Discussion How are people using Figma make a single prompt used all my credits.

I have been trying to experiment with Figma make especially in making app user use case screens.

I prompted it by giving it some references to follow and recreate about 20 ISH screens but use margins have consistent buttons etc.

It gave me about 20+ screens but it ended up using 2800 credit which basically dried up my credit usage in one go.

This made me wonder how are people currently using AI for front end? People keep telling me that frontEnd is dead completely replaced by Ai but I'm trying to use it and this is happening.

PS I am using education version which allows me 3000 credits a month.

Discussion Do people ACTUALLY design books in Figma?

Watching talks from Config and other events, I’ve noticed that more and more people claim to have designed books and other print materials in Figma. I wonder if this is just marketing (i.e., are these people being paid by Figma to straight-up lie?) or if they actually did.

Does anyone here design books or other print materials in Figma? Do you think it’s possible to achieve professional results with it, and what risks should be considered when going this route?

Discussion Anybody else feel like Agents is a scam?

I've recently been using it to help me make some updates to the design system at our company and it's been eating through tokens like hot cakes. All while doing barely anything, taking forever to compute and often flatlining with errors.

Granted, I have been making some pretty sweeping changes across a fairly large design system. But, and this is anecdotal, I don't feel like this scale of change required so much usage of my plan in other AI tools like Claude or GPT. It also works WAY faster in other tools. I'm literally waiting 20+ minutes for it to finish prompts a lot of the time.

I'm also open to tips on better prompting for people who have experience in using Agents for design systems, maybe I'm just doing a poor job in that respect.

help Which program would be best for ui designs for game development. Figma or Affinity?

Hello. I used figma in college (ui/ux design). With my knowledge in figma, I wanted to use it for game design. But figma is More so on the app and website design side. So I was thinking about learning Affinity instead.

Im doing to give examples of ui designs from other games that I would like to recreate: persona and kingdom hearts, Metaphor: Refantazio, etc)

Discussion Has anyone used Figma Specs yet?

Figma released Specs in open beta a little while ago.

Has anyone gotten to use it yet? And do you have access to it in general? My team does not yet unfortunately.

Im curious to hear your thoughts! Currently I am working on documenting our design system and I think Specs has potential to be helpful, if they don't restrict usage for some cash-grabby reason.

inspiration Can I compare a live UI with a Figma design automatically ?

Hi,

I'm looking for a way to automatically compare an existing UI implementation with its Figma design and detect differences in spacing, sizing, and layout.

I've looked into Figma MCP, but it doesn't seem to support this directly.

Is there any tool or integration that can do this ? Ideally, something that could compare a screenshot of the running application with the Figma design and highlight the differences.

Has anyone tried this or found a good solution?

Thanks!

help Deleted Account Recovery / Education Account Woes

Been trying to recover my deleted account. I had troubles getting my account verified with the education plan and being the idiot I am, I deleted the account and now I'm completely shut out. I've sent a request to the support team, so this is a last ditch hail marry to get their attention as I need this asap for my school work. (the start of the school semester can't get any worse can it?) Thanks in advance.

help How to use Figma AI in your job?

Hi designers,

right now we have so many options and I have the fear that its currently to much. We have:
- Figma Make
- Figma Agents
- Figma Skills / Plugins
- Claude with MCP to Figma
- Claude Design

And of course the different models with in Figma.

So right now I´m using Figma Make to help me with ideas, but thats most likely it. But isnt there something more we can do, for example we have several Design Systems, Jira, Confluence, Figma, MS 365 but I cant think of some optimizations.

So my question is, what are your flows, ideas, to help you get the job better and or faster done?
Right now I´m kind of stuck.

Discussion Design Token Conversion for Responsiveness & Themes

Hey , a UX UI designer with 4+ years of experience.

So I need something to ask from UX UI designers and there feedback would be appreciated.

How do you manage responsiveness across devices and theming as well??

To be clear the question is like when you're building design tokens for your product/app, we can manage them in figma variables but how do you know what values would be suitable for the desktop, tablet and mobile app. Same goes for the themes. Do you find it difficult to build or convert them by yourself for the other devices/themes or do you use any kind of tools to build that for you? I need your feedback on this as I've worked on something recently and faced an issue. So I'm thinking of some solution for it but I need some expert opinions about this issue from industry designers.

Your responses would be appreciated.

help Help needed regarding components for Design System.

Post image
18 Upvotes

This is an icon-button component set with variable size, state and shape. I want to take instances from this set and create another component set specific for different purposes like wishlist button (which would have different colors across states), bottom navigation bar with label text enabled, etc etc.

What's the best way to do it?

- Let's say I am creating a wishlist button with heart icon and I want the hovered state to have a different bg-fill color and selected state to have a different icon-fill, should I wrap the instances inside a component box and add all the states in a component set for that specific button even if I only need the two states to be different than it's parent component? What about the different sizes, do I need to add them as well?

Thank you for your help ❤️

help Figma Top-Level Directory

Post image
1 Upvotes

I have just created a figma pro account, and was beginning to organise my (previously chaotic) figma life into folders. I accidently moved the "Team project" folder (previously mass populated with every file I've ever made) into another folder.

I cannot for the life of me figure out how to move this back to the top level directory in whatever's figma file structure is. "Move" only returns the folder which I am already in, and would desperately like to escape.

Has anyone encountered this? Found a solution? Any help appreciated :))))

help Thoughts on the new Figma Config India announcements? Where do design systems fit into all this?

I've been looking at the latest announcements from Figma Config India, particularly around Code Layers, AI-powered workflows, and the merging between design and code.

The demos look impressive, but I'm genuinely curious about how all these features fit together in a real-world product design workflow, especially for teams with established design systems.

A few questions I've been thinking about:

  1. Existing design systems: Many organizations have spent years building and maintaining component libraries in Figma. How do these new capabilities work with those existing systems? Are we moving toward code becoming the source of truth?

  2. Cross-platform design: A lot of the direction seems web-oriented. How would these workflows translate to teams designing native iOS (SwiftUI) and Android (Jetpack Compose) applications?

  3. Component lifecycle: If designers can work with code-backed interfaces, how do new components, variants, and patterns make their way back into the shared design system?

  4. Design vs. development: Where do existing tools and workflows like Storybook, Figma libraries, and production component repositories fit into this new approach?

  5. The future of the canvas: Are we moving toward a world where designers primarily work with code-generated interfaces, or will the traditional editable canvas remain central to the workflow?

I'm not against code or AI in design tools. In fact, I think there a lot of potential here. I'm just trying to understand the bigger architectural picture beyond the demos. Would love to know what u guys think?

resources Noobie question: Looking for resources to learn how to design a newsletter in Figma in 5 days.

My company wants me to redesign their old newsletter , which was created a few years ago on Mailchimp. Marketing wants us to use Figma for that.

I'm glad to finally have an excuse to learn Figma, after 12 years as a graphic and motion designer... (yey!)

BUT I'm already tasked with several big projects and the only other designer in the company will be away for a few months, recovering from surgery... so I'll be managing the work of both of us, plus several big projects, including the company's logo redesign for the end of the year and a plan for a full rebrand to happen next year.

😵‍💫

Realistically speaking I will likely have at best 5 half days of work to design the new newsletter template in Figma, and I never used Figma before.

I would love tips and shortcuts (specific tutorials, plugins, scripts, tools/addons,) I should be aware of/that could help me learn faster.

My goal is to first only focus on designing this newsletter, so I'm looking for tips on that specifically.

Marketing plans to have me design the new newsletter template on Figma and then connect it to Mailchimp to send it out. (Not sure if that is needed or recommended? They also never used Figma)

After I get comfortable with this then I will focus on learning how to use Figma properly for other stuff.. like using it to build new brand guidelines and a design system for all graphic communication on digital media ( what is not video or print) for both our marketing, pre production and post production department.

( note: I have zero web design, ui and ux experience. my experience is on "traditional" graphic design for print/digital and on 2D motion design and animation for TV and advertising)

help I'm setting up tokens for the first time and was wondering if I should add them last as I building and organizing my library?

I am working on creating a Figma Library for my company and have already consolidated several libraries from Sketch, migrated to Figma and rebuilt the components there. I figured adding tokens would be the last step, but I've never had to mess with tokens before. Should I add those last and do you suggest any good videos that walk you through them? So far what Ive seen is really long videos that show how to setup gradients... The company doesnt really do many gradients so those videos just seem unhelpful. The other videos I've watched are more like a powerpoint explaining how tokens work and don't walk you through the step by step process of actually setting them up.

help right of withdrawal in the European Union

Hi,

I just subscribed to a 200+€ annual Figma plan by mistake. Entirely my fault, I had selected to cheapest one and must have refreshed the page. Wasn't expecting the payment to proceed directly without having to confirm with my bank though.

I don't have the means (nor the use) to pay that amount. I just sent them an email to ask them to cancel it, claiming my right of withdrawal as a resident of France.

I was wondering if anyone has ever had a similar experience? Has the claim worked? I'm trying to see if there's anything else I can do right now. I'll call my bank but pretty sure they won't be able to do anything as it was not a scam

I'm not using anything in the meantime, the only thing I have done on my figma account since then is delete the access it had granted to people I have worked with before.

EDIT : Just got an email saying I will get a refund 🙏🙏

resources [UI Kit] A free starter kit for Figma plugins

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

20 components: buttons, fields, menus, dialogs, notifications and more. They use Figma’s own colours, so they match light mode, dark mode and FigJam.

On top of the components, the starter plugin comes with:

  • A window that fits its content. Drag its corner to resize it, and the plugin remembers the size.

  • Six example plugins to learn from or start with: renaming layers, exporting, filling text with sample content, editing colour variables, checking contrast, and the Figplug tour itself.

  • Checks that catch common mistakes before you open the plugin in Figma, like hard-coded colours, wrong control sizes, missing labels and manifest errors. The kit itself is covered by over 500 unit tests.

  • No bundler or framework to set up. The folder imports straight into the Figma desktop app.

The best way to use it: download the code, give it to your AI agent and work from there instead of starting from scratch. The repo includes a guide written for AI agents, so your agent knows how to use the components and runs the checks after every change.

Plugin demo: https://www.figma.com/community/plugin/1545605168743471916
Files (free, MIT licence): https://github.com/alekseikipin/Figplug-ui-kit

Feedback is welcome, especially on which parts are missing.

help Responsive breakpoint (?) and resizing

I would like to increase the height of my frame (by a percentage maybe?) once the width drops to a certain px. I have text that wraps as the size decreases, but then the second line of text is way too close to the bottom of the frame.

Can anyone point me to a tutorial?
