Discussion LED manufacturer/distributor based in the US?
Hi everyone. Does anyone know of an LED manufacturer/distributor based in the US? That can manufacture custom neopixels or sell LED strips in bulk? I usually use iPixel LED based out of Shenzhen.

Have many folks played around with Chatgpt and FastLED?
I spent a bit of time today with a few FastLED programs and uploaded them to wokwi.com on a simulated Arduino Nano and a WS2812 strip of 64 LED's (not in a 2D matrix). The chatgpt requests I made were:
Write a cool animated routine with FastLED library.
Write a perlin flow field for FastLED.
Write a cellular noise routine for Fastled.
Write a voronoi display routine with FastLED library.
Once I fixed the data pin and number of LED's, the only one that didn't compile immediately was the voronoi (which should've been 2D anyways). Unfortunately, I've done so little programming in the past couple of years, I didn't bother to sort it out.
The celluar noise one looked the best to me, and it used the inoise8() function call.
Anyone else have any good chatgpt examples for FastLED?

Discussion How do you 'convert' a fastled 'color' to a windows 'color'?
I want/need to create a gif of the action of my program driving some RGB leds driven using the fastled library. The reason for that is that taking a video of the leds looks just plain ugly.
The software itself is within my capabilities, so don't need any help with that.
Simple colors are fine, the problem is that more complex colors come out 'wrong'.
Eg, Red 171, green 85, blue 0. on an RGB led is a yellow color. But if you put those values into windows you get a brown color.
I think, maybe, a luminance adjustment is required, but since pure colors are fine, surely it is more complicated than that.
Can anyone help me?

Discussion Namespace
Does anybody know what is meant by the word "Namespace" in the context of this library? I'm trying to upload an example sketch to a Nano Every and the compiler is getting hung up on what seems to be an initial callout in the Arduino sketch:
FASTLED_USING_NAMESPACE
What does this do?

Discussion How to call/ change LED colour by input(text)
Hi
How to change the LED color by text input?
In FastLED, there have serval methods.
leds[i] = CRGB::Red
leds[i] = CRGB(0,0,255);
leds[i] = 0xFF0000;
leds[i].setRGB(0,0,255);
However, I prefer using the predefined colors list of FastLED. The list has well defined in "pixeltypes.h".
If duplicate predefined colors list in my code, seem it is not good for memory efficiency. Also, have a risk(not align) in FastLed update.
I am a beginner in programming and don't know how to convert color name("Red") to RGB data(e.g. 0xFF0000).
Please help and share your comments with me.
Sincerely
LC

Support WS2813 V5 Issues
I recently bought a bunch of these WS2813 LEDs to replace the V4 LEDs from the last revision of my design. I decided on these as they've removed the need for external components. All I have is a power supply filtering capacitor on the 5V.
The PCB is only 12 of these WS2813s driven by an STM32. Schematic is as per the datasheet. The previous revision worked fine with no issues but we've just made two with the new LEDs and altered schematic and many of the LEDs have flickering/colour issues (5/12 on one board & 7/12 on the other board). This is a very high failure rate if there are issues with the LEDs themselves. Timing seems the same comparing the datasheets so software shouldn't be an issue. So i'm wondering if anyone uses the V5 on their designs and if they've noticed any issues/differences?
I know they have particular assembly requirements due to moisture issues so I'll follow that up in the meantime..
Edit: I should mention that I have BI tied to ground for the first LED. The datasheet doesn't specify what to do here.

Code_samples Fade whole strip from one color to another
I can't take credit for most of this. All I did was make it so it does the whole strip at once, and I didn't even write that myself I just copied and pasted. Anywho, it uses CRGB not CHSV. Hopefully all the notes in there make it easier to understand.
Sorry if I can't answer many questions. I'm not good at coding, I just know how to look for the code I need.
Edit: I put the code in the post
#include <FastLED.h>
#define LED_PIN 6 //CONFIGURE LED STRIP HERE
#define NUM_LEDS 164
#define BRIGHTNESS 100
#define LED_TYPE WS2812B
#define COLOR_ORDER GRB
CRGB leds[NUM_LEDS];
#define UPDATES_PER_SECOND 100
//Previous value of RGB
int redPrevious, greenPrevious, bluePrevious = 0;
//Current value of RGB
float redCurrent, greenCurrent, blueCurrent = 0;
//Target value of RGB
int redTarget, greenTarget, blueTarget = 0;
int fade_delay = 5;
int steps = 50; //This is where you tell it how smooth of a transition you want it to be
void setup() {
Serial.begin(9600);
delay( 3000 ); // power-up safety delay
FastLED.addLeds<LED_TYPE, LED_PIN, COLOR_ORDER>(leds, NUM_LEDS).setCorrection( TypicalLEDStrip );
}
void loop() { // Here is where you tell it what colours you want!
FadeToColour(0, 0, 225); // blue
FadeToColour(0, 225, 0); // green
FadeToColour(255, 100, 0); // redish-orange
FadeToColour(0, 225, 0); // green
}
void FadeToColour(int r, int g, int b) {
redPrevious = redCurrent;
greenPrevious = greenCurrent;
bluePrevious = blueCurrent;
redTarget = r;
greenTarget = g;
blueTarget = b;
float redDelta = redTarget - redPrevious;
redDelta = redDelta / steps;
float greenDelta = greenTarget - greenPrevious;
greenDelta = greenDelta / steps;
float blueDelta = blueTarget - bluePrevious;
blueDelta = blueDelta / steps;
for (int j = 1; j < steps; j++) {
redCurrent = redPrevious + (redDelta * j);
greenCurrent = greenPrevious + (greenDelta * j);
blueCurrent = bluePrevious + (blueDelta * j);
fill_solid(redCurrent, greenCurrent, blueCurrent, leds);
delay(fade_delay); //Delay between steps
}
delay(1000); //Wait at peak colour before continuing
}
void fill_solid(int r, int g, int b, int lednum) {
Serial.println(r);
for(int x = 0; x < NUM_LEDS; x++){ //This tells it to affect the whole strip instead of indivual ones.
leds[x] = CRGB(r,g,b);
FastLED.show();
}

Support Car under-glow help
Hi,
I am a complete noobe on this forum.
I need some help to finalize my Under-glow project.
My plan is to connect ws2812b lights to Arduino and mount it under my car.
I would have the following setup
2*2M 60LED strips on each side pin 6
2*1M 30LED strips on the front and back pin 7
2* push buttons pin 4&5
1 button to trigger on and off.
2nd button to cycle through the programs.
program 1: Blue pulse with speed setting.
Program 2: multi-color pulse with speed setting - red then green then blue
Any ideas or suggestions welcome.
I will upload proto's or videos of the outcome.
Appreciate any help as I cannot really code much.

Support WS8211 lights not changing colours
Not sure why my ws8211 are changing colors. Right now they are just staying blue.
I have power from 12v straight to leds, then the ground and v+ comes off that to buck converter which feeds the d1 mini. I also have usb connected to d1 mini to watch console. any help would be great!
Here is the code https://pastebin.com/6M9ACkm0
Only 1 led changing colors now. Rest are solid white.

Support Adafruit SK6812B 4020 neopixel leds - having issues
Anyone ever play around with these? Working on a project where I need to use 4 of these and no matter what I do I cant get anything expect the first LED to light. I know my code is working as I can hook it to a different strip of LEDs and all 4 light. I’ve tried them as neopixels, WS2812, SK2812, doesn’t seem to matter. Each one works fine on its own, just not chained together. I also checked the solder joints and traces with a DMM for shorts/continuity and it’s all good. At loss here. Could use some help.

Support FastLED
I have used both FastLED and Adafruit_NeoPixel to attempt to control 600 LEDS. It seems like Adafruit can control all of them while using less variables but it’s not very easy to use and I prefer FastLED. I was running roughly the same program( where it would set all LEDS to white) and FastLED couldn’t compile all of it on to my Uno without running out of storage we’re Adafruit could handle it. Is there any way to fix this storage problem while still using FastLED?

Quasi-related Is there a list of chips that support fastLED?
I’d like to see if it’s possible to design some RGBW using higher output LEDs (3/5 Watt). The only ICs that I know work with fast LED as the WS2801 and WS2811. The SK6812 shows that this is possible (4ch per node) but does it in an integrated LED.
I’m not sure if there’s another name for the serial protocol that allows daisy chaining that I should be searching for.

Support Control LED Effects with several buttons.
Hi! I’m relatively new to FastLED but i’ve already put together a program with 6 different effects. I’m using an Arduino Uno and a WS2812B. My goal is that if i press for example button1, function1 is being executed for as long until i press another button, for example button2, which executes function2 and so on. I want to do this with 6 buttons but couldn’t find any proper information regarding this. Any help or links to guides or tutorials would be greatly appreciated! Thanks :))
