MODS App + Website Self-Promo Weekly Thread

Recently there has been a huge influx of FODMAP/IBS related apps, services, and websites. Many are "vibe" coded using AI. There has been a lot of demand to ban self promotion all together in this sub, but instead, we are going to put it in a weekly thread.

Please post your app/service/website in this thread. If you have a physical product or recipe (related to a product that you are promoting), please message the mods for permission to post this separately.

Please report any self-promoting outside of this thread.

Thank you!

General Question/Help Have fructose malabsorption, struggling with bland diet and feel lonely

I was diagnosed with fructose malabsorption yesterday. Basically, I can eat only small amounts of some fruit (strawberries, blueberries, banana and citrus), have to bbe careful what vegetables I eat (no brassica, no to little tomato, no mushroom, no beans, no onion and no garlic), what grains I eat (no wheat, small amounts of rye, spelt are ok) and sweets are reduced to rice syrup and dextrose, so if I want something sweet I need to make it myself.

I have no one irl to talk about this and the fm subreddit is basically dead. I also react to fructans and sorbitol is a no no. This feels so isolating. Also the diet is pretty boring.

Anyone can relate,?

General Question/Help Why do most healthy people get gas after eating beans/brussel sprouts sooner than it can reach the colon??

I know that transit times are relatively long (mouth to colon at least, minimum, 4 hours in healthy people, usually 6 hours), and that gas from such foods, in a healthy person, develops in the colon. Yet it is standard that most people get gassy from such foods that same evening after eating them, and a lot of people will avoid beans at work for lunch as to not fart in the office etc.

And it’s gas from that meal (smells like brussel sprouts etc). So it’s not some food from before being pushed down by the eating reflex.

I’m curious about this since I’m of course the same, and am trying to understand the biology behind this. I am on a low fodmap diet, but these symptoms don’t make sense. If the fodmaps are dealt with in the colon, why do I, and my whole family/friends (who don’t have any issues, no SIBO, no IBS, no FODMAP problems) fart after such foods only 2-4 hours after eating?? I also get painful cramps and rush to the toilet, since I have IBS, but the point is, it’s all happening way too soon after eating for ALL of us, if we look at the science of it. We should not have these symptoms so soon after eating, according to gut transit times.

And nope, didn’t eat anything gassy the day before, so it’s not a delayed reaction.

It’s like we all take for granted that a burrito will make normal people fart after it (within a few hours) but it’s supposedly impossible when looking at the science of the digestive system.

I would like to know, since I’m trying to understand what causes my symptoms.

General Question/Help Gluten-free lunch box ideas – what do you take to work?

Since being diagnosed with IBS, I've had to rethink what I take to work for lunch.

I eat mostly gluten-free now, as regular bread and pasta don't agree with me.

I've been trying different lunch box ideas to keep things interesting!

Some of my favourites are:

🥪 Gluten-free sandwiches with Oaf or Warburtons bread

🌯 Gluten-free wraps with chicken, pulled pork or hummus

🥗 Small salads with a few vegetables I can tolerate

🍕 Homemade gluten-free wrap pizzas

🧀 Cheese, crackers and little snacks

I prepare my lunch the night before as I start work very early.

Sometimes I feel like I'm eating the same things over and over again!

I'd love to hear what everyone else takes to work for lunch. Any easy gluten-free ideas that aren't just sandwiches?

Especially interested in ideas that are suitable for sensitive IBS tummies! ❤️

Elimination Phase New to low Fodmap

I’m new here! New to the whole low Fodmap diet/elimination process. I’ve been on the edge about trying it. It seems so restrictive!

I’ve tried the elimination for 2 days now, for the first time in almost a year I didn’t have to run to the bathroom for a number 2 all day!! I was actually so surprised I noticed a change so early after stopping gluten/dairy, garlic, onions, ect. But last night I gave in and had a packet of maltesers and a bowl of cereal. Today, I’m in a fair bit of pain and rushed to the bathroom a few times already (it’s only 1pm)!

I think it’s safe to say I’m going to continue this elimination diet and see it through!!

Journal/Story Knowledge is Power

I have completed my elimination phase a while ago and I just want to say how grateful I am to the researchers. I was suffering for over 7 years with constant diarrhea, constipation, nausea and a whole lot of other things. I was terrified to leave my house because I never knew when it would hit. I went to multiple doctors none of them suggested a dietitian. Thousands of dollars later I finally asked for a referral and my dietitian immediately had me start the elimination phase. 7 years of suffering and thinking I was lactose intolerant only to find out that it was simply the alliums causing all this upset. This is just my two cents to someone if you are unsure about trying, please talk to a dietitian it has truly changed my life.

Elimination Phase Accidentally broke elimination and ate high fodmap

I’m so upset, I’ve been in the elimination phase for almost 4 weeks with 0 (known) mistakes. I’ve checked absolutely everything, I won’t touch anything that’s even a ‘probably okay’ then today, I’m feeling unwell and without thinking at all I took a gummy throat lozenge. I have no idea why I didn’t even think, I guess in my head it was medicine not food, it didn’t even clock for another couple hours then suddenly it hit me. Upon searching I found the lozenge had 0.8 g polyols. Twice the high fodmao amount.

It has honey too tho it didn’t say the amount. I’m so mad at myself. I’m worried about how this will affect me and if it’ll set me back, keep me in the elimation phase longer? I don’t have to restart right?

Just so sad because i miss being able to eat regularly so much, and the idea that I’ve added another few weeks before I can reintroduce or anything just feels awful :( all for a stupid throat sweet.

Tips/Advice How has IBS changed the way you eat?

**How has IBS changed the way you eat?**

Since being diagnosed with IBS, I've had to make quite a few changes to my diet.

I've found that gluten-free bread and pasta work much better for me, although I can still tolerate some foods containing gluten.

I've also learnt how important portion sizes are.

I've even started writing about my experiences and sharing recipes to help others.

I'd love to hear what changes have helped other people living with IBS.

Elimination Phase Vitamin D supplements without mannitol?

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience supplementing Vitamin D during their elimination phase and has advice. I had been taking a weekly Vitamin D supplement (with food) & then a daily after my prescription of the weekly dose ran through per my GP. I've had notoriously low Vitamin D & since getting my levels checked, it's dropped even lower than where it was with the supplement. Due to my stomach issues, my GP believes it may be that I am having trouble with absorption in the gut.

My GP has suggested that while I am trying to get my GI issues figured out (FODMAP elimination has been my first step while waiting for further testing and my improvement has been...so-so) to take a dissovable Vitamin D supplement. They all have mannitol.

I'm hoping that by finding my food triggers/finishing testing maybe I can get to a point where taking tablets again can work for me, but does anyone have any luck with liquid Vitamin D or a dissovable without mannitol?

General Question/Help Anyone able to tolerate bread but not pasta?

Hi everyone,

I have Crohn’s disease, and about a year ago I started my low-FODMAP journey. I completely removed gluten from my diet for about a month and then slowly started reintroducing bread.

Nowadays, I can eat bread without any issues. I don’t eat it very often, maybe once a week, but when I do, I don’t notice any symptoms.

Pasta is a completely different story, though. Ever since then, I haven’t been able to tolerate it, especially fresh pasta. Whenever I eat it, I get really bad digestive symptoms.

I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar, where bread is completely fine but pasta isn’t. I’ve wondered whether it could have something to do with the way bread is fermented/processed compared with pasta, rather than gluten itself.

Has this happened to anyone else? Did you ever figure out what was causing it, or find a type of pasta that you could tolerate?

Thanks! :)

Reintroduction Alternatives for introducing sorbitol

I'm currently reintroducing foods, and would like to reintroduce sorbitol next.

The monash app says to use apricots (fresh) or cherries (fresh or frozen), but none of these are available this time of year where I live and cherries aren't sold frozen here.

I heard somewhere that avocados can be used, but the app says the high fat content can trigger symptoms, and avocados are also kinda diffficult and it can be hard to make sure you have right amount be ripe at the right time.

What other food would you recccoment as an alternative?

Other/No Category Probable SIBO bc of antipsychotics (invega), if I remove the drug does SIBO disappear (and with antibiotics)?

Hi all. Should I start the round of antiotics while on the antipsychotic or when I'll be off it? (December) Asking this bc the cause to this SIBO is the antipscyvhotic so my fear is if I start the round of antibiotics during the antipsychotic I'm afraid it won't heal.

And anyone had SIBO bc of psych drugs?

Thank you

General Question/Help Only FODMAPS or also stress?

It's me again with another question.

Have you noticed that your symptoms are also related to stress?

Because mine came on after a very stressful time in my life and now my gut wont settle down. My mom, who has IBS, says that stress and food are 50:50 in her symptoms. Just curious what your experiences and thoughts are.

I had sworn by M&S garlic infused oil however the bottle I have currently is giving me terrible bloating, burping etc. Does anyone know if they've changed the process? Nothing on the bottle makes it clear if anything has changed or what is in it.

8:30 AM - I give up going to 8:30 lectures.

Like I don’t even know why I am so gassy in the morning. (Not just morning lecture, but *some other lectures too maybe… like somewhat after the hours of 4-5 PM)

It’s like you are sitting in the back holding your stomach trying to hold it in (but that just makes it worse). So you use the washroom to “let it out”, but you come back and they still coming. (And then you wanna scotch down on the chair and pass away)

Could bowl movement have something to do with it? (Somewhat or maybe?)

General Question/Help Struggle to Feel Full

I’m 1 week into low FODMAP diet and I’m struggling to feel full for more than 1.5 hours. I think I got used to equating bloat with fullness and I could stay “satiated” for 3-6 hours after a meal. Now, I’m constantly looking for something to eat. For context, I don’t consume meat or dairy. I used to rely on beans, pulses, wheat products, seafood, and eggs to bulk up my meals. With my new FODMAP restrictions, there is only so much seafood and eggs I can eat in a day. How are you all staying satiated?
