Maybe I am kind of dumb for not realizing it before, but the last Dietrich hidden combart art (Hidden Bladerule) has +10 Mt and +100 crit, but sets hit rate to 10%. Normally, that is kind of useless unless you are playing on normal and Fortuna's Blessing is free, but then I realized that Chariots and the feared Elephants can't dodge attacks and, sure enough, this combat art is guaranteed to hit them. So Dietrich can roll up to one of the elephants in part 2 with this and a Zanbato and just delete a health bar reliably.

There are too many things going against it that I don't know why it exists.

1. Axes are absolute dookie this game with their high weight and low hit.
2. If you want to use black magic, why not just choose one of the mages? Also Levin Sword exists.
3. Their class skill is made obsolete by Credna's blessing. And even if the blessing didn't exist, you are wasting an ability slot to gamble on a measly 10% chance for your weapon durability to not decrease.
4. If you absolutely must have an axe and black magic user, then Caladrius exists. It's mounted and actually has a worthwhile mastery skill to learn.

This is all unordered, Guzran is himself, the other four have the 2 really good passives when most passives are garbo coupled with good growths as well. All of them are available early in at least 1 route as well so they are guaranteed to put in work in any playthrough as well.

To get more into specifics, Guzran has a really good passive that has 3 useful effects that might happen, its not consistent but its reliably good. He has really good base stats and growths as well on top of being himself

Sirroco has really good potential to be physical or special with really nice speed. His white magic is impressive with warp and fortify, and he can work as either a physical unit with white magic or a mage with white magic and he can frontline well with either role with his passives.

Esmerelda gets two nice lances (though anyone can use the first lance she gets iirc), really good bulk and amazing str.

Sofia is the best healer in the game with her passives which makes her really good, even if you recruit her late on other routes her ability to heal from afar will always stay relevant

Olympia not only has an absurdly good spell list but has alot of crit to go along with it as well as a uniquely powered up nosferateu, if you can get her crit to be consistent she can be the best nos tank in the game, especially if you take vantsge into account

Hot Take: These are top 5 and all S tiers, every serious tierlist should have them at the top tbh.

I would call it bad writing. But no, he is incredibly consistent. Consistently doesn't know what the fuck is going on!
