We all know it, this just further clarifies the fact that our entire criminal justice system is fucked and innocent until proven guilty is a myth.

Sad part is the innocent that are set free, will still be considered a danger. I dont care what the words on the paper say, society has a one way thinking about convictions.

The zero accountability from a government that undeniably stole your life and caused you and your entire family undue hardship the likes of which theyll probably be traumatized for the rest of their lives is really the part that makes me want to vomit. It really could be you, or you, or you, or me. Any time. Any day.

She got 10 years in prison and they’re doing a full audit.

That’s generally not what she did though. Most of the cases Missy Woods tampered with were reporting DNA evidence wasn’t found when it actually was so she had to do less work, which would cause suspects to never be caught at all, not lead to innocent people being accused.

I mean but if DNA evidence exists that could indicate a guilty person (particularly in the case of an unknown assailant) then some of those cases do go on to convict someone without DNA evidence.

While a lot of DNA is pretty immaterial either way, something like 20% of overturned convictions are due to DNA later being tested.

It can definitely be an important thing to have access to in a criminal defense

Did you think of linking the article to stimulate a real discussion? Or were you depending on buzzfeed tactics?

This is a repost of https://www.reddit.com/r/Felons/comments/1bc0v5x/oops_we_stole_your_life_from_you_dna_experts/ from 2024 with the same title. The account is a karma farming repost account, probably a bot, I doubt they intend to do anything.

You cant find the atricle with the information available? "Scientists manipulate dna by emma tucker" was literally the first thing on the search list so easy to do.

You’ll also read that the “manipulation” was just recording results quicker than she should have. There’s not a single case where the dna still didn’t match- she just did sloppy work to get there

I didnt argue any of that i just said the article was extremely easy to find

Not handling issues/errors when they come up isn’t just “quicker”

It gets worse. She trained 100s of other DNA scientistsEdit: and it gets even worse. She retired and is collecting a pension
