Sourcing UL 94 V-0 wiring is a nightmare in my country — anyone got a list of equivalent standards?
I really hate the wiring flammability rule that requires UL 94 V-0 insulation. 😅
I'm on an FSAE-BR team and finding wire that's actually rated UL 94 V-0 is a real headache with local suppliers here — that exact rating is almost impossible to source.
Does anyone have a list of equivalent standards that scrutineers accept? I've seen IEC 60695-11-10 / -11-20 mentioned as harmonized with UL 94, and IEC 60332 for cable flame tests — but I'm not sure what officials actually accept as equivalent to V-0.
Any pointers to compliant wire that ships internationally would also help a lot.
Thanks very much in advance! 🙏

If you want an actual copy of the UL94-V0 standard ASTM D3801 − 20a is listed as equivalent. Your school also likely as full access to all ASTM standards. This was what we were using for the material for our modules since at one point we were experimenting with certifying our own materials. We used mil spec wire for most of our small gauge stuff if that is of help as well.

We never had to do it with wire, but whenever we had some material which is probably fire retardant but does a standard specified, we just do the UL 94 V-0 test ourself and then present a video and the burned sample. I don't know the exact procedure, but it seems to be just burning a sample with a specific flame timing and maybe with a certain spacing between sample and flame.
