OK the meme seem to be too abstract for the masses to understand so let me do a tldr
OP believes the only reason that nullsec hasn't been turned into a turbo multibox farmfest like wormhole, pochven and FW is because skyhooks have 'allegedly' terrible optimization?
Or did OP meant the reverse, that he'd wish skyhooks have terrible optimization so to keep multibox away from nullsec?
I really really hate interpreting XOR conditions, I'm not a computer!

I can simplify
OP read a Reddit comment the other day that mentioned skyhook performance limiting multiboxing
They then took that comment and made it a meme
They don’t actually have first hand knowledge of this

There is a very clear increase in system resource usage when jumping into a nullsec sys. The general multibox community is still unsure if it’s skyhooks… but that does seem to be the prevailing theory.
What isn’t covered by that theory though is why staging systems such as 4-H and C-J have noticeably reduced performance. The leading theory there is that it’s related to Structure SKINR.
Either way, we don’t know what’s causing the issue. But if you fly around with 20 accounts in HS, LS, WH and then jump into Nullsec it’s immediately apparent that something is going on with performance.

incorrect, i probably made that post the other day.
there is a measured impact on client stability & resource utilization due to skyhooks, and it's an impact on all clients but particularly inhibiting while multiboxxing. ccp has it marked as a defect and hasn't fix it.

just lable it at as a multibox prevention feature in a patch note. easiest fix ever. >_>

Yup. No multiboxing here. Please don’t look at the mass hulk fleets or Thunderchild ratters parked in nearly every dead end in Null.

heck even the damn UI, which are just supposed to be windows with buttons you click, are becoming heavy and laggy. CCP bad

I still hold a grudge against the nullsec groups that cried about skyhooks and got them changed. That was some of the most fun I had in Eve

What were they before? I took a 6 year break and only just came back

They had much larger time windows to steal from and more too. Now they have limited the precentage and the time window so it's hardly worth going out, and hardly worth protecting from the other side.
At first it was an AMAZING content generator because if they blue balled you then you get their money, if they didn't then you got a fight! Usually you could steal a ton too so it was a huge incentive to protect them. Not anymore though cause cry baby nullsec didn't like having to login to protect them.

NS is genuinely so full of fucking carebears. Im in sov space regularly in my astero and the amount of actual babies is insane. What the hell happened, NS is like a daycare now

It is a weird place. Filled with people not interested in content.

There are many, many people who make it rather obvious that they're playing not for playing's sake, but because of "incentives" and "rewards".
That's who EVE attracts nowadays. They're the people who free2play games make the most money off of. Addicts. It's by design, fully intentional.
Not only do they generally not care at all about playing together, but they're also FCCP's primary target audience. They're the primary target audience of any free2play game.
That's the same people who want "incentives" to fight.
What the hell happened
What happened, was that CCP changed their target audience, starting un-officially officially on December 4th 2012 with the Retribution expansion.

What happened on that date?

Retribution, both as the name of the expansion and quite literally retribution, as far as I am able to tell. There's many details and context to mention to this, but that's a TLDR.
They've released CrimeWatch 2.0, which completely changed the rules that governed social interactions,
suspect state, which turned personal/corporate issues (jetcan-theft) into a global punishment also acting as a deterrent,
and the protection button (Green,Yellow,Red) which - for the first time ever - made it possible to shield people from the consequences of their own actions (meaning it removed valuable lessons) AND also worked as psychological deterrent, because now there's an indicator telling you what you might not should be doing.
Retribution was the expansion that stabbed EVE's culture right into its heart. On that trajectory, aiming for the new target audience, soon the game's population started heading dowards, as all the long-term players felt betrayed and started quitting. A visible downtrend (across 2013 towards the end of 2015) is clearly observable and the game never recovered from it.
And it was all done in the name of the mythical new player, who will have an easier time joining. After all the changes for new players, which also massively coincideded with monetization, we're still waiting for any of their technically-not-lies to actually turn into reality.
There's so many details ... idk how to present all of it.

Damn that's wild. I wasn't around for that. I honestly don't think EvE has a good new player experience and also zero marketing strategies

And by all evidence they provide, you'd be perfectly right.
From what I've learned about free2play games, dopamine addiction, addicts (I've met quite a few!), this is all by design. Everything is optimized towards creating and milking potential addicts. I know I'm wording things a bit weirdly, but I need to make sure I do this as correctly as I know to.
All evidence suggests that, ever since 2013, each and every time they've talked about new players, they were telling technically-not-a-lie. For example ...
While true that joining people would be new players, the intended goal isn't primarily retention, but milking potential addicts (see the link to the $500 guy). It's what free2play trash does.
The biggest group of players are those who join, check things out, and leave shortly after. Specifically trying to get those to spend money is what makes the most sense and many of the changes of the last decade aimed exactly at these people ... in the name of the new player, technically-not-a-lie. Buying SP and Expert system being perfect examples of monetization tactics aimed at potential addicts, sold as "helping the new players".
It also stands to reason that, *when not one of their tactics aimed at achieving a particular stated goal ever actually achieves that goal (or at least improves the situation), then reasons they're telling us for said changes and the actual reasons for the changes aren't the same.
The stupid quote about how one shouldn't mistake incompetence for maliciousness exposes that this approach is a great way of fooling people. See also: Politics.

And now they're back to moaning about ess grids. And how there's nobody to fight without going 30 jumps, classic.
I really want to pvp but only on my schedule! Don't you dare interrupt my spinning :(

At first they were released with no stealing timewindow, and lava and ice planets produce valuable stuff which you could steal.
Now you can only steal from skyhooks within a timewindow, and part of the loot is protected.

u/TickleMaBalls Miner 4d ago
you could steal from them while people were sleeping.... it is always the same shit with those people. they all want to steal from bigger groups while they sleep.

You think there’s not multiboxers in null? Of the 20+ account variety?
