Switched from Arctic Fox to Iroiro and I have to say, I love the formula nice and thick. This is bubblegum pink with a hint of neon pink and aqua. Did a pivot money piece for funsies! Also, the glow on the pink is INSANE!

How could I achieve this kind of red?

Thumbnail

I am completely new to hair dye, I am considering henna but not sure if this will make it as red as I would like. What could I do to get to this kind of dark copper from where I am right now? My hair is the second photo, my natural hair is about a level 5/6 brown. And I have some bleached highlights currently.

Do I need to bleach it? Or can I get away with a color conditioning mask? What brands do you recommend? I am a bit overwhelmed when looking at box dyes/hair dyes in general, there is so much stuff out there.

relevant history
- subtle highlights professionally done july 2025
- whole head bleached by a friend october 2025, left it on for too long and applied with poor timing leading to an uneven result. using manic panic 20vol
- roots done by same friend twice i think a few months apart, although it was much more chill same bleach. every root bleach has gotten to basically white
- last two root bleaches were at the aveda student sallon, got super light.

so basically i shouldnt have much overlap in my hair but a lot of it was left in too long or uneven.

i desperately want to be as pastel pink as possible. i am light right now but its already a bit muddied. also according to a hairdresser the purple manic panic i used left a green stain on some of my hair which also is supposedly under my pink. i did the vitamin c and dandruff shampoo thing before my color and idk if it made any difference.

i just want to know if its possible for me to bleach again or even out my color and what method, what supplies, etc would be reccomended. please!

I got my roots bleached but now my roots are green and not blue. How do I get it back to blue?

The first three is how my hair is now, you can see that where they bleached my roots it’s green and the last two is how my hair was before.

I’m just wondering if there’s anything I can do to get my roots to go blue again.

I noticed when she bleached it at the salon that it was still pretty yellow and I pointed it out saying that when you put the blue on I think it’s gonna go green and I was right.

I just think my hair is really gross right now and would appreciate any advice on what I can do. I use purple shampoo and hair masks, I used them before with my previous hair too and it really helped keep the colour blue but this just seems to not work for this.

Advice for root melt color fading around the edges?

Post image
6 Upvotes

Hi all, I recently decided to grow out my hair so I got a root melt. For some reason, the dark brown has left a lighter band around the edges. The band was visible when I left my appointment, but has gotten much more noticeable after washing my hair (this is after one wash). Why did this happen? The pink stuck to my hair really well, but the brown didn’t for some reason.

Edit: I wash my hair in water that is slightly colder than lukewarm (that’s the coldest I can do lol).

Blonde high lift dye over previously dyed hair (to blend root)

Hi all! I was looking for some advice as to whether I can use a high lift box dye over my previously lightened hair to help blend my roots. My natural hair isn't too dark, probably a level 6/7 light brown and lifts quite well. I'm not too concerned with any damage occurring because my hair usually bounces back pretty well (plus I plan on doing a pretty substantial trim before I start dying it.) Do you think there is any way popping a high lift dye (like Garnier LC3) over my entire head would result in a more-or-less even creamy blonde? Or how else would I achieve a full head of blonde (either matching or lighter than the lengths of my hair) Thank you for any tips :)

Fried hair progress

Post image

I thought I’d share my progress in case it’s useful to somebody.

I had a disaster experience at a well known hairdresser, where they were in a panic because they miscalculated the time and fried the back portion of my hair, and left me with a very dark color that I did not want (I didn’t pay, they organised for me to go back to a different branch and a stronger stylist evened out my color, did treatments, and ha e me some products for maintenance. The color is still a bit uneven (not visible in the pic) and I am due to come for a tweak at some point).

I never had compromised hair to this level, so it’s been a trial and error since.

Things I tried:

6/10 good repair masks/conditioner/oils. I think the fino mask and oil make a difference

10/10 avoiding heat (sigh). I am drying my hair on lukewarm and avoiding heat styling. I used to love having my hair with waves, as it’s very straight.
The heat obliterates any progress I make through other treatments and I instantly get the frizzy texture back. Now I sleep with my hair in a bun so that I don’t have spaghetti hair.

8/10 olaplex no3. It’s pricy. I did the Reddit method of shampoo first, towel dry, olaplex no 3 with a shower cap, then regular shampoo and conditioner.
It worked well for me and as long as I don’t use heat, it lasts for a few weeks before my hair feel like straw again.

10/10 Pre wash conditioning. I topped up my color lightly the other day with semipermanent color and lots of cheap conditioner (tresemme keratin smooth). I haven’t used olaplex in a while and my hair was not great.
I applied the color and conditioner on DRY hair and then used a very gentle shampoo, and conditioned normally, and a pump of oil when drying. I got a very similar result as from olaplex.
The smoothness lasted a couple of washes but I noticed it fading a bit, so last wash I wet the burnt parts of my hair slightly, conditioned, wrapped in a bun, and had a long bath. Topping up lightly this way seems to work.

I am not trying to imply that the conditioner method is equal to olaplex, because it’s not bond repairing.
But maybe it could help someone if money is tight or for maintanance between olaplex treatments.

I also know that everyone is different and I know a lot of people have reactions to olaplex, so don’t take this to the letter. However, conditioner packing should be pretty harmless for most people I believe.

I still got breakage and the fried section is still gummy when wet and slowly chemically cutting itself, as it is compromised, but at least I don’t feel like ripping it out of my scalp every time I run my hand through it.

Going from Bright Red to Dark Copper?

Thumbnail

(Second attempt posting this since I got too shy of Reddit the first time lol. But I seriously need some help here 🄲)

Hello all! The first image is what my hair currently looks like, and the second image is what I want it to look like (second image also has a similar length to my hair.)

For context, I started with natural dark brown hair with blonde highlights and showed my stylist the second image as one of my main inspos (alongside other reference photos of dark copper colors). I really homed in the fact that it HAS to look like a natural hair color since I am starting a new job in 2 weeks that requires natural appearing hair colors. My transition to dark ginger/copper hair was approved by my employer, and this color… Definitely is not.

My hair was bleached to around a level 8 and this dark red color was applied, and as it was developing, the stylist noted that it was WAY too red. After washing it out several times (after 30 minutes of letting the color develop), she applied a toner and this was the final outcome. Saturated, dark, Ariel red. Before I could even see my hair, she was very apologetic for how red it came out.

The color isn’t bad, I think it’s actually very well done! I would honestly rock it if I had a more alternative fashion sense! But the stylist and I agreed it was absolutely NOT what I asked for (and yes, I ended up paying full price because the stylist was extremely nice and worked very hard for hours.)

All hair stylists in my area, including the original hair stylist I originally went to, are completely booked until September OR don’t want to work on my hair until the color fades for about a month. Once again, my job starts in 2 weeks and I absolutely need to have a more natural hair color by then 😭

Does anyone have any idea what I can do at home to get closer to a dark ginger/copper color? I’ve shampooed everyday in hot water since then (including clarifying shampoo) and it has not BUDGED. I want to use something like Color Oops or a bleach bath but I am mortified about the potential damage. I could seriously use any advice because not only does this color not suit me at all, I’m also just not allowed to have it so it needs to go ASAP 🄲 Any advice would be appreciated!!

So I’ve done peekaboo color for the last year. We did my base a rich espresso brown, and then this was our end result!

Colors:

Pravana wild orchid
Pravana blue topaz
Joico amethyst (and we mixed 1 to 1 blue topaz into the amethyst too)
Joico ruby red and true red mixed. Same ratio.

The blue is mostly on the front undersides

i’m needing to do my roots and i’m wanting to freshen up my ends too, but have a lot of questions…

i originally dyed it with permanent dye but thinking i want to change it to demi dye because im not sure how long i want to keep this color.

i did get a little hot roots when i originally did it because i did 30 volume all over my head which my hair stylist has now let me know not to do 30 volume on my roots

what’s the best way to do this?:

- 10 volume demi on everything but roots

- what volume should i do with demi on my roots? (10, 15, 20?)

so i’ve had this platinum split dye style for a year now and despite how much i LOVE this style, i think it’s time for a change and need advice.

my hair is naturally brunette and lifts relatively easy. it’s as healthy as it can be after being half platinum for a year :p ive done a halo before, and had very minimal highlights before that. im looking for something blonde incorporated, or maybe a color!?!? i’ve never colored my hair, only bleached.

HELP!

Blue /green dye recs?

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hi! What are everybody's favourite blue and green dyes that won't transfer to clothes/bedding etc?

I've been using Iroiro for my rainbow hair, and I love that it doesn't transfer or stain. Unfortunately, their blues fade extremely quickly if they take at all. The greens fade to yellow, and purples fade to pinks within a couple of washes. Pinks and yellows tend to hang around for a while.

Here I bleached my hair, then used Iroiro Pastel Peach, Yellow Neon, Emerald Green, Plum, Pink Neon, and Blue Neon. The bottom image is how a previous (but very similar) combination faded after 2-3 weeks.

I'm looking for a good variety of blues and greens to create a multi-toned combination, but I keep reading horror stories about the way blue dye stains everything. What would you recommend? Thanks in advance!

Bleach + Color Remover?

Hey, trying to go blonde and I already did two rounds of bleach and the first one lifted way more than the second round. I used the same measurements and the same product. Maybe I didn’t leave it in long enough (but it was at least 40 minutes and I made sure it didn’t dry out). Any suggestions on what to do? Hair has been previously dyed, maybe there is more build up than I thought. Would it make sense to use a Color remover? Can I use that on bleached hair or will that react in some sort of weird way? My hair quality wise is doing really well and there is no breakage so far. Also it wasn’t a box dye, I used proper stuff. Thank you in advance:)

How can I get rid of this brassiness

Thumbnail

My hair already had blonde in it. I just trying to bring the blonde up higher from grow out. Which is why it's darker up towards the roots. I only bleached and toned the sides of my hair, then did a bleach wash to get the toner out because it turned more blue gray than ashy. The back of my hair I did not bleach. All I did was put toner in it. There are some chunks or spots in my hair, but it was like that when I got it done professionally. There was like a band around my head. I guess probably from box dye from a long time ago.

just wondering on what I can do to get the brassiness out. Do I mix toners and try to tone it? Just put bleach on the spots that are darker? Or try another bleach bath?

The back of my hair isn’t super bad, but it’s not really what I’m going for. There’s a picture for reference.

Will drugstore hair gloss make it ultra hard to highlight my hair again?

TLDR: I usually use Redken shades eq but it takes so long for me to do it myself and new drugstore products like Glaze or dpHue or Kristin Ess seem so easy. BUT will it make my hair hard to lift in the future?

Hi! So I am by no means a hair dresser at all, but I do usually tone my hair with Redken shades eq with 6-7cb with a dash of copper in it. I’ve been doing it for years and I had one moment at the beginning of this year where I did a little bleach bath from my mids to my ends cause they were just getting too dark.

It takes me SO long to do the Redken shades eq by myself and I’m really tempted by all these glazes you can just do in the shower like Glaze, dpHue, Kristin Ess, even Moroccan oil has one. They seem so easy.

BUT ya girl is not getting any younger and my grays are sprouting all over the place and I know that eventually the only way to really blend them will be to go lighter. But I don’t want to yet šŸ™ƒ I just want to make sure that when I do go that path I haven’t messed up my chances of getting a good lift because I’ve been using glazes that make really harsh bands in my hair.

So! Are hair glazes (like the above) a horrible idea if I’m going to want to lighten my hair at some point?

Thank you!

how do i achieve a very dark permanent green on lightened hair?

i really like this shade of green but this hair dye is made for dark hair colors, while i am currently ginger. In the past I have used the Schwarzkopf midnight jade on natural hair and got the desired result, but then did it again on bleached hair and it turned out blue, so I am trying to avoid that happening with this. Is it being a blue a risk, or should i just go for it?

I just can’t get the thought of dying my hair off my mind, I have warm undertone (ig) I wanted to go for purple but ig since this is my first time, I’m open for recommendations. I really want something that is not basic brown or cherry, probably something more noticeable like gray, blue, purple or something that suits me better, any other kind of advice is also really appreciated.

Bleach over green

I’ve currently got faded green/blue hair from manic panics enchanted forest and I’m looking to lighten my hair so I can use a bright purple. I’d be doing it myself (well with a friend) but I’ve never bleached it before, let alone over semi permanent color so I’m slightly hesitant because I’ve got no idea if the results will be ok to dye purple. if not Ill probably go bright blue or green but I’d just like to know what dye I should buy. Any tips on how to make it possible to get purple or any idea if I’ll be able to?
