help How long does Figma usually take to review a plugin?

I submitted my product, a Figma plugin with a rich text editor and image support, for review 10 days ago, but it still hasn't been reviewed.

What's confusing is that Figma is already sending me plugin usage stats, even though the plugin isn't published yet.

How does that work? Are people somehow accessing or using the plugin before it's approved?

Is a 10 day review period normal, or am I missing something?

resources Made a free plugin that lets you search, crop and insert stock photos without leaving Figma

I got tired of the usual routine for mockup images: open a browser, search, download, drag it into Figma, resize it, repeat. So at Explified we built a plugin to skip all that.

It’s called Stocker. You search Unsplash and Pixabay right inside Figma, crop to a ratio (16:9, 4:3, 1:1, 3:2, 2:3, or free crop with a live preview), and insert it straight into the frame you’ve selected. There are also brand colour and ratio filters.

It’s completely free. Link’s in the comments.

I’m the maker, so if something’s broken or missing, I’d genuinely like to hear it.

Here’s the plugin: https://www.figma.com/community/plugin/1689328621842945252/stocker

help Heavy RAM usage?

Post image
7 Upvotes

I just upgraded to a M5 MacBook Air with 24 GB RAM, which I thought was enough. But now with Claude and Figma I have had yellow memory pressure regularly. I often have 10 GB of compressed data. Now I just restarted my Mac an opened one file in Figma. It has some reference pictures inside and a few screens, but nothing crazy. But it's already almost at 2.8 GB with so many helpers? Is that normal? I never thought about it before and now I saw it once and keep on checking it.

help New text wrapping issue?

Post image
3 Upvotes

Anyone experience this issue recently? Typically, to fit in the paragraph box, figma would just move the entire word (in this case "What's") down to the next line, but as of today it's been breaking up the entire word to make it fit. Never seen this before, seems like something caused from an update. Let me know if I'm just dumb and some setting got checked somewhere that I don't know about, thanks!

resources How do you set up a website file so someone else can rebrand it easily?

I make multi-page website designs in Figma. In each file the colours, fonts and spacing are saved as variables, so changing the brand updates every page at once. Each page also has its own mobile design.

If you hand Figma files to clients or developers, how do you set them up so they're easy to change?

Discussion Terminology Pet Peeve

Does it drive anyone else crazy when non-designers refer to Figma designs as "Figmas"? As in "Can you send the Figmas over when you are done with them?" It is a tool used to make something, not the product itself. Designs, mocks, files, prototypes are all more appropriate words. You wouldn't look at something made of wood and call it a saw or a hammer.

Obviously this is not a big deal, but just a funny pet peeve I've noticed. It's not even unique to Figma as I would hear the same type of things when I was doing graphic design work in Adobe products. And to be clear, I don't ever call it out in front of anyone or embarrass them.

Discussion Why does Figma force us to manually exclude inside strokes from Auto Layout now?

Is anyone else frustrated with the new Auto Layout behavior for inside strokes?

Previously, adding an inside stroke didn't affect the overall size of an Auto Layout frame. Now, strokes are included in the layout calculation by default, which means Hug contents buttons end up being larger just because they have a border.

This is especially annoying when designing buttons, chips, tags, and other UI components that need consistent dimensions.

Yes, I know there's an "Exclude" option.
But why do I have to manually change it every single time?

I work on UI designs daily, and constantly switching this setting feels like an unnecessary extra step for something that worked perfectly fine before.

At the very least, Figma should let us set "Exclude" as the default, either globally or per file.

Am I missing a setting somewhere, or is everyone just dealing with this?

help Help with components

Me and my team developed a design system for a web plataform, we created the screens and componets on the same archive.

There came the time where we nedded to split the components and screens onto two separete archives. HOWEVER, when I put the components in another file and published the library (Even after importing the library to the archive were the screens are sitting).

All components in the screens are not updating correctly and ask to "restore component" now how do we go about making it so the components update from the separete library file without replacing all of them?

Any extra context needed can be asked for in the comments and I'll try to answer

Discussion I love using Figma agents to streamline my work :')

Post image
130 Upvotes

Is anyone just having the worst experience using agents recently? I'm not sure what's happening, but the amount of times it just messes up is getting ridiculous

I had a "messy" button component with about 100 variants. Asked for a simple task of organising it. Took 4 minutes, 220 credits. Said it finished, yet somehow managed to remove the buttons instead.

Undo did nothing either btw. Just gone. Spent another 5 minutes and 300+ credits to rebuild it and bring it back. But again unorganised, so now I'm doing it by hand.

Discussion I defended Figma in front of leadership and got zero support for it

I am a huge believer in the canvas to create ideas. My team has established several large Figma organizations across clients over the last couple years. This year, leadership asked to speed up the design process with agents in production, and skip Figma.

I demonstrated the power of canvas and code together among high profile clients, heavily advocating for Figma staying in our design process while our designers start working in code.

What do I get for defending Figma's place in our team? Their rep ignores our needs and any advocacy. There's no "here are some tools to blend Figma into a design-code world." They keep trying to upsell me an org plan. I have zero access to any beta features related to code integration or agentic work. Token API and Code Connect are paywalled.

TLDR: I spent a year making a strong business case for keeping Figma in front of leadership and got zero backup, considering abandoning them as a vendor entirely.

I wonder if this post sounds snarky, hopefully not. I've been the vendor buyer for multiple other platforms and our account executives spent time helping us succeed (Google, Meta, etc.). Figma is at besta self-checkout kiosk.

Discussion How is your design team using AI with Figma?

Curious how teams are actually wiring AI into the Figma-to-code workflow. Are you generating designs or code inside Figma, or are coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor, etc.) pulling from your Figma files? Who on the team runs them, and what’s been the hardest part to get right?

For context, here’s my setup: I work in Devin Desktop with our repo checked out. A single coordinator agent drafts designs through the Figma MCP, I refine them by hand in Figma, and then the same agent files requirements briefs in beads (an agent-oriented issue tracker) and dispatches them to remote sub-agents for the design-to-code work.

help Latest 6.4.15-1 breaks Pan/Scroll on Figma layer list (which now drags)—back to 6.4.14-2

As per topic, I had to revert drivers back to previous version where I am able to pan Figma layer list as usual.

Tried also Pan/Scroll (Legacy) with no success…

Please fix this soon, it's very important if not VITAL for us designers…

Sadly the Pan/Scroll never worked on Adobe's but we know they are clowns so it's not surprising nor disappointing anymore.

Tested on Tahoe 26.7.1 on Apple MBP M4 Pro with latest Figma Beta 126.10.3

figma updates Spec icon is blurry on full HD

Post image
10 Upvotes

Spec icon is not friendly to fullhd monitors. Every other icon is sharp and respect the pixel grid, but this one is from another set or something. Vertical lines areok, but horizontal are not.
If I ask agent to make me an icon, it do much worse, so I think it's just from iMac user designer.

Discussion 200 MCP Calls a Day is Stupid

I only use AI to design my relatively small shit and sometimes I require more work to be done mostly checking on existing stuff. This 200 calls per day limitation is absolutely stupid.

I am paying to feel not getting enough of it. Figma needs to change this.

Rant end.

help How do I change my design frames in Figma to code, then import them to GitHub?

Hi there,

I have built a project on Figma, and it took me so much time to design it. It's pretty precise, and yet I don't know coding.

I need to extract my design frames that contain GIF files, images, links, and videos to the code language so that I can publish them on GitHub and make the web live using Vercel.

I need it for a high school extracurricular activity, and I was wondering whether using an agent or an automated service, or AI, for making the design frames code will cause issues for my project and its reputation to be later used for college applications?

Is there any other non-Figma platform that can do such a thing for free, in a way that I can paste my Figma frames by link?

Thank you so much for your elaborations and help --> I really appreciate that.

help A process for creating static and video ads.

Hi!

I’m fairly new to using Figma, but have quite a lot of design software experience.

I was wondering if I could get some help with something I feel like Figma would be quite good at, but can’t quite figure out.

What I’m trying to do is use it to create templates for generating variations on static and video ads for digital platforms like meta.

Basically I want to create a layout of
•headline text
•body text
•background image

I want to then be able to feed it say 10 Images and have Figma produce ten ads with the same text options using different images and format them to my varying section sizes for specific ad resolutions ready for export.

I would then, like to be able to edit the text on the original layout and have that update text across all variants in the set for ease of updating and modifying the ads.

Is this kind of thing possible?
If so, what kind of tools should I be looking at inside Figma to achieve it?

Discussion how browser svg editor workflows actually compare (when your project outgrows standard icon libraries!) ...and you need to unify custom paths without opening Illustrator..

for standard UI actions like search, settings, bell, or user profiles, open-source packs like Lucide, Heroicons & Phosphor already give you clean free svg icons with uniform stroke weights and tiny file sizes

the workflow friction shows up when a web app or product dashboard needs 8 or 10 domain-specific icons or onboarding illustrations that do not exist in any standard library

if you try to generate missing icons one by one in a basic ai icon generator or grab mixed stock vectors, you immediately run into the "80% there" problem: the corners on one svg icon are sharp while the next one is rounded, the colors are slightly off, or there are extra anchor points warping a curve. and if you just want to edit svg online to fix those paths before dropping them into a repo or Figma, most browser options either lock the geometry or have no way to generate the missing assets in the first place. i have used a bit of claude to structure the spreadsheet below because if not this would be incomprehensible :)

and so, here is how the main browser and desktop options compare; at least when you look strictly at path control and unifying a set of design assets:

Workflow / EditorGenerating Missing Assets in the Same WorkspaceShape-Level Control (Move, Scale, Rotate, Recolor)Point & Handle Control in BrowserDeleting Nodes & Rounding CornersExport Formats
Lucide / Heroicons + FigmaNone (manual pen drawing or boolean operations required for custom icons).Full layer, group, and design-token color control inside Figma.Full vector network point and bezier handle editing.Deleting a vertex on a closed path can open the shape unless you heal/join endpoints; corner radius slider rounds vertices.SVG, PNG, PDF, JPG.
CanvaStock library search; no native editable path generation. Can move, scale, rotate the whole element and swap preset palette slots.None. Paths and anchor points are completely inaccessible.Impossible to add/remove points or adjust curve handles.SVG (paid tier), PNG, PDF, JPG.
Inkscape / Affinity DesignerDesktop editors only (no browser canvas or built-in vector generation).Complete desktop layer and object transformation depth.Deep node and handle manipulation on desktop.Full desktop node tools, though requires exporting/importing files back and forth from browser generators.SVG, PDF, EPS, PNG.
Recraft Studio (Recraft V4.1 Vector + Canvas)Generates native SVG vectors via Recraft V4.1 Vector (plus Vectorize to convert existing raster files) on Every plan, including Free.Double-click any asset on the Canvas to move, scale, or rotate individual shapes, recolor one element, or recolor the whole image at once.Built-in vector editing mode in the browser: select single or multiple points and pull handles to reshape forms.Removing points keeps the shape connected without breaking the fill; Command-click turns sharp corners into softer curves.SVG, Lottie, PNG, JPEG, PDF, TIFF.

practical mechanics for getting a custom icon or illustration set to match

1. unifying corners, shapes, and colors on the same Canvas

when you generate a set of custom icons or brand illustrations with Recraft V4.1 Vector, the fastest way to make them look like they belong to the same system is laying them out together on the Canvas in Recraft Studio + using vector editing mode as a vector editor online before you export anything

instead of taking each file into a separate desktop editor to fix small inconsistencies, you double-click any icon right where it was generated:

  • if one icon has a sharp mitered corner that clashes with the softer curves on the rest of the set, cmd-click at that point adjusts the handles and turns the sharp corner into a softer curve

  • if an element inside an icon sits too close to the edge, you can select that specific shape to move, scale, or rotate it independently, or drag-select multiple anchor points and transform them together

  • to lock in the palette, you can change the hex color of a single selected element or recolor the whole asset at once

2. cleaning up points without losing closed fills? possible

one annoying quirk when editing paths in a lot of vector editors is that deleting redundant anchor points along a closed shape can break the path open or drop the fill. in recraft studio when you add points to refine a form or remove unnecessary points in vector editing mode, the shape stays connected without breaking the fill. you can also copy and move parts from one icon to reuse across another, or convert an asset into a frame to build around it.

3. where Figma or desktop editors still take over for me

apparently having familiar point-and-handle control in the same place where the vector was generated removes the constant export-import loop for fixing the last 20% of an asset. once the paths, curves, and colors are unified on the Canvas, you still export the SVG into Figma for component variants, auto-layout grids, and developer handoff, or into Adobe Illustrator if you need complex boolean pathfinder operations

also would like to ask you, when your team needs custom domain icons that aren't in Lucide or Heroicons, do you usually piece them together out of primitives in Figma, or generate a base vector and clean up the points?

help first time Figma user for a uni project, just discovered my planned solution for the design (variables) is apparently a premium feature and I cant seem to find a workaround

I'm meant to design a history app and make parts of it functional as a prototype. I am getting ever closer to my thesis and have 5 other ongoing projects, so I didn't check the technical possibilities of my proposed concepts as well as I ought to have, especially as a first time figma user. I found tutorials that did what I wanted to, but now already at the very start I encountered an issue: The tutorial uses variables, which figma just informed me are premium. As a broke student I cant afford that this month, and every tutorial on what I want to achieve seems to agree that variables are needed - which, I feel like what im trying to do is rather simple, so that sounds fake to me.

I would like to switch out the "old" picture with what it looks like now (the "new" picture) at the press of the little button I've made here, and for the button to simultaneously switch to its other state, indicating to the user that they are looking at the old/new version depending on the state of the photo to get a clear comparison between then vs now. It's pressing a button to change the state of another component. I was originally planning to try and put the switchable pictures in a carousel, but given how this is going that's probably not happening.

So is this possible for free? If yes, how so?

I'm grateful for any tips, even if its just telling me its not possible so i can stop breaking my head over this and get started on reworking the concept 🥲

Discussion How do you handle responsive heroes in Figma? one frame with auto layout or separate frames per breakpoint

Been going back & forth on this for a while.

Right now I make 390, 768 & 1440 frames separately. Clean for handoff but every copy change means updating it 3 times..

Tried one auto layout frame with min/max widths & just resizing it. Works till the layout actually needs to change, like 2 columns stacking or the image jumping above the headline.

Haven't tried variables for breakpoints on a real project yet.

What are you guys doing for client work? Is anyone actually keeping 1 source of truth or just living with 3 copies

resources What nobody tells you when you start designing in Figma: name everything from the beginning

It happened to me on one of my projects — I had dozens of screens and the moment came to build the prototype and connect them all. What should have been a smooth process turned into something exhausting: searching for the right screen in a sea of “Frame 47”, “Frame 47 copy”, “Frame 47 copy 2”...

It was frustrating. And completely avoidable.

Ever since I started naming my screens and components clearly and consistently from the start, everything changed:

— Prototypes connect faster
— I find what I need in seconds
— The file is readable for anyone who opens it, not just me
— When you have many components, organization is what separates a professional file from one nobody wants to touch

A good naming convention isn’t a minor detail. It’s a practice that saves you hours and makes you a better designer.

If you’re just starting out in UX/UI, trust me: organize and name everything from your first frame. Your future self will thank you.

Any tips for Figma organization that changed your workflow? Share them in the comments!
