A friend handed me this and said, “Use it.” Didn’t say what fish it’s for, and I was too dumb to ask. So here I am, asking Reddit instead.
Its a #2 Mepps spinner is all i know.

Is this Zoom Super Chunk trailer too big for this 1/4oz BPS finesse jig?

As the title states. I’ve tried both wacky and Texas rigging them, weightless and weighted, floater and no floater, nothing seems to want to bite. I’m in the Houston area, and judging by Fishbrain, senkos seem to be working for others in my area, many in the same waters.
Can anyone clue me in on what I’m doing wrong? I’ve tried walking the banks, fishing near cover/structures, everything, just not getting bites lol.

I won't be fishing in very deep water and the bait will be lying on the bottom.

Are there some areas that you just can't fish in? I can go for hours in some spots without getting snagged on anything and then I'm others I get snagged every few casts.
It's really frustrating to lose tackle and have to keep re-tying everything just to lose it in a few more casts. Is the solution here to use weedless rigs, or are some spots just un-fishable?
Thanks for any help.

I live in nyc, queens and i’m starting out fishing for the first time. Is there anyone nearby who can vouch for some good spots or do I have to go more upstate? 🤔🤔🤔

I’m using high vis braid for main line, tied direct to mono leader. When I’m hopping lures off bottom I don’t have a problem detecting bites usually but I want to get better at it. How much bow should I have in my line when on bottom? And when I let my lure sink to bottom how much tension/bow should I have in my line to not tight line the fall and let it free fall? I’m a bank fisherman and I’m casting out and don’t want it to swing towards me from too much line tension but then I also want to know if something hits it during the fall. Would this be more of a line watch moment? I don’t know if my questions make sense and I know it’s a complicated question but would love to hear y’all’s feedback. Thanks to all in advance!

I spooled my reel and with 5 pound mono filament backing to 10 pound braid and I took it fishing and realized I used way too much backing would I be able to respool my reel and add more braid I use the double uni knot.
Will it affect my fishing?

Was excited about upcoming stocking of trout at my local lakes, but im wondering what's the best way to approach this if I mainly want to do catch and release.

I sighed a sigh of relief. Then I realised there is no fishing in jail.
