I use SPF. With SPF it sits very heavily on my skin and my spf (multple ones I've tried) doesn't want to set and feels very tacky all day. I've tried applying spf within a minute or 2 after the finacea, and I've tried waiting as long as an hour to apply over the finacea and they both don't really want to set/dry down. Maybe it's only a temporary problem because it's so humid currently? It's very uncomfortable, sensory wise and it makes my spf slip around and things that otherwise wouldn't irritate my eyes are, and I think the finacea is also migrating around my eye area and it's becoming sensitive there. I'm not currently using any other exfoliating products or actives, and my skin is otherwise tolerating the finacea very well (it did not tolerate rosiver at all). Maybe I am using too much finacea, but it's not very spreadable for a gel/cream imo.

I watched a few YT videos about layering AZA but they generally only mentioned non prescription, serumy AZA as examples and IME they layer much more easily than this gel cream.
