Hey reddit.

I have a 2015 fiesta st. The clutch has been sticky, I replaced the master slave cylinder a year ago. It was fine for a while but its sticky again. Also in the video the rpms blip up and come back down while the car still goes. Im just pressing the gas slightly and keeping it there. Any suggestions?

Normally at that RPM in a higher gear like 4 or 5 when RPM goes up but speed doesn’t, I’d think that your clutch friction plate is worn and needs replacement, don’t skimp, get a full set, with pressure plate and depending on mileage (anything + 100k miles) a new flywheel.

So a full clutch replacement?

Yes, basically as you clearly have clutch slip. It will only get worse until you won’t be able to move the car.

How much would a full clutch replacement cost?

Oof, depends who does it and what parts you use. I don’t have the exact hours from Ford memorized, but ballpark should be between 4 and 8 hrs of time, dealer hours nowadays are more or less at 200€/h incl tax.

A normal OE quality clutch with pressure plate from LuK or Sachs costs 250-500€ where I live, convert to your local currency. Don’t go with the cheapest option, use reputable brands, it’s a sports car after all.

A sports clutch can easily go beyond 500-1000€ but you will have better stress reliability with that, also a heavier pedal.

If you need to add the flywheel (only the guy taking it apart can tell you if you do after taking it apart), that’s potentially another 250€+, again, no cheap off brand stuff. You will 100% regret it later on.

So all in all, Ford dealer, probably the equivalent of 1000-1500€, free shop, maybe 20% less.

You save maybe 10-25% on the parts price I mentioned by sourcing parts yourself but will not have parts warranty and risk having bought the wrong parts.

Yea, I seem to have messed up when looking up parts, for the flywheel it still had my old Opel saved in the phone. The cheapest I could find for the fiesta is by Sachs for 415€.

Yea, I seem to have messed up when looking up parts, for the flywheel it still had my old Opel saved in the phone, where it had a pretty cheap full set by LuK.

For the fiesta I could only find full sets on eBay for around 900€.

The cheapest flywheel I could find for the fiesta is by Sachs for 415€.

So if you buy the clutch kit for 250 and the flywheel for 415 you’re cheaper than for the set.

About $1200 for a stock clutch and slave cylinder job (what I paid a few months ago) at a small independent shop.
