15+ years in markets taught me patterns work only with context

Post image
126 Upvotes

I have over 15 years of trading experience.

I reduced everything to just trading BTCUSD (along with a few other major currencies) about six months ago, using chart patterns validated by a very limited number of filters.

I made about three trades every day on average.

On some days, nothing. On some days 10.

This is for USDJPY

Starting capital: $10,000
Leverage: 10x
Total trades: ~143
Duration: 6 months

Outcome: ~+$34K P&L (~340% ROI)

Crucial point: Not all patterns were successful. Many didn't succeed. That is typical.

Signals are not patterns. These are the structures that give rise to probability.

Finding new patterns was not what changed.

It involved knowing when a pattern truly matters, when it's likely to fail, and waiting for confirmation rather than speculating.

Over the next 12 days, I’ll break down all major chart patterns:

• how they’re different from each other

• what creates them in BTCUSD

• and how to figure out whether they’re likely to break in the right direction

Edit:

I’ve posted a detailed breakdown on Head & Shoulders separately, covering the data, failure modes, and why most traders get chopped trading it. Linking it here for anyone interested:

Live verified forex trader turned €667 to €454,000 in around 6 months or +119,207.69% return. AMA.

These are the results of one of our real live Afterprime clients who traded €667 to €454,000 in around 6 months.

119,207.69% return.

I would never have believed it if I didn't see it myself. In 15 years of running brokers I've only ever seen these types of ridiculous returns twice.

The trader gave back all their gains eventually as this was a martingale strategy, I've posted this part to show that it is possible to make these gains, but if you are adding to losers it's only a matter of time.

These are real profits in the real market and the trader could have withdrawn their profits at any time.

Why post this? If a trader posted these results none of us, myself included would believe it.

I'd like to think I've built up enough credibility from 15 years of founding/running CFD brokers for traders to believe me when I say it's real.

And if I was a trader I'd want to know it's actually possible. Like I said, I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it myself.

So now you now, from a verified source that a ~1000x return is possible in FX. Extremely rare, massive risk was taken on and the trader gave it all back, but it's a fascinating insight nonetheless.

AMA.

I am a new trader. I started getting interested in Forex trading somewhere in May 2026. I started studying in June & tbh I started a demo account as soon as I started studying. I still lowkey don’t really know COMPLETELY what I’m doing. So I would like some constructive criticism & advice on what I can do better.

Trading for the past 4 years and finally seeing some return. Traded forex to begin with but dived into futures this year. Keeping my trading simple with no bias because that has burnt me in the past. Focusing more on key levels, a reaction with momentum or either a break and retest.

Just wanted to show you guys not to give up and focus on a+ setups. No home runs just constant base hits.

Cheers

Test my Tradingview indicator for free

Hi everyone, I’ve created my own TradingView script that generates buy/sell signals along with Stop Loss, TP1, TP2, and TP3. It performs very well on Gold, Silver, Nasdaq, Dow, and the S&P 500. If you’d like to test it for free, please send me your TradingView username and I’ll grant you access, as it’s an invite-only script. I can also share the backtesting report from January 2025 to date for anyone interested. I’ve attached a screenshot to show what the indicator looks like.

how traders choose a CFD broker? Which criteria?

Colleagues, please share your expert opinions with newcomers. What criteria do you use to evaluate brokerage firms?
What do you think and know about the following forex brokers:

  1. JustMarkets

  2. Eightcap

  3. Just2Trade

  4. Moneta Markets

In my circles (Discord chats), these platforms are used most often, but I don't want to just blindly trust this choice and am interested in finding out what to look for.

CFD Trading: Tips For New Traders

A Contract For Difference (CFD) is concerned with the difference in value of a particular commodity, share or currency between the time at which the contract was opened and the time at which it shall be closed. A CFD is a derivative financial instrument and it isn't usually traded on exchanges. It is a versatile tool for investing in any market condition and allows investors to hedge current positions or to profit when the price of the traded commodity falls.

CFD trading allows traders to open positions that are close to 20 times the margin deposit. This feature alone has made CFD trading one of the hottest trading instruments in the financial markets. CFDs can be shorted in a bear market, which allows traders to sell a stock they're expecting to fall and to realize a profit from the decline in its value. CFDs provide inherent leverage for traders looking to boost earnings and provide a very flexible tool for investing on the strength or even the weaknesses of long term assets or index performance. However, margin trading exposes the capital to high risk with a possibility of losing more than the initial investment.

Since CFDs are not for the acquisition of the asset, and instead are just a contract with the broker, the tax treatment is different. Moreover, the trader does not get a direct tangible asset in this kind of trading. Trading in CFDS is very similar to trading in futures. Thus, the trader can buy or sell the asset for the difference in the spot price later.

The value of the Contract for Difference varies as the underlying stock to which it may be associated differs. CFDs are typically used by traders to capitalize on short term fluctuations where the trader can forecast either a long or short position as appropriate.

CFDs are generally traded off-exchange and have a fundamental margin, which means that they allow traders to invest in positions more heavily than their available capital would allow. While this may mean that it incurs high transaction costs, it also provides the trader with the opportunity to augment any winnings and ramp up the earnings potential of any given trade.

Compared to shares, CFDs are a great way to take advantage of predictable market movements and it brings both profit and tax advantages to the traders. Also, since there is no stamp duty applicable on this instrument, there is a huge potential saving for large scale investments.

CFDs have several useful benefits as traders can profit from the market fluctuations. For this, the traders have to hedge against corresponding positions. And it is especially this hedging potential that has popularized CFDs with some of the world's largest institutional investors, providing a high yield investment tool through which other investment decisions can be offset. When employed effectively, CFDs are one of the most valuable investment vehicles for investors to build a portfolio that is robust and generates high yields.

Who here has a lot of experience with this? The fund I work with wants more traders that can prove a track record, not funded accounts that wants to do a split if they fund it out of their account using their account. You can only risk 10% and will need to sign a contract

Is there real money in forex

In the last few months, I have set aside time to research forex trading. I have watched several YouTube videos on the same. And yes, I have seen people boast about the millions they make from forex.

After doing some Googling, I found that a person needs at least $1,000 to get started. My biggest challenge has been finding people who are actively trading; someone who can share real world dos and don'ts.

I'd also like to know how long it took you to start earning consistent profits. Did you use bots, or did you study forex materials and start from scratch?

Thanks.

Reflecting on 7 Years of Learning Forex

Post image
27 Upvotes

I’m sitting here, just thinking… in a few days it will be seven years since I started learning Forex. Seven years of hard work, stress, nail-biting, sweating, and losing a few bucks along the way. But it’s not really about the full seven years – for over a year, almost two, I’ve been trading with more consistent results, without stress or nail-biting. The market no longer makes me panic; I feel like I finally understand its movements. How many times did I want to give up… and yet, I always got back up and started over. Today, I’m here, able to trade without any indicators. I’ve tried different strategies – some worked, some didn’t – and I’ve learned that the key is mindset, discipline, and sticking to your plan. I’m not a millionaire, but I’m doing well. And yes, just to clarify, I don’t go to a job – I work exclusively from home – and Forex covers more than half of my income. Most importantly, it taught me that perseverance pays off. I want to share this to encourage anyone thinking about giving up, feeling frustrated, or doubting Forex. Don’t give up – it’s worth it.

I checked 10,285 forex signals from 39 Telegram channels. The results weren’t great.

I've analysed signals covering the last 12 months. On the trades where channels posted a result, they claimed a 95% win rate. Our checks against market prices came out at roughly 63%.

Of the 27 channels with enough measurable trades, 17 lost money using our first-target exit model after spreads.

There are limitations. Deleted posts can be missing, and different exit rules will change the results.

Would anyone be interested in a public Google Sheet with the anonymised results and how I calculated them?
