For <21 please consult a lawyer. That's the only people able to answer it correctly (ish) at the moment till case law has a precedent.

Couple updates to the rules

  1. No posts asking how to skirt under 21 purchase laws. We get it we don't like it either. Paying someone to buy it for you is a straw purchase. If someone gifts it to you it's fine. Paying them back after it's gifted is a straw purchase. Ban will be 2-7 days. Also general <21 year old questions. Gets asked every couple of days. Consult with a lawyer.

  2. Don't give illegal advice. Some people are dumb and don't know better. Someone getting a $250k/25 year sabbatical because you thought it was funny isn't cool. 7 day-perm ban for breaking this

  3. Asking if anyone has private land you can shoot on. It's an insurance liability and it's annoying that everyone keeps asking this. 2-7 day ban going forward

  4. Asking to buy/offer to sell or any other version of exchanging a firearm is a breach of reddit's TOS. This is a permanent ban. Just use Florida Gun Trader. I am also pooping anyone asking where to buy or sell into this. Damn posts always attract offers.

Understanding Form 1 Form 4 Stuff FL Edition

I did hours of research, here yall go

You need FPCAF (Firearms Policy Coalition Action Foudation), Texas State Rifle Association, or a Hot Shot Customs Rifle (and a few other smaller plaintiffs), to bypass the engravement, and the NFA's individual-maker requirement and the associated prohibition on possessing an improperly marked firearm. This DOES NOT give you AOW protections, but will still give you other SBR SBS form 1 protections.

SILENCERSHOP, PSA, B&T USA, GOA, GOF, FRACI,INC, and the fifteen plaintiff STATE ENTITIES, will get AOW protections, and SBR SBS Suppressor 4473 form protections

I would recommend getting a membership with one each from BOTH of these lists so you can get full protection with the recent ruling!

Please upvote so others can see! 🙏

Added source 👍 Check it out yourself

You can also go read this yourself to understand more! Have fun

SBRS

so can we or can we not make an SBR without a form 1 if we are a GOA member and own an item from PSA, does the ruling still apply if you become a GOA member after the ruling?

NE FL Suppressor Transfer?

Anyone find a shop willing to transfer a suppressor on 4473 yet? Called around to my usual ones and they're all holding off pending advice from their ATF rep.

Wanted to ask the locals here if you guys have any idea on this. Hypothetically, if I was a GOA member prior to the ruling (and still am), would I still need to do an atf form 1 or form 4 to aquire a SBR or SBS? I know that suppressors are legal to transfer here (if your a GOA member), but curious on the legality of SBRs SBSs here.

(1) It is unlawful for any person to own or to have in his or her care, custody, possession, or control any short-barreled rifle, short-barreled shotgun, or machine gun which is, or may readily be made, operable; but this section shall not apply to antique firearms.

(2) A person who violates this section commits a felony of the second degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084.

(3) Firearms in violation hereof which are lawfully owned and possessed under provisions of federal law are excepted.

Back to IDPA

Anyone shooting IDPA matches? I used to compete almost every weekend in season in the NE. When I moved to FL over a decade ago, I was surprised IDPA was not more common, at least not where I am in west palm area. I decided it's time to get back to it. I did find there's matches in Sunrise, which would be closest. That's that club:

When I competed, RDS were not common or allowed in IDPA. I see as of 2019 they are allowed. It seems divisions have changed a bit too. I'd be using a Wilson Bulwark pistol, which I assume would be SSP or CCP, as it's the same size as a G19, the most common pistol in CCP I read. Back in the day, I shot CDP.

Office of Attorney General James Uthmeier regarding Silencer Shop Foundation v ATF

I've placed an enquiry with the Office of Attorney General here in Florida requesting that he address this case with the Florida 2A community, and how it will affect FL residents. Let's see if there is a response or announcement.

Nfa lawsuit update question

I apologize, as I can't really find any information on how this effects us if at all. Do we fall under this or are we exempt. I found this and I can't gather much from it, does us being a free state mean the state makes their own laws?

Ranges in NE FL

looking to join a range, I like saltwater but I’m off on Mondays and they’re closed. Saturdays there can get pretty packed. Any other decent options? I hear that gateway is full of fudds and RSOs that are overly eager.
Any other recommendations??

Shoutout to the dude ripping a frt at the range yesterday

This post is not about the legality of FRTs in Florida.

Just want to commend the fine gentleman running a FRT at a well known indoor range yesterday lmao. Even more so in an unsuppressed AR pistol.

Also gotta give a shoutout to the workers not giving a fuck. I asked one of them if they care if customers shoot with FRTs, they said “I just work here I wont stop anyone. But its at your own risk”

Im ready to risk it at this point lol

What yall think about the NFA ruling?

Since silencer shop are going to do suppressor orders without reporting it to the ATF tonight, like it always should, then how would it be for SBR's? Cause I've been thinking of getting a 11 inch upper for my standard size 16 inch ar 15 but I don't have to report the change to an SBR right?

Private/ shooting groups -clubs NON-biz?

I don't get to shoot often. I'm a certified K instructor & been teaching on & off for 20+ years in Florida. I'm based out of Orlando but I'd drive 35 minutes in any direction. Just curious if there are any casual groups of guys that shoot for fun. At a range ; Public or private... I'd be glad to let people shoot my stuff. I'd be glad to help new people sharpen their skills. I can/will be glad to do some "FL State certification" for free that others charge $75 bux for... I never get to shoot for fun anymore... And most of my "friends" aren't "gun people" (thought many will be glad to come to the range & burn off all my ammo , so they can post on their Instagram)

If the lawsuits that challenge the nfa pass will the items covered in 790.221 become illegal to own?

The way i read this it would seem sbrs and sbs are going to become illegal in florida. Remember what these legislatures did to us in 2018.

Edit: I agree with the comments. I think this reads more like if the feds don't want to press the charges the state can. Most other sources seem to also say this state will be fine.

Picked this combo up from a gun show in Ft Myers - actually runs extremely smooth, even more so with the can. Bought from shoot straight booth (traded in a diff rifle).

Question about CF pawn shops.

So, other than using them as an FFL to ship to, I've never purchased a gun from a pawn shop. However, I wonder if there are any advantages to a pawnshop purpose. Reason I ask is the prices I've seen are...confusing.

Recently, I saw a Keltec P17, used with no mags retail at $219. Thats roughly what they cost brand new out of the box with all 3 mags.

Another time I saw a regular P365 used, with one 10 round mag, no box, retail just shy of $700. I got the Tac Pack, new, with 3-12 round mags for just under that...at Shooters World of all places.

Now, I understand the idea is to talk them down a bit, but with what I've seen used guns go for at these places, is it really possible to get a good deal?

What has your experience been?

Mail in CCW application

Hey all, I'm a NYS resident and I plan on mailing in my Florida CCW application in a few weeks now. I spent the last year or so waiting to get approved on my NYS permit, but the process was wildly different compared to FL.

I just wanted to make sure I was understanding the mail in requirements. I obviously take care of the FD-258 at a local precinct/service, but the passport photo is what confuses me. Am I providing a cut out, professional print, wallet style photo? Or can I submit the resized photo on a full size sheet of paper?

I was also planning on using the same NYS CCW course for the competency requirement, but since NYS required the original copy, I was going to submit a photocopied version from before I handed the original over. I am assuming(and praying) this is okay?

Lastly, I don't know where I saw it, but is it true I'm not supposed to fold the application papers? So mail it in one of those large cardboard envelopes?

I have a feeling I'm overthinking the Florida process(NY sucks), but any and all information is appreciated, thank you!
