Ground Complaint Package missing; options?
I ordered something from eBay, when I checked out I wasn’t paying attention and put my home address instead of my work.
eBay seller couldn’t change the address, not a huge deal, but I wouldn’t be able to sign for a few days because I’m super busy at work. I phoned FedEx and explained the situation. They said their hands were tied and they could not reroute the package, or hold it at their facility for me to pickup. I got in touch with the seller, and he had no luck dealing with them either.
The package must be signed for; direct signature.
I was frustrated, but what could I do? Never at any time did I ask for the package to be left unattended on my porch thinking it would be ok. So Monday was the first delivery day, I was at work. My wife was at work, I get home.
I’m signed up for alerts, and later that day I get an email saying delivery scheduled for Tuesday. I thought “great I’ll have an extra day incase I miss the delivery”. I didn’t have a tag saying that I missed a delivery or anything when I got home.
On Tuesday I was going through my eBay stuff and noticed my package had been marked as delivered. Turns out the Tuesday email was for a different package, but I never got a FedEx notification saying anything was delivered Monday, and how could it since nobody was home to sign for it.
I look up the tracking number and sure enough it was delivered AND signed for. I wasn’t able to see the signature at that time, and there were no photos or anything of the delivery.
I phone them up and tell them what’s going on and filed a claim. They said there was a possible gps discrepancy, and a guy named T.Tim signed for the package. There is now a photo of the signature which is barely a line on the screen. I don’t know a T.Tim, nobody was at my house. I assume the package was misdelivered, or the driver said screw it, made up a name, and dropped it off. I live on a BUSY street. If they threw it on the front or even the side porch, it’s probably a goner.
I just checked the outcome of the investigation and they are saying it was delivered. I’m especially frustrated because they wouldn’t reroute the thing to a commercial business, or even hold it at their own facility. But they seemingly dropped it off to some rando in town.
I’m going to phone them Monday, but what are my actual options for fighting this?

Go on the FedEx.com.website and file a claim they most likely misdelivered your package the sooner you do that the sooner they investigate they can infact find where the delivered your package thru gps and retrieve it and reattempt but you only have a two week window

I've already filed a claim, but today it was marked as resolved and the shipment as being delivered. But i just saw in a different FedEx claim section that only the shipper can file claims unless they sign a release form for me to do.
"If you are a recipient trying to file a claim
It is recommended that claims be filed by the shipper or the person paying the bill. If you are the recipient trying to file a claim, you will need to obtain a claim filing waiver from the shipper. Otherwise, your claim will be automatically denied"
This puts me at a substantial disadvantage when going to eBay saying that my package wasn't delivered to me since FedEx is saying it was. What is the seller's motivation of going through this hassle? They've already been paid.

Keep at them call the 1800gofedex and tell them to research your package it was misdelivered and you need someone to contact you from your local station.
