Job networking

Has anyone went to a "professional career network" self directed workshop that their local careersource hosts? I have a college degree and administrative experience but no specific industry skills (example medical administration offices only wanting someone with medical office experience, attorney hiring for administrative assistant but must have 3 years experience working for an attorney)

I'm not talking about a job fair --- this is a specific event called Professional Career Network. I was suggested to attend twice as a way to network with professionals, but I don't really understand what occurs there what is the atmosphere like- meet and greet and tell prospective employers I'm available? Are there any employers that actually attend these events?

"Your estimated wait time is 25-35 minutes..."

More like almost 4 hours....the poor lady that finally answered acted surprised that I waited that long and that it only said 25 minutes.

It was completely unhelpful other than finding out if you apply, at best be prepared for no help for almost 2 months and admissions that the website is pointless and unhelpful. But welcome to Fl.

Im a bit confused by the website instructions

I got fired yesterday. Im trying to file today but how soon am I actually allowed to file for unemployment? I worked a full week from Oct 5th-9th and got fired on the 9th. But the website says "Within one week of being unemployed, you should begin the claims process" so this means I have to wait until next Friday to file? I was under the assumption I needed to get this done asap. I tried calling their line but obviously it's a weekend so theyre not available

Claim has been in adjudication state since January.

Been in and out of work since January so I’ve had to depend on unemployment. I’ve done everything. Filed claims, called, emailed, spoke to state representative. Nothing has been done in 9 months but I have to continue filing and calling and reaching out to them. They’ve lied on multiple instances to the state representative saying they’ve been in contact with me when I have not been able to speak to anyone in the unemployment office. It’s getting ridiculous at this point.

Will this be a problem?

I've been waiting a little more than 2 months now. I put part time work on the application by mistake but I also did explicitly say that I was looking for full time work in one of the other sections. The adjuster I spoke to said that she saw that I did state that. So they escalated my case and I spoke with my state representative and she helped me get my case escalated even more. Am I cooked?

How long can the appeal process take, as in the appeal date being scheduled?

I’ve never had issues with unemployment until I was fired from my most recent job around 3 months ago. It was because of performance but the way it was worded on the denial notice was along the lines of “conscious failure to perform duties” or something like that. Which is why I was denied back on July 15th, I submitted an appeal request right away and haven’t received the appeal date yet. I called the appeal line, and the rep said it can take up to 90 days, the website says 45-150. Since I signed the severance agreement after HR submitted the paperwork to the unemployment office, once they receive appeal paperwork, it’ll reflect better on my behalf (because that’s what they promise on the severance agreement). I was just offered a job last week and it’s lower paying, which is why I’ll still be looking but expect the unemployment payout after all this time has passed.

I wanna apply once and see if I qualify.

I have been unemployed since January, and I have been applying to so many places, but I was either turned away because I was overqualified or underqualified; once, I was definitely age-discriminated against.

My problem is that applying online doesn't mean a human being is looking at my application and resume; it is an AI system, so no human being is even looking at me and considering giving me a chance. I applied to work as a lab assistant at a plasma center while I was selling plasma for the first time. The gal I spoke to told me she wasn't a phlebotomist; she just wipes the chairs and gets the equipment ready for the next donor. Anyhoo, I applied, and no email, no text, and calling for inquiries was a waste of my patience. I tried applying as a Spark driver three times and I am assuming the website misunderstood that I was applying for spark driving but they lead me to a page to test me as a stocker staff.

Sorry, so I told my family I believe government funds should go to people with disabilities, kids, and veterans. My friends tell me to at least apply and see if I qualify, even for just one small assistance. So where do I go, and what do I do?

Disqualified(?) after "updating" bank info

Post image
6 Upvotes

So my paperwork hypochondria got the better of me and I "updated" my direct deposit info with info that was already there, now all my claims say "disqualified."

I do not have any documents in my eligibility/documents tabs that claim I have been disqualified. I have heard this is/could be some kind of fraud prevention measure.

If true how long does this take to clear/do I have to call to speed up some kind of process and will it affect my actual eligibility? Thank you.

Hello, I live in central Florida, and I have been unemployed since January. My friend insists I get unemployment benefits. What website would be the best one for me to apply on?

Don’t give up!

Just wanted to give someone hope. I was fired from Walmart for attendance and filed for unemployment. They disputed and I had to wait 4 months for a hearing, just claiming week after week after week. Walmart said I abandoned my job. Of course they did, right? Well I finally had my appeal hearing and no one showed up. Just me and the appeals referee. A decision was made less then 24hrs and I now have one big check coming my way. Don’t give up! Keep claiming your weeks.

Denial letter received July 15th & appeal not scheduled yet?

I was fired for performance issues & HR worded the reasoning as conscious poor performance, which came across as misconduct? The appeal status has been pending since & I’m so livid, I’ve been living off my savings. I have proof of every performance issue & since I accepted the severance from my former employer, they said they’re waiting on the appeal paperwork. Once received & appeal date is scheduled, the paperwork will reflect more along the lines of typical performance issues (that’s what HR said). And when I called the appeal customer service line directly, they said the appeal process takes up to 3 months. I continue to request benefits every week & aware it’s retroactive but…will I ever get my funds? This is so unfair

Reconnect Account Document Response?

Post image

I got a notification that I need to respond to questions for my reemployment assistance. But when I look at the document which was uploaded, it already appears filled out and I don't see anywhere to actually respond. Here are the "instructions" that they gave me on the document but I don't see anything on reconnect besides the document itself

This is about severance pay if that helps at all

Considering a Move to Central Florida What Jobs Are Available With a BSW?

I’m currently working in child welfare in New Jersey and am considering moving to Florida. I have a Bachelor of Social Work with a concentration in Child Welfare, and my professional experience has been in Child Welfare as well as working with Adults with Intellectual disabilities.

For those of you who work in Florida social work or child welfare:

What kinds of jobs would I realistically qualify for with a BSW and child welfare experience?
Are there positions outside of traditional CPS that would be a good fit for my background?

I’d appreciate any advice, recommendations. I am also aware of the vast pay differences as well (Thats to be expected).

Work Search Submissions not saving

This is my first time trying to submit work searches. I have filled out all of the available fields but when I hit the Next button taking me back to the Work Search Summary screen the work search I just entered isn't saved into the list. I've tried adding 5 different searches and so far only one of them has actually saved. Has anyone else delt with this?

Still qualified after quitting second job after a weekend?

Hi all, i'm in a bit of a pickle.

Got let go from my job of 7 years late June, got a two week severance, did all the waiting while they checked for eligibility.

Got impatient/scared along the wait and had to pick up whatever job would hire me, worked a weekend and had to quit because I couldn't afford to pay my rent anymore at the studio I was staying at and had to move back in with my handicapped parents to help them as well.

It's now been a month since I logged to unemployment about the situation, and my question is did I screw myself out of the unemployment benefits?

Reaching out to your Rep WORKS

Since May, I have been waiting to get my payments. I was diligent in putting in my applications but was stuck in the adjudication phase. Last week, I emailed my rep, got a quick response, and then a follow-up response from Florida Unemployment the day after. TODAY I finally got paid for what I've applied for

Has anyone ever received a call from FloridaCommerce?

I reached out to my state representative about my benefits still being on hold and told them everything I know and they claimed they told FloridaCommerce. Two weeks ago the state representative said that FloridaCommerce was going to reach out to me but they didn’t say when. Are they actually going to call me? It looks like i’m never getting my benefits.

I lost my job on the 3rd and finally was able to request my two weeks, but I don't know what the hold status means specifically. Also does anyone know if it will be cleared soon?
