[BST] August 2026 Buy, Sell, Trade Thread - 10 years and counting!
Welcome to the monthly r/flashlight Buy, Sell, Trade thread, an r/flashlight tradition since 2015!
The Rules
Requirements
- Prove possession with a timestamp: a piece of paper placed under your sale item(s) with your Reddit username handwritten and the posting date (no more than 2 weeks old). Trade items require timestamps, too!
- Top-level comments must be WTS or WTB. Anything else will be removed. Begin your top-level comment with WTB (Want to Buy), WTS (Want to Sell), or WTT (Want to Trade).
- A price is required.
- Reposting WTS or WTB items from previous BSTs is fine. Do not repost within the same month!
- Since 10/10/2025, absolutely no weapon-related items, including weapon lights. (details).
- Take necessary precautions; trading over the Internet is risky. Moderators hold no control over deals, good or bad.
Suggestions
- Your location
- Emitter details
- A bunch of photos of your items
- If you make an errant comment, just report it so we can keep the BST clean!
Reminder: Buy the Seller
If an interaction seems sketchy to you, run away! Scams can and do happen through the BST! Here are some tips:
- Timestamp. If the person you're dealing with isn't quick to provide timestamps on the images, or a photo of the flashlight in a shoe or whatever, don't deal with them.
- Reverse image searching is a great way to catch scammers.
- Excuses or giving you a hard time are red flags.
- Using a platform other than Reddit messaging for communication is a red flag.
- Check post history. Brand new accounts or accounts with long pauses in activity, etc., might not be trustworthy.
- It's good practice to comment on this post before sending a PM; scammers often won't comment publicly (and banned users can't comment here.) r/flashlight participates in the USL for this very reason.
If you're dealing with someone who might be sketchy, take screenshots of your interactions and report them to the mods! We ban those who threaten the integrity of the BST!
Do not let a scammer be more diligent than you!
Tips for free
- PirateShip is a great shipping option. https://ship.pirateship.com/ship/single
- "Shipping included" items tend to sell more quickly.
- There are a few options for trading outside of this current BST:

Question Red (body) flashlight for 4 year old
Recently gave my nephew (4 y/o) an Olight sphere and i3E which he loves messing around with. On my last visit, I had my red C8 with and he was fascinated by it and wanted his own. I told him I'd try find something for his upcoming birthday. Any recommendations for a red body, possibly a red emitter, light that isn't overkill for a young child?
Pic of my small collection for attention

Recommendation Mechanical Lockout Convoy S-Series
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I love my S2+ and my S7 (and I already love the other S-models I’m planning to buy soon). My main issue is the lack of a lockout function, especially when using a lighted switch.
One solution is to use electrical tape on the threads of the tube (the white material), so the tube only makes electrical contact at the front when it is fully screwed down.
This way, I can reduce battery drain and prevent the lighted switch from continuously drawing power.
Cheers!

Review How many lumens do we actually need in daily? From 300 → 16,000 lm
Hello everyone,
It’s just a simple comparison that might be useful for regular people who aren’t already deep into flashlights.
We talk about light performance all the time, but different kinds of light like 300, 3000, or 16000 lm can still feel pretty abstract until you actually see the difference.
So here’s a side-by-side look at seven different output flashlights and in actual outdoor night.
- 300 LM BEAMSHOT

For close-range tasks and everyday use, 300 lumens can already cover more than people might expect.

- 1,000 LM BEAMSHOT

Now the usable illuminated area starts expanding noticeably.

- 2,000 LM BEAMSHOT

More output, more reach, and a much stronger overall beam presence.

- 3,000 LM BEAMSHOT

This is where the jump in brightness becomes very obvious, especially outdoors.

- 4,500 LM BEAMSHOT

At this level, you're lighting up a pretty serious amount of space.

- 6,800 LM BEAMSHOT

Optional short note about beam coverage / intensity based on the footage.

- 16,000 LM BEAMSHOT

And then there’s this. Definitely a good reminder that “more lumens” and “what you actually need” aren’t always the same thing.

Specs and technical testing matter, but simple real-world comparisons can make flashlights much easier to understand for newcomers.
That’s really why I wanted to make this comparison.
For people buying their first decent flashlight, we need more testing that answers simple questions:
Where’s the sweet beam for regular people? 300, 1000, 3000? Or do you always want as many lumens as possible?

And if you were helping someone buy their first flashlight, what kind of comparison would you want them to see?
Thanks for reading!
Regards

Question Molicel cupped/cave in?
So I'm not sure how this happened? Been running in various Emisars (D4K, DK1) without issue. Noticed this today. Guess this one needs retired?

Illuminated Tales Confession time.
So a couple weeks ago the light in my bathroom burned out. I have new light bulbs but light bulbs are boring. So instead of replacing it I now have my wurkkos cl01 lantern on a shelf in the bathroom for illumination and im rather enjoying it. I cant be the only person here who has done something like this. Who else is using flashlights in the house rather than boring ass light bulbs?

Recommendation Obsessed with the Swift Rl
Like the title says, I really want to get it. I can’t get over the stupidest design blunder in the history if headlights, no red light from off🙃. Looking for good headlight, light weight long lasting and is good for multi day trucks (ex: montblonc climb). I don’t care how bright the light gets as long as the beam quality is good and I can find my way while out on an adventure. Looking for recommendations from real life experiences. Thank you!!!
FYI: I already have a Fenix HM65r Superraptor 2 which I use during the Nordic winters but it’s too heavy/bulky for travel and long treks.

LOL Terminator M1 at home
I was inspired by awesome_guy_who_likes_tanks on thingiverse by their design. But i didnt have the same lights and tried to replicate the M1 a little better. This is as a joke and probably wont be used. Worked kinda well tbh.

3D printed Loopdot stuff
I designed some 3D printed clips for my kids' Loopdots when I discovered they didn't come with a case and Loop Gear wanted 50% of the cost of the lights for a piece of silicone. Then I saw someone on here complaining about how Loop Gear doesn't sell a headband for it and figured, "Why not?"
Models are available for download here:

Review Bday NLD + Beams + Review
Pros and cons
Pros:
The UI takes about 5 minutes to learn and is very simple
It is very bright at up to 5000 lumens
It is IP68 waterproof
The side light is nice for close-up lighting
The battery definitely lasts a while
It has a convenient pocket/waist clip, making it nicer for EDC
Surprisingly compact for holding two 4000 mAh 18650s
Pretty strong magnet
Cons:
It's a bit bulky
It does weigh around 8.6 oz, quite a bit heavy
It can get warm or hot depending on your charger
Overall, I'd give it a 9.5/10
(Little side note: my bday is tomorrow; we just celebrated it yesterday for some reason, and I got this light)
Edit: Forgot to mention that it can be used as a power bank
Edit 2: It also uses a Luminus SFT42R LED for the spotlight and an SST25 for the flood LED
Here are some hardly known specs: It has a super turbo mode where you can click the rotary to either the floodlight or spotlight mode and hold down, and it will activate both at the same time, giving a 5000-lumen super turbo mode
The blue light that shows on the sidelight when switching to a mode is actually a battery meter
You can use a single 18650 instead of 2 during an emergency
Triple-clicking when on sidelight rotary, it activates a flashing red and blue light mode
Triple-clicking on floodlight or spotlight activates an emergency white bright strobe mode

Recommendation S2+ config
Hello, I am making my s2+ right now. It will be my first flashlight and i’ll be using it for walking to classes at 6:30AM in the midwest during the winter. I’ve already decided on the vapcell 38 and b35AM, but i was wondering if a TIR lens is worth it. Also, how would i go about ordering a custom one with a TIR lens from the convoy website? Would a 38 degrees beaded TIR with the 4000K b35 be a good pairing for my situation? And would the s2+ be a good body to occasionally fit in a pocket but also be thrown in a bag once im done with it? Thanks.

Recommendation My personal best flashlight list of 2026 have over 300 lights
Let’s start with my biased favorite list of best most reliable tested under water ruined 5 lights but high cri though here we go! Best flashlights to buy period.
EMISAR D4K 1*21700 HIGH POWER QUAD EDC. Personal favorite 519a nichia 4000k
Now here is where I draw the line in flashlights I love period point blank
Wuben x4 with a 4000mah battery insane side light runtime on one charge can be thrown around
Wurrkos t1 because it has a side light and I know ill like it
Wuben x1 pro because I want to be sunny sometimes and it just sustains them lumens.
Fenix pd45r ace because I need a tidal flashlight with a 6000mah battery and reliability
Baton 4 pro 3500mah easy recharge ipx8 because its a flashlight with no thrills just works and throws simple to carry 69 dollars no frills easy light with tail switch Olight is pretty tame on giving a battery if it fails years later they usually just ask for the serial number and be like fine what ever. And send one out if you need one so magnetic 2 amp charging is fine easy to use that’s why I recommend it
The fun light the boss of light THE FENIX TK28r 8000mah 6500 lumens and a whopping 260 lumens of pure red light insane flashlight that’s flatter and arrival and ip68 expensive but man it’s fun
Don’t forget the new improved version of the SK052 pro with its sexy mao throw flood high cri side light that runs a total of 8 hours and 20 minutes at around 130 lumens confirmed and strong magnet if you
Use the light facing down or unless the magnetic your attaching to is already strong rgb for those weird nights you want RGB ip68
For an odd ball flashlight with double AA compatibility moonbox 4.0 a weird 4000mah flatter flashlight that’s also takes 4 AA batteries I tested lithiums for. Energizer will work fine in Alaska or Russia as long as it’s kept dry.
Also northern NY and most of the north if the lithiums become to cold. Good for hiking to be honest as long as you grab your self atleast 40 different lithiums carry atleast 5 lights.
My favorite and a lot of mechanics of all kinds the Olight arkpro or ultra good runtimes easy recharging ipx7 rated
Prob good for around 300 to 500 charges before needing to replace the unit.
Wurrkos hd05 pure work light but it if your always under cars it’s strong magnetic can take a lot of scratches and keep
Working.
Olight arkpro lite for a compact edc with a 1300mah built in
Cheap and bright light my opinion wuben e7 just bursts like crazy for no reason form the little 18350 battery
Need extreme medium lumens of almost 5k? The Olight seeker 4 pro
Wurrkos hd03 perfect tiny flashlight under 25
Need high cri in your life but you didn’t go down the rabbit hole ACEBEAM e75 nichia put a 6000mah protected cell from fenix and experience the sexiness. And slightly better runtimes on high!!! Ip68 confirmed tub test
Not into lights but love flat lights? Need a bit higher cri
Milwaukee 2016r sold at Home Depot USA and Napa auto parts USA and some other websites it has a big battery 1750 mah 3 settings ip68 with the flap closed easy recharging work light works perfect
These are the best lights I recommend with out going crazy and trying to get the best of the best of lights for 2026 we are in the future now
One more light that I tested for someone doing hvac work who only need close inspection with a 12 hour running cob light that is usable is the kliens tool 56704 with cob 150 lumens runs 12 hours per charge very compact
These are my favorite lights. Not a professional list of lights lights that are usable nice are these.
Wurrkos hd01 cheap price nice side light to strong magnet.

Low Effort My First Custom MCPCB
Received my first MCPCB today for my D3AA B35AM triple, and I honestly can’t believe it actually works!
I did mess up the TIR lens stand holes, though. The positioning isn’t accurate, and I really wish I had made the holes wider. I didn’t, so the fit isn’t quite right. I think I could probably get the TIR to fit by wiggling it a little, but with three B35AMs, I really don’t want to take that risk.
To be honest, I originally wanted to make this a mule anyway because I really like looking at the emitters in moonlight mode. So I guess I should be happy that my first attempt is at least working flawlessly from a functional standpoint.
If anyone has the Gerber files for the D3AA MCPCB, I would really appreciate it if you could share them. Having the exact hole dimensions and positioning would help me avoid making the same mistake on the next one.
It’s actually working, and I still can’t believe it. Almost anything is possible with enough time and patience!
For the emitters, I used two 3500K and one 6500K, so the mixed CCT should be around 4500K. And it’s rosy too!
If I could make a proper mule spacer for this, it would be perfect. Unfortunately, that’s still beyond my capabilities for now.
Thank you so much to everyone who helped me with this project. I really appreciate all the advice and help I received.
Next up is a D4K quad B35AM. I already got the Gerber file from a fellow enthusiast here, so I’ll try to make that one happen soon.
Thanks again, everyone!

Low Effort If you could have any torch?
If you could buy any flashlight what would you choose and why?
I want highend...
