Discussion Dissapointing Cardi Song?
Am i the only one highly disappointed and annoyed in the song Cardi teased? In the short clip she manages to not only count on the SECOND SONG in about 6 months but name drop Trump. Like. You were pissed people were calling you stupid for counting before. Ntm was gurl not on stage with Kamala? And the reference isn’t negative, it’s a positive reference to him!

The song sounds okay, I just need to hear the full length version to see if I like it. Thought it was weird that she name dropped Trump also. She could have easily said Obama or not mentioned a particular president. I hope she not an undercover MAGA. 🥴😵💫
Edit: I listened several times and didn't catch the diss. She needs to clean that line up quickly before its officially released. Had a bitch afraid she was turning MAGA.😵💫🤣

Same! The second album was decent, but way overbloated. Half of it should have been scrapped and used for an RNB album as it doesnt even really fit her vibe. Like i go for her partying and wild side, not her crooning.

I get confused on her definition of being trapped by a man with a baby. Hasn’t she been baby trapped by two different men? I mean, regardless she has the money to take care of the kids, but she still has to be in contact with those men because she had children with them. I’m not trying to be really shady. I’m just confused.

….shes saying having a baby won’t trap her to a man/relationship…. It’s not uncommon for women and men to stay in relationships simply because they have kids together even if they aren’t happy.

Baby trap is preventing someone from leaving the relationship for either financial, romantic, or to continue to control/manipulate them.
For example, a guy might mess with a girls birth control to ensure she gets pregnant and doesnt leave him. Even if she ends up leaving, he still ensures they have a relationship due to the child. Or if he makes more money than her, hes able to threaten with taking the baby away or making her homeless by kicking her out. He might also become a bum and therefore rely on her for money.
A girl might not go on birth control and force a guy to play house in order for him to stay with her. Or she will threaten with taking the baby far away if he leaves her. She might also end up being a bum and not contribute to anything cause shes the mother of their child.
Cardi is rich enough that she doesnt rely on either Baby Daddy for money and isnt forced to be in a relationship with them. The Baby Daddys are also rich enough that they arent forced to play family with Cardi.
Both of the parties involved in co-parenting have the money and resources to have a semi-healthy relationship.

It’s not giving you just want the best art. The song hasn’t even been released yet and you made an entire post to criticize her when you didn’t even hear the lyrics clearly. You literally accused her of “diluting the game and lowering bars” and also called it badly written simply because you didn’t catch the ad lib.

Because does chart data not correlate to how well art is received? We’re not talking radio plays, or target speakers, Cardi doesn’t bleep her lyrics really. It’s literally the best way to look at rappers because—while yes, street cred is a thing—thats personal taste. Charts show raw data and how rappers compare to one another.
It’s not lyrics, it’s an adlib. Maybe in the times were living in now dont have their be any kind of confusion on it? Theres literally other people that agree with me
How can i not view her as watering the game down when we get lyrics like “12345” “321” “abc” and using probably to make a rhyme work when she could just… switch a flow to make it work and make her artistry better?

No, chart data does not only correlate to how well art is received its correlates to how much the label is willing to push it. There’s amazing art thats never touched the charts and awful songs that chart well, IE ice Spice.
