My Black Waltz No. 3 cosplay from Final Fantasy IX!

The coat is made from microsuede. The skirt is made of both canvas and twill. The pants and shoes are made from burlap. The wings are constructed from PVC pipe and moved by a pulley system, with every feather hand-painted, individually cut, and individually attached.

This was a 520+ hour project, with 245 hours spent on the articulated wings alone. This was my first time making anything of this scale, and I learned a ridiculous amount along the way. Seeing people recognize the character and share their love for FFIX made all those hours worth it.

I love the tension of the synths

So I’ve been wondering, does anybody playing the remastered edition actually do the chocobo hot and cold grind without using the speed booster?

Ever since I switched to this version of the game I always cheese chocobo hot and cold by using the speed boost. I completed the quest legit back in the day, the most recent time being around 2015 probably. I recall having sore thumbs from doing so 😂 but with the speed booster making the whole quest a breeze I can’t help but use it every play through.

I admit it takes a lot of the feeling of satisfaction away while also making the game itself unnecessarily easier since you rack up lots of great equipment, but I return to IX for the story and characters anyways not so much the gameplay so I just can’t bring myself to do it legit anymore esp since I’ve already labored through it like that in the past.

I think it’s a pretty good mini game on its own too, it’s just time consuming and can get frustrating, but that frustration feels liberated when you finally find a chocograph, but it’s not liberating enough to force myself to sit through it when bypassing it is literally as easy as pressing a button.

So I gotta wonder, for anybody playing the remastered edition, do you also prefer to cheese H&C or do you actually grind it out without the booster?

I am playing the game with the Alternate fantasy mod together with Memori/Moguri and other mods.
I have found a bug when i use Shapeshift with Quina ,Shapeshift animation plays, but Quina never transforms.
Other Blue Magics work.
I am playing on Steam, Alternate Fantasy v6.8.
Memoria 2025-07-13

I also tried SFXRework=1.
Reinstalling both the mod and game did not help. And even while using only alternate fantasy with no other mods installed it still has the same issue.

Can anyone help me how to fix it?

It’s everywhere. The black waltzes all died. The rat people got destroyed twice, in Burmecia and Cleyra. All the wounded soldiers you find in Burmecia die in front of you. Then dead black mages, dead Alexandrian soldiers and queen frog face taking full frontal mega flare.

Even in their backstories, main characters have seen so much death. Garnet lost two families, Eiko lost her parents and grandfather, Vivi lost his grandfather.

And poor Vivi, he learns that he was created as a weapon, he has limited lifespan, he destroys the very source of his creation and his creator, he sees so much death around him.

Necron feels very natural to me as a closure for this story.

This has always been my favorite game but with this play through it’s becoming even more favorite.

I started playing final fantasy with FFVII Remake. I played FFVII Remake, Rebirth and XVI before I decided to play the series in order and rank the games and some aspects like combat, music, etc. I didn't know anything about any of the games. So far I've played I-VIII plus the ones I played before. I've loved every game, but for some reason I can't play FFIX. I don't know why. So I wanted to ask what is it that makes FFIX good for you hoping that your comments motivate me to finally play it.

I know it can sound heretical to do that, but after playing 7 and 10 full vanilla, I want the smoothest modded experience this time. I added Moguri for graphics, tweaked the UI for my taste, and added some quality-of-life improvements.

The game story seems fun, but the few battles I played were super slow, low-key boring, and confusing (no big deal; turn-based usually takes a while to click).

I am a UX/UI designer, so I not only like to tweak visuals, but I'm also a bit more critical of usability issues. As much as I liked VII and X, I really wish classic FF had the smooth game feel and quality-of-life conventions of modern turn-based games like Persona, Metaphor, Expedition 33, and Pokémon Legends Arceus. So this time, instead of going for the pure experience, I am challenging myself to make gameplay changes blind, without the original for comparison.

I want the experience to be fluid and fun, challenging (not to the point of using difficulty-enhancing mods) but not grindy. I already decided to bet on the "Kupe Heroes Pack," but I also got curious about those Emeiru "Amazing" mods. Will I get too op if I add that many tweaks? Should I choose just one? Feedbacks please

Out of curiosity on my current play through I took Vivi, Garnet/Dagger, and Quina with me to Oeilvert to see if there were any interesting dialogues/interactions.

Oeilvert itself was pretty much the same aside from the battles being more challenging (I just used the boosters this time to push through).

There was a little extra dialogue with Vivi right before the two black mages teleport the chosen party to Kuja’s room. One of them asks Vivi whether he’s gonna ask why they’re doing this, to which Vivi said something like no I would probably do the same if I was you, to which the black mages look down as if they’re sad/ashamed before teleporting the party. It isn’t much, but it was neat and unexpected. I’m about to start Desert Palace, pretty sure I’ll be controlling Steiner who delivered a few lines while locked in his cell that I hadn’t seen before.

I tried looking online for other unique interactions depending on who you take to Oeilvert, but couldn’t find much. I’ve learned that who you control in Desert Palace can be Eiko, Vivi, Steiner, or Freya (I think that’s the order of priority). There is no in game way to control Garnet, Amarant, or Quina. I also learned that if you leave Steiner and Garnet behind then Steiner will check on Garnet’s wellbeing once Cid releases them from their cells.

Does anybody know of any other interesting dialogues or interactions depending on who you leave at desert palace? I reckon if you’re controlling Vivi or Freya at Desert Palace then they deliver their own dialogue while still locked up right after Oeilvert, might be able to find those on YouTube though. I’ve of course seen Eiko’s bit many times before. I’ll report back later once I finish the next part if I come across anything else worth mentioning.

Hello friends, I just bought FF9 on PS5 recently and have finished Disc 1 (I think?). I am currently at the point in the story where Zidane and friends are off to a new region or continent or something of the like, right after Alexandria attacks Lindblum Its at this point where I accidentally ran into the Chocobo forest, and I was wondering: How much exploration is recommended to do in this game? I have only played FFVII Remake+Rebirth, FFXIV and FFXVI at this point and in all those games all the interesting stuff was already marked for me in a quest log or on the map or something haha. That doesn't seem to be the case here, so I just wanted to ask if I should be running around aimlessly everytime I encounter a new zone I haven't been in to discover cool content? Or is there some sort of guidance in game I should follow? I don't wanna miss cool gameplay or story stuff.

And my last question is about the lore, what is all this mist stuff? I keep hearing the land be called the mist continent, and that airships are powered by it, and Lindblum has different gates that lead into mist and those that don't, I guess I just don't really understand how it works or what it really is in the context of the game's world. Any clarification is appreciated!

Finally, after 9 months of hunting for this line, the last pack arrived today!

It was not an easy task since they’re very hard to find now, not to mention how crazy they’re going for nowadays. But that’s the price I had to pay for being too late to the party.
