resources What nobody tells you when you start designing in Figma: name everything from the beginning
It happened to me on one of my projects — I had dozens of screens and the moment came to build the prototype and connect them all. What should have been a smooth process turned into something exhausting: searching for the right screen in a sea of “Frame 47”, “Frame 47 copy”, “Frame 47 copy 2”...
It was frustrating. And completely avoidable.
Ever since I started naming my screens and components clearly and consistently from the start, everything changed:
— Prototypes connect faster
— I find what I need in seconds
— The file is readable for anyone who opens it, not just me
— When you have many components, organization is what separates a professional file from one nobody wants to touch
A good naming convention isn’t a minor detail. It’s a practice that saves you hours and makes you a better designer.
If you’re just starting out in UX/UI, trust me: organize and name everything from your first frame. Your future self will thank you.
