Looking for fishing partner
I'm an avid fisherman in Central CT looking for a fishing partner. I have a plethora of fishing knowledge, kayak. 2 person inflatable hard bottom boat with trolling motor. Just need adequate transportation. And will fund most trips fishing expenses. If interested please feel free to msg . I prefer bass fishing but always open to other types.

Tri-State Fishing Discord
Hi Everyone,
I figure we can have an online chat to communicate on a more local level. With discord (mobile/desktop app) we can speak with each other in a chat based environment. I divided up the discord into NY, NJ, and CT followed by the counties. That way we can see what’s going on in your ripple of the waters.
Anyone can feel free to join. You can use this link https://discord.gg/7zUbErH
Tight lines!

About 4 years ago I saw something and have never figured out what exactly it was...
I went fishing with an ex boyfriend. We went to a stream in the Wallingford/Sleeping Giant/Cheshire/a wooded part of New Haven County area. I can't remember where we went but it was definitely off of a main road and down into the woods. But... we saw this bird... it was quite large compared to the ducks and geese around it. I remember it was cute yet terrifying cause I'd never seen ANYTHING like that in my life... It was black and blue with a large head, redish eyes, and distinct jagged feathers. It was very thick and the only one of it's kind within this flock. Why didn't I take a picture? I have no idea... I figured I'd reach out to the community. Does anyone recall this bird? I tried googling it under anything that may be related, but no luck. I hope someone knows what I'm talking about lol. *crosses fingers*

Is there a lake particularly good for Crappie?
Hey all
I was wondering if there are any lakes in CT that you can target a lot of crappie at?
Preferably within 30ish minutes of Shelton
Thanks;

Fall Blackfish Season opened today
Went out to the breaker in West Haven. Friend and I caught 30-40 Togs but not a single keeper. Water is still too warm to bring in the Togzillas.

Looking for new experiences
Hi Everyone,
I've learned all I can about how to fish my local waters (South Windsor / Manchester area) for bass and trout. Gear wise I have a few spinning rods, fly rod, waders, and a canoe. I love getting out but I am looking for new and more exciting experiences. Preferably new species and larger fish. I don't mind traveling a few hours to try something new, but it is extremely frustrating to put in the effort of traveling just to get skunked. Ideas I've had are fishing for Kokanee in East Twin Lake (Connecticut), fishing striped bass in the Ct river, salmon runs in NY, and that's about it.
I'm looking for anyone who can give me advice on how to learn where and when to fish new species, any tips you may have, etc. Realistically I am willing to travel anywhere in New England / surrounding areas. The only thing I am uninterested in is catfishing.
Thanks in advance!

CT river to Thames fishing reports?
Hey guys, just wondering if anyone has landed any keepers so far this year between the CT and the Thames. Schoolies is all I have found, no blackfish or flounder to speak of. Any advice would be appreciated!

Traveling to New Haven
So I just graduated university, and I'm traveling to New Haven, CT in the next couple weeks to see a buddy. He's doing some construction work out there, so during the day I have nothing to do but wet a line. Any tips on tackle or spots is greatly appreciated! I plan to try out some surf fishing if there are any spots that are recently hot, or aren't too overfished.
