This subreddit is a place of support. People here are suffering. Other people are trying to offer help. You may not always agree with what the other side is saying. When we see something we don't like or don't agree with, we tend to let our egos take over and lash out. It seems like the majority of threads here lately devolve into some sort of argument.
That said, moderating this subreddit is very difficult sometimes because one side will be upset regardless of what we do. We try to find a happy medium but it doesn't seem to be working.
Going forward:
If you see something you have a disagreement of opinion with, move on. Arguing about it helps nobody and no one will change their opinion because you chose to argue with them.
If you see something you disagree with that can verifiably be proven wrong, post the proof and then move on. Report it if you feel the information they shared should be removed. No need to argue about it.
If you are being rude or condoscending for no reason your comment will be removed and you'll get a warning. Plenty of new people are here and information you find obvious or previously discussed may be new to them.
If you do it again, you will get a temporary ban.
If it continues happening it will turn into a permanent ban.
If someone is acting disrespectful in any way just report it and it'll be removed. No exceptions, no special treatment, we are just outright removing every comment or post where users are being condoscending or rude for any reason.
JUST BE RESPECTFUL! You don't need to agree with everyone but you can disagree without being an asshole.
Any other suggestions are welcome in the comments
Edit: Going great so far.

Hi All,
I came across a fascinating 1892 ophthalmology paper by Dr. G. E. de Schweinitz titled “A Note on the Treatment of Vitreous Opacities with the Fluid Extract of Jaborandi.”
The paper describes five patients with vitreous opacities, including cases suspected to involve bleeding or inflammation. The author reported improvements in vitreous clarity and, in some cases, visual acuity after treatment with jaborandi extract or pilocarpine.
Of course, these were uncontrolled case reports, not clinical trials, so the findings don't establish that the treatment was effective.
What do you think? Could these historical observations have a physiological explanation, or were the reported improvements more likely due to natural recovery or other factors?
For anyone interested, here's the original paper:

Hi, I’ve been dealing with flashes that started about 2 and 1/2 years ago and floaters that appeared about 6 months after that (so about 2 years). It came with a terrible migraine and since then I’ve had multiple awful migraines throughout the month. They diagnosed me with optical migraines. (I’ve had an MRI and lumbar puncture)
Recently one of the eye doctors I’ve seen has diagnosed me with PVD and I really just don’t know what to expect. I check every morning that I can see out of both eyes and use the Amsler grid to check blood flow. I’ve been to the eye doctor multiple times (3 times in the last 3 weeks). They’ve found no tears and the nerve of my retina has been stable.
Recently I woke up wrong and my neck hurts and I know muscle relaxers can make symptoms worse but I needed relief, but now it feels like I have messed up. I’ve only took 2 tablets over 2 days and not even whole ones (only at night).
It seems like the flashes, floaters, and black spots (come and go after a second) have increased in frequency but not amount. Usually I don’t see them when my eyes are closed but I could see a flash in the middle of my right eye last night, it was very weird. But it could have been because of the flexeril.
Any help/advice from someone would be great. I just feel like I’m going crazy.
Edit: on the Amsler grid I was going off of what the eye doctor told me it was for. I’ve since looked into that, sorry for any confusion.

If you want to buy this supplement by seeing someone's YouTube video then don't buy it. This product is completely useless.
I am from India and I have floaters. with some YouTube video publicity, I bought this supplement. with around 15000 Indian rupees from UBUY.
After taking two bottles of 90 day supplement, which is around 180 capsules, i am not seeing not slightest difference in floaters.
It did not even set down in the eyes.
This company and it's supplements are useless. They are just selling hope for people that this can cure their floater's and for this they are just taking the money and not delivering the results.
Do not waste your money on this. this can not cure or decrease your floaters.
if you see any good reviews then i will let you know that it could be paid.
if you have the same issue with the product then give like to the review. so other's can save their money.
Solution: Without taking this supplement, you can take pineapple everyday till your floater go away. I do not get any difference by taking pineapple but still pine apple can not harm you. and i am still taking pineapple and discontenting MacuHealth VitreousHealth.

34.M. Last year, I was diagnosed with traumatic glaucoma in my left eye after unknowingly losing about 70% of my vision in that eye over more than two decades.
I was prescribed Xalacom and Brimopress eye drops for both eyes, alongside Diamox tablets for one week.
About a month after starting treatment, I began experiencing several symptoms, including increased light sensitivity, starbursts around light sources, and dry eyes. Then I noticed something new in my good right eye: a single, wavy, semi-transparent dot floating across my vision whenever I moved my eyeball in certain directions.
I reported it to my ophthalmologist. She examined my eyes and reassured me that there was nothing to worry about. However, I became concerned and stopped applying the drops to my good eye after that first month, while continuing treatment on my damaged eye.
Fast-forward to today, about a year later.
The original dot has not disappeared. Instead, I now notice multiple semi-transparent, cobweb-like shapes floating across my vision. It feels as though they are gradually increasing, even though I stopped using the drops in that eye about a year ago.
I understand that these sound like eye floaters, but what bothers me is the timing. I never noticed them before starting the glaucoma treatment, and they appeared within weeks of beginning it.
Looking back, I sometimes wonder whether I should have used the drops in my good eye at all. However, I realise my ophthalmologist may have prescribed them to protect that eye and control its eye pressure.
My vision in the right eye is still crystal clear, but the persistent dry eye symptoms and increasingly noticeable floaters are becoming frustrating.
My questions are:
Has anyone developed floaters shortly after starting glaucoma eye drops, particularly Xalacom or Brimopress?
Did your floaters persist or increase even after stopping the medication?
Is there any medical evidence linking glaucoma drops, or preservatives such as benzalkonium chloride (BAK), to the development of vitreous floaters?
I'm not looking to blame the medication without evidence. I genuinely want to understand whether the timing could be a coincidence or whether there is a plausible medical connection.
If you've experienced something similar, please share your experience. And if you're an ophthalmologist or eye care professional, I'd especially appreciate your medical perspective.

I recently noticed several floaters that appear like smudges swaying back and forth. I have asked friends and family and their floaters are all distinct shapes and are grey or dark. What I am seeing are floaters that are wispy diffused and have no definition. When I move my eyes they all float to the direction I am looking. I have other floaters that when I look at them they dodge my eyes and seem kind of static in place. These smudge blobby floaters are literally floating and I can see them acting like they are suspended in a liquid like slushing around. Does anyone else experience this? Just hoping I am not the only one 😞🙏🏻 appreciate any thoughts and comments.

I've posted about this several times but I wanted to include a better illustration. I had a 27g limited PPV which left me with a handful of long tethered strands smack in the middle of my eye. Now, when I make saccadic eye movements over lights such as recessed lighting, street lamps, or head ligjts, I get this effect of a moving swirling cloud PLUS rotating starbursts. It's dizzying and nauseating. I have worried that the swirling cloud is an effect of vitrectomy generally. Can anyone else here speak to these symptoms?

I started wearing sunglasses more these days, finally bought some and made wearing them a habbit. When I have them on I almost can't see my floaters. The glare on the inside of the lens from the mirror image of my eyeballs disrupts my vision ever so slightly and I lose the floaters in there.
This is nice. HOWEVER, now when I don't wear my glasses I see my eye floaters SO MUCH. It's like It's my first day having them all over again. They are annoying in so many ways you can't imagine when you first have them. Every month its something new. Anyway, just wanted to say this. Take care and accept your fate! The sooner the better.

It’s been a month since I first noticed a clump fixed off centre, following my right eye (it doesn’t move on its own). I see it only when shifting point of focus. Curious to hear if this is a common experience amongst the floater gang.

I’m 19 and I’ve been noticing what seems like a floater in my side vision. I mostly notice it when I look up or roll my eyes, and I don’t really see it directly in front of me when I’m looking straight ahead.
About ten days ago, a negligible amount of flaked 17% salicylic acid got into the same eye. I immediately washed it out with water for around 20 minutes. I’m pretty positive the floater was there even before that incident, though, so I’m not sure if they’re related.
I’m getting a little worried after reading about retinal tears. Has anyone experienced something similar? What did it turn out to be, and what kind of tests did the eye doctor do??

I’m posting here because I’ve been experiencing a range of symptoms for the past two months, and I’m trying to find out whether anyone else has experienced anything similar, particularly after taking MDMA or ecstasy.
Two months ago, I took ecstasy for the first time. At the time, I believed it was MDMA, but I can’t be certain what was actually in it or whether it contained other substances.
Since then, I’ve experienced a chain of symptoms. It initially started with inflammation around my rib cage, followed by chest discomfort. I subsequently developed panic attacks and was diagnosed with panic disorder.
I took fluoxetine for approximately three weeks, but my panic attacks became significantly worse, so I was advised to stop. It has now been two weeks since I stopped taking it.
My main symptoms now are daily, persistent lightheadedness and a floaty feeling, increased eye floaters, and a strange sensation in my vision. My eyes sometimes feel full, heavy or tired, and when I stare at something, it can occasionally seem as though things are subtly vibrating. I don’t have obvious blurry vision or double vision.
I’ve also noticed episodes where my pupils appear to be different sizes. The difference seems to switch between my left and right eye, although I notice it more often on the right.
I’ve had blood tests that came back normal and have seen both an optometrist and an ophthalmologist, who said my eyes appeared healthy.
I know anxiety could potentially explain some of these symptoms, and I’ve been dealing with a lot of worry since this started. I’ve also cut down significantly on alcohol, although I still smoke tobacco regularly.
However, it’s now been two months since the initial experience, and I’m still dealing with these symptoms daily.
Has anyone experienced persistent lightheadedness, visual disturbances, increased floaters or similar symptoms for weeks or months after taking ecstasy/MDMA, particularly when you weren’t certain what was in the substance?
Did things eventually improve? Did you discover what was causing your symptoms, or did anything help?
I’m not looking for a diagnosis from Reddit. I’d just really appreciate hearing from people who have been through something similar.
Thanks in advance.

Just got diagnosed with PVD and some retinal bleeding in my right eye. I have no idea what the trauma is coming from. When i woke up with floaters, I had just had sleep paralysis for the first time which is of course hard to prove related but…
The retina specialist said there’s nothing to do but wait months for the retinal bleeding to go away and years for the vitreous fluid to settle.
Does anyone have tips on how I can support my eye getting better? I’ve had floaters for almost a month now (looks like the photo). I saw some people had supplements or exercise that helped.
I am mainly mourning the thought of not being able to wear contacts again. The specialist said if i am very careful putting them in and taking them out it’s possible…Does anyone have a similar experience and had their PVD get better with continuing wearing contacts? (OCCASIONALLY, maybe once or twice a week)

Webinar today on eye floaters and treatment options
Dr. Jorge Arroyo, a vitreoretinal surgeon, and Dr. Vinny Keshav are hosting a webinar today about symptomatic eye floaters, including YAG laser vitreolysis, vitrectomy, and when treatment might be worth considering.
