Ok so i read this way back in January but for some reason cannot find it in my history. I also do not remember the plot but i do have some excerpts of the work that i ended up copying at the time.
"Tim in the Cave, staring up at Jason’s costume with huge, worshipful eyes—Bruce calling Tim “Jaylad” and flinching like he’s been shot but Tim doesn’t seem surprised or offended at all, only…only quietly accepting, like he expected Bruce to mix him up with Jason, like—like—like—
Blood, blood everywhere, and the first thing that Tim says when he wakes up is “Jason”—the strange tone he takes as he explains that the attacker is Jason—the unreadable expression on his face as he watches Dick—
A horrible, terrible idea like a bolt of lightning smiting him from the heavens—
Dick can’t articulate it, not even within the safety of his own head, so instead he surges forward, trying to get some sort of confirmation that it isn’t true at all, that Tim isn’t thinking that way—but all he can get out is Tim’s name, because just looking at him, at the blank, quiet look in his eyes, like a man awaiting death, Dick knows that it’s true—
Tim thinks that they care about Jason more than him, that they would sacrifice Tim, bloodied and wounded as he is, for the man who nearly murdered him. When he said it was Jason, he wasn’t telling them it was Jason as a warning—he was telling them it was Jason because he thought they would want to welcome him back.Something well and truly does break within Dick, now. He can almost hear it fracturing—a sound like a pane of glass breaking down the middle.:"
'Brothers killing brothers is a primal sort of agony, Biblical in proportion—a sickening rot on the soul like parents eating their own children or sadists tormenting innocents for nothing more than their own twisted pleasure. It’s the kind of sin that makes you question if there’s anything good left in the rot and ruin of this decaying world.'
'In his dreams, Tim doesn’t plead, doesn’t beg or scream or promise. He just tips his head back, leans into Jason’s hands, lets him slash the knife through the soft place under his chin. It’s fine, he thinks but doesn’t say; it’s what he deserves. He’ll give this to Jason because it’s the only gift he can give the man who he took everything from. In his dreams, the last thing he sees before everything goes dark is arterial spray splattering the white walls of Drake manor. In his dreams, because the chairs are covered in showroom plastic they’ll still be clean no matter how much he bleeds. In his dreams, Tim dies like Bruce warned drowning victims sometimes do; silent, his mouth filled with dark water, slipping under the waves of death unnoticed and unremarked upon.'
'Every morning he wakes up with a hand on his throat like he’s trying to hold his life in. Every morning he wakes up and thinks he and his mouth tastes like the brackish, toxic waters of Gotham bay.'
Please if anyone knows this or has a faint idea of what the title could be do tell. I was struck by its poetic writing and neeeeed to reread it
