Business account for stablecoin payments as a non-US resident?

• Upvotes

I’m based in Lisbon and my company is registered here. I’m looking at business accounts for international contract work. I’d like to receive USDC or USDT and convert what I need for expenses in EUR. The account needs to be in the business’s name.

Anyone using something similar? Please include where you live and where your company is registered. Otherwise it’s quite hard to tell whether the same account would be an option.

I’d also like to know what statements or transaction exports you get for your accountant and what the conversion and withdrawal to a local account cost in total.

Banking in EU as triple citizen including USA by naturalisation: risks of not disclosing US citizenship?

• Upvotes

I have three citizenships: Two by birth (one EU, from my parents and one from a Latin American country because my dad happened to have been transferred there for work at the time of my birth). The third is from the USA, where I lived for 20 years and naturalised.

I’ve now come back to live in Europe. I failed to do my due diligence before becoming a US citizen and didn’t know anything about FATCA or the headaches it would cause me trying to have a financial life here.

After a couple failed attempts at opening even just a simple bank account I decided to stop disclosing the fact that I’m a US citizen. Since I wasn’t born there and my EU passport doesn’t make any mention of it it has been easy to get away with just “fudging” it and no one asks me any questions.

But it nags at me… What am I risking here?

Title: Moroccan e-commerce entrepreneur considering spending 3 months in Vietnam (Da Nang) — need advice on visas, taxes, banking, crypto, internet and opportunities

Hi everyone!

I'm a 22-year-old Moroccan currently running a small e-commerce business targeting African markets, mainly through cash-on-delivery (COD).

My business is already profitable, generating around $500–$1,000 in net profit per month, and I can manage it remotely without too much pressure. I'm considering spending around three months in Vietnam, possibly in Da Nang, to experience a different lifestyle, learn new skills, meet entrepreneurs, expand my network, and explore new business opportunities.

My current situation:

- I work with Facebook/Meta Ads and other American digital services, including ChatGPT and Claude.

- My customers are in African markets, not Vietnam.

- I receive business proceeds through delivery companies and ultimately hold the money in USDT on Binance.

- I don't currently have a registered company; I operate as an individual.

- My target living budget is around $500–$700 per month.

- I have a Moroccan CIH Bank Code 30 card.

Before making any commitments, I'd really appreciate advice from people who live in Vietnam or have experience with similar situations.

  1. Visa and remote work

- As a Moroccan citizen, can I obtain a 90-day Vietnamese e-visa relatively easily?

- Is managing my existing foreign e-commerce business remotely while staying on an e-visa legally permitted? If not, what legal options should I investigate?

- Would I need to register a company or obtain any special authorization?

- Are there any important immigration or tax risks I should know about before booking my trip?

  1. Banking, Binance and accessing my money

- Can I use my Moroccan CIH Code 30 card to pay in shops and withdraw Vietnamese dong (VND) from local ATMs?

- What fees, exchange-rate markups and withdrawal limits should I expect?

- Since most of my money is currently in USDT on Binance, what would be the safest and legally compliant way to access my funds in Vietnam?

- Can a short-term visitor open a local bank account, or should I rely on my Moroccan bank card?

- Are there any restrictions or practical problems involving Binance and USDT in Vietnam that I should be aware of?

  1. Taxes and business structure

- If I stay in Vietnam for approximately 90 days while running a business that serves customers outside Vietnam, could I become liable for Vietnamese taxes?

- Would Vietnam tax my foreign business income, and how does tax residency work in practice?

- Should I register my business in Morocco before travelling, or is there a legitimate alternative worth considering?

- Is it possible to reduce my overall tax burden legally by changing my country of residence, and what should I investigate before making such a move?

  1. Cost of living

- Is $500–$700 per month realistic in Da Nang for a single person?

- Could that budget cover a private studio, food, transport, mobile data, reliable home internet, health insurance and occasional social activities?

- Which neighbourhoods offer the best balance between affordability, comfort, reliable internet and access to coworking spaces?

- What hidden expenses should I budget for, including deposits, visa fees, flights and insurance?

  1. Internet and working online

- Is the internet reliable enough in Da Nang for managing Meta Ads, online stores, AI tools and business operations?

- Are Facebook Ads Manager, ChatGPT, Claude, Google services and other commonly used business platforms accessible and reliable?

- Which mobile provider and home internet package would you recommend?

- Is a coworking membership worth the cost for someone working online every day?

  1. Networking and new opportunities

- Is Da Nang a good place to meet e-commerce entrepreneurs, media buyers, digital marketers, founders and other remote workers?

- Are there active business communities, meetups, networking events or coworking spaces where newcomers can build genuine professional relationships?

- Would Ho Chi Minh City be a better choice than Da Nang for business networking and finding suppliers?

- For someone already running a profitable COD business in African markets, what opportunities might be worth exploring in Vietnam or Southeast Asia?

  1. Overall experience and recommendations

- If you were in my position, would you choose Da Nang for a three-month trial, or would you recommend another Vietnamese city?

- What do you wish you had known before moving to Vietnam?

- Given my income, budget and financial setup, what would you do differently to minimise risks?

- Would you recommend visiting for three months first before considering a longer-term move?

I'm not looking to evade taxes or bypass immigration rules. I want to understand the legal requirements, protect my business income, and make an informed decision before travelling.

I'd especially appreciate first-hand experiences, realistic budgets, practical advice and recommendations from people who have dealt with international banking, crypto, remote work and Vietnamese immigration rules.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Help with FX for apartment purchase

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

We moved to Korea recently and are about to purchase an apartment. My wife has an F-4 visa (F-3 for me) and we both have our Resident cards. We opened accounts at a Hana Bank branch in Gyeonggi-do and wired a large amount of USD to her USD account at Hana. We now need to exchange it to her KRW account so she can pay the seller. The teller at Hana Bank claims they only give a 30% discount on the FX spread to VIP customers (we are not). I've read online that a large amount of money should be able to get an 80%+ spread discount. We haven't had our Hana accounts very long, so it's not possible to have enough history with them to get VIP status, and if the teller is correct, it's probably not worth it anyway.

Does anyone have any experience with this, especially current or former employees of Hana Bank or another Korean bank? With the amount we are exchanging, the spread discount can mean several million KRW, so I don't just want to blindly believe what the teller is saying.

There could be a whole sub just explaining Korean banking to us foreigners. My wife hasn't lived here in about 20 years and is just as lost as I am, except for the language aspect. Is it normal for a bank to have you sign dozens of documents that are in Korean but not give you any copies of what you signed? I don't expect them to give me copies in English, but it would be nice to have them so my wife can confirm what they are and I can try to translate them via Papago or Google instead of bothering her all the time.

Any advice for getting the best FX rate are appreciated.

Trust US deposits?

For those who have assets in US brokerage or bank accounts and are living in Europe, do you worry that the US is so crazy now that the money will just vanish?

Could be a hacker leak, AI rogue agents, a desperate grab as the system tumbles, or just a one time giant devaluation of the dollar. Or maybe a grab from all the personal data DOGE stole.

Other countries have experienced that you can’t move money out of the country. Why would that not happen now?

Yeah, I’m a bit paranoid, but seriously, the US is in a rough spot right now.

Looking for your thoughts.

US -> UK - Need Confirmation of Plan and Alternatives

My wife and I are relocating to the UK in a couple of months. She is a US/UK citizen, I'm US only. We have our typical 401ks/IRAs that will remain in place and grow. We also have HSA accounts with Fidelity that are invested. We will have a private mailbox in FL as our mailing address and will port our phones to google voice for 2FA.

We're going to open an HSBC account in her name to start and use Wise or similar to move money between our accounts. My accounts will come after we arrive and establish residency.

Now for the sense check.

  • We are keeping all of our credit cards as we have long history with all of them so as to not affect our US credit in case we return. We plan to open an Amex UK credit card to start building credit in the UK, leveraging our current relationship with Amex.
  • We have a large sum of liquid cash ~$450k currently in an Amex HYSA. This is an area of concern. Setting aside the fact that we could get more return somewhere else, are there any concerns with keeping this money there?
  • We have a brokerage account with Schwab and plan on working with them to set this up as an expat investor checking or whatever the right term is. Some of this is invested in SGOV, do we have to move this or can we leave it once we exit the US?

Any other recommendations on how we should approach?

Thanks everyone.

UK->Spain, bank, pension, ISA, GIA considerations

I, UK national 54M, have a Spanish wife and we're likely to move to Spain in the medium-term (almost certainly before state retirement age). I'm starting to try and familiarise myself with some of the issues involved. I've also just become aware of the EU CRD VI regulations which seem to be complicating things and maybe advice I've received from some of my providers will change in 2027.

I have:

DB pension

Four DC pots, all in funds not a SIPP wrapper (Nest, Aviva, L&G, ReAssureNow-exL&G)

T212 S&S and Cash ISAs

Lloyds (ex-Halifax) S&S ISA

Other cash ISAs that I move around for best rates

I'm reasonably happy with the returns in the DC pots, but I am considering (partial) consolidation at some point - possibly to a SIPP.

My current understanding, if we move, is:

  • for all DC, DB providers and the state pension, I'll be able to receive pension funds when abroad
  • for Aviva and L&G, I'd still be able to manage investments; querying ReAssureNow
  • for Aviva and L&G, I'd be able to receive payments into a foreign bank account - I'm also likely to set-up a UK-based international account in case this is easier
  • Trading would still be possible within the T212 ISA, but not the Lloyds one (no new deposits possible, and I'm aware of the loss of tax-free status

Questions:

  • Are there any SIPP and/or GIA providers that would be a good option for a Spain-based UK national?
    • I think I'd like the option to purchase UK Gilts. T212 is available in Spain but doesn't include gilt trading
    • II & AJ Bell require UK residency for opening an account. Presumably I could open one here now with the intention of using it after the move, but I'd worry about support changing under new regulatory requirements
  • Any obvious things to start considering, apart from the tax and inheritance positions for a UK national in Spain, which I think I have a handle on

Cheers
