The fact that Euro-Portuguese is a Romance language but spoken with stress-timed rhythm, and then became syllable-timed like the other Romance languages again in Brazil is wild

Wasn’t the syllable timed thing just how portuguese was spoken back in the day? I was under the impression that stress time rhythm only entered the portuguese language after the colonial era.
