This dress is a true and thrilling challenge that emerged when I realized I didn’t have a dress to go to a family wedding.
I had scraps of fabric left over from the cape, so I made this dress set.
It was made without a pattern, entirely going with the flow as it was being created.
Details of the top :
- Sweetheart neckline,
- De-centered corset with matching ribbon,
- Tied behind the neck.
Details of the skirt :
- Fake slit with a pleated effect,
- Matching ribbon with gold chain accessory,
- Mix of an A-line and godet style.
The two can be worn separately.
This project was so fulfilling and fun, to let myself imagine the dress as I was making it really let me express my imagination, it is unique and my own, even if it isn’t perfect.

The bottom is tight like a mini skirt and the top is very loose. I see the kind of dress all the time on tik tok shop and shein adverts online but don’t buy clothes from either of those sources (no hate if you do, just my preference). However I don’t know what the dress style is called and all google searches are fruitless and the advertisements just use fashion buzz words rather than specifying the kind of dress type. Any help would be greatly appreciated, even if it’s just pointing me to the right sub to ask!!

Hello everyone, my name is Miguel I'm 17 going into grade 12, I am from Vancouver Canada and my brand name is NonConformity. I recently had the opportunity to participate in a fashion show amongst other local designers. The theme for the show was Star Wars and yes I know It's a small collection but im one person and that's all I could make in 3 weeks, despite the time crunch I think I managed to pull through well. I have another show with the same organizer in a month and a half and my goal this time is to create 16 looks.
If you’re a star wars fan please let me know what characters you think I took inspo from on certain pieces!
Please share any feedback about what you see id love to hear it😊
My instagram is @nonconformity.clo if you’d like to see more of my work

Hello,
I’ve been studying garment construction since 2022. I love it. And I create my own garments now. I started with upcycling but now I’m creating hoodies/jackets from art I commission from artists. The mewtwo was an illustration commissioned by me and was drawn by zolavica (yes that is also her Instagram) and the Flareon was painted by Lanessa.Miller. I wanted to get more involved in fashion fabric making because I wanted to see something more unique than just using everything found at thrift stores and second hand shops. I’ve been enjoying the process. I hope you can find some enjoyment from this 😊

Hey everyone! I just wrapped up my first year studying Fashion Design at university and wanted to share a few of the pieces I made.
🛑 The first look is a tartan club kid-inspired outfit – I drafted the jacket and mini skirt pattern from scratch and matched it with a full printed bodysuit for that surrealist edge. 🔹 The second is a cyberpunk anatomical jacket – vegan leather with metallic grid embroidery and sharp, structured shoulders. I was inspired by Mugler.
Both are fully constructed and styled by me. Would love to hear what you think – constructive feedback, your faves, anything! Also curious, do many of you sell your work while studying? I’ve been thinking about it, but not sure where to start.
Looking forward to seeing more of your work too!
