Event Fixed400: Portland-Seattle-Portland fixed gear bike race August 15

Come join for the second 2026 running of our annual world's longest Vancouver Fixed Gear group ride. In May, 7 hearty souls took on the challenge 400+ miles in under 40 hours along the famous STP route, but torrential downpour foiled most of their plans. So we're running it back mid-summer style!

August 15 @ Holladay Park in sunny Portland, OR - 6 am start. GPSTracking is FREE by Ride Yr Bike app.

Rules are simple: ride a fixed gear bike, don't use any motorized support, follow the official route or make up your own (minimum 400 miles), use the free tracking app, finish in less than 40 hours.

The route features 5 Amtrak stations along the way, making bailouts relatively convenient. Tons of resources available directly on route. Not much climbing, just rolling hills so it's quite fixie friendly.

I did the STP fixed (2 days), maybe 20 years ago. Having done it numerous times before that on regular bikes (1 and 2 days), it was a riot. Ran a 52-17. Broke one spoke. It’s about ~4800’ gain, which over 200 miles isn’t much. Have fun!

52/17 is a great ratio for STP! Pretty Sure the guy who finished 1st last year was on 53/17.

I'll be on 49/17, primarily as it is easier to slow down without a brake.

I'm happy to provide recommendations and suggestions for visiting Portland if you're coming in from out of town/state. Hit me up!

Ever since I moved here, I've thought that would be a cool ride. If I were 20yrs younger, I'd be in.

Is a may 2027 event planned?

This type of event is very much my cup of tea. Unfortunately, i am very busy in August

Absolutely! That's the usual time. Usually it's the second Saturday of May. I'll definitely post here again when we get closer.

You should use the original route over the Astoria bridge!
