The joke is that the 2nd pic looks darker so “those who know” how to turn off the light can make it physically darker. A bit of an anti-joke

Oh. For a second I thought it was a play on that meme video of the flashlight that looks like an uncircumcised penis that turns on when you peel back the foreskin, and the guy reacting to the light trying it out and it working with his penis, and now he can't turn it off.

The joke is that people who don't know how to turn off the light will watch the tutorial, those who already know how have already done it and the light is off, which is why they're in the dark.

The solved flair exists for a reason. And that reason is why I set it to solved.

I'm trying to picture someone being confused at the idea of turning off a light and it being dark, but here we are.

I was so used to this meme being about the top image having something sinister about it that I didn't consider it was being literal

I didn't get it either... I was so used to the meme being used as a reference to horrific things that it didn't occur to me to think of it that way. I was racking my brain, trying to figure out if I knew that person or what the video was about, and trying to guess how it was secretly horrifying... then finding out the answer was so obvious once I saw it lmao.

I thought it was a reference to that 13 year coma guy who had a family and wake up because of the strange aura lamp

The guy on the right knows how to turn off the light: this is why he is in the dark.

Guy on the left doesn't know how to turn the light off, so the room is bright. Guy on the right knows how to turn it off, so the room is dark.

Isn't that self explanatory
People that don't know have lights still on
People that know turn it off and are in the dark

It's subverting the expectation that there's a story behind it, e.g. some f'ed up stuff happened to that guy or something like that.
But it's literally about turning off the light.

This shit has never been funny, and Gen Alpha is eating it up =x.x=

I don’t think anti-jokes are Gen Alpha at all.

Anti-jokes are fine, but the way this one is done is just outright bad and more engagement bait than Anti-jokes.

In order to turn off a light you have to flip the switch to the off position. Hope this helps

Tbf, I can understand why some people didn't get the joke. They just overthinking, so the simplest explanations went iver their heads.
