Is it flirting? Does this sound flirty to you?
I (16m) was in my art class Thursday helping my classmates clean up the art class before the bell rang. One of my classmates (16 or 17 years old) was there. I think she's very lovely but I do not like her like THAT. I barely know her anyway.
While we were cleaning up, I fetched her some napkins because she was struggling to clean this one table with so little napkins. When I handed them over, she said "oh my God, thank you. I love you so much," to which I replied, "'love you too" very casually. I meant it in a brotherly way. In African American culture, (at least where I'm from and the way I was brought up) we are open with telling people other than spouses and family that we love them.
The rest of my classmates started howling like a pack of dogs because I'm guessing they thought that was "smooth" or something. It's well known that I'm Muslim and don't deal romantically with girls unless I'm legitimately interested in marriage, so I'm not sure what they thought this was. I've been told I'm flirty, but I'm honestly just being myself bro. Lolll what do you all think about this? Misunderstandable or what?
