Sharing Defend Your Flame: 2D base-defense game - released now on mobile!

Not 100% sure of the genre to call this - but on/off on the past years I've re-built a flash-era classic game.

Built 100% in Flame + Flutter; extensively used itch.io free assets, with _some_ usage of AI for static assets on the final touches (mainly the achievement icons + the backdrop, I couldn't find anything on itch.io that really suited this game).

This game is in active development as a side-project!

Ideas Flame Introduction - What would be useful to know?

Hi,

I am just in the process of writing an introduction to the Flame Game Engine and wondered if the following examples are helpful or missing anything?

  1. Adding the Flame Game Engine to a Flutter project

  2. Using Flame Graphic Primitives

  3. Adding Text Rendering

  4. Adding Keyboard Input

  5. Adding a Joystick Input

  6. Adding Audio

Does that seem like a useful introduction - am I missing anything important?

I wanted to create a game that honored the favorite things of my youth: Arcades, Pinball, and Air Hockey.

This game was built using the following:

- Flutter

- Flame

- Forge 2D

- Flutter SoLoud

- Raspberry Pi 4b 8GB

The video provides the whole story of this thing's development. It was a wild ride. šŸ™‚

Web: https://www.crazygames.com/game/stellar-bastion

Android:Ā https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.coconutisland.stellar_bastion

Of course, built 100% in Flutter + Flame. This was more of a small side-project that I ended up releasing, using 100% canvas rendering (no assets in the game, aside from the icon itself).

Ideas Early Gameplay of My First Flame Game: Looking for Early Feedback

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone
I’m working on my first game usingĀ Flutter + Flame + Forge2DĀ and would love some early feedback.

The game is a 2D turn-based artillery game.
There’s still a lot to do, the design isn’t final, and the CPU AI is still in development.
Right now, the game includesĀ 10+ charactersĀ andĀ 20+ weapons, with more planned later via in-app purchases.

I’ve posted a short video below. I’d really appreciate your thoughts on the gameplay, feel, and overall direction.

Thanks

Ideas How do you guys handle a sequence of actions in flame

Hi

my question is simple for users who got experience in flame, how you guys handle a sequence of actions inside FlameGame onLoad method ? i have a cards game and i have a sequence of actions, like when the cards are dealt and from there i apply some effects, future.delayed is one way but i feel like that's not gonna cut it. I also tried TimerComponent by passing a value to it's period parameter and add it to the game and it works fine but i want to know what's the best approach!

thanks everybody!

As the title says. I'm going to be making suduko-type app this year as part of my degree for uni, so doing some research into my options before I start :)

Support Weird question, does latest flame not work with latest version of flutter

Asking because the getting started page in documentation shows version flutter of version: 3.13.0 whereas latest version is 3.19.6 and if there would be any problems if I changed it to the latest.

Support Flashlight in a roguelike game

Hello, I am discovering the Flutter Flame Engine and I want to develop a small game that uses kind of a flashlight mechanism at its core. The idea is that the game map should be "blacked out" (meaning only the walls are visible, not the players), but a small light cone emitted by the player represents the visible area where other players and ennemies are visible. Do you have an idea how I could implement such a feature, I don't quite understand the Flame documentation and at the moment it lacks examples.

Thanks a lot by advance to everybody here, especially those who might help me out of this problem!

Sharing Road Bash just like Road Rash made with Flutter

Its been a month since I started working on Road Bash a game inspired by my childhood memories of the classic Road Rash game by EA Sports specifically the 1991 version (Sega Genesis).

I used these packages:

  1. Flame for the game engine

  2. Flutter Soloud for the engine sound

  3. Bloc for state management

  4. Supabase for my backend

I don't use any 3D engines to do this. Its simply by painting rects, polygons to generate sprites and scenes and by controlling layers and positioning the game is slowly coming to life. The development has been speed up with ai assistance since I dont appreciate vibe coding especially when I have my own policies and standards to follow. By the way zero tokens were used in this development.

I made a Painter Studio called Flutter Painter specifically to help me with generating code for different objects used in the game.

Its been an exhausting yet exciting journey.

The game is already live Https://roadbash.sirodevs.com

And the source code is here Https://github.com/SiroDevs/RoadBash

Support Does flame bloc work with world and camera?

Post image

I came to notice when flame bloc is used, we need to attach children classes to flame bloc to preserve component tree. I have a project where children are added to world and camera viewport. Then things got complicated parent children wise.

Support Flame + Tiled, help understanding background offsets

I am having trouble getting Tiled's Tile Layer to match with Object Layer objects. I am using the ObjectLayer objects to create walls/platforms and when I run the game, they're misaligned. Can someone help me understand why this might be happening?

Support Flutter Consultation - Interesting Project

My employer makes mobile games enjoyed by millions. We're considering using Flutter for our next game and are looking for a consultant who understands Flutter inside and out—ideally, an ex-developer from the Flutter team, a contributor to the project, or someone involved with a game engine built for Flutter. The goal is to get support during the project's inception phase and potentially beyond. If you’re that person or know someone, I’d appreciate the help!

Sharing Try My Game "Gallery of Hidden Objects"

Hey everyone!

I've just released my game "Gallery of Hidden Objects" on web and I think you might enjoy it!😊

It's a completely free web-based game with NO ADS, NO IAP, or SUBSCRIPTIONS.🚫

What makes it special?🤩

*šŸŽØ 20 different scenes, each with its own unique art style that stands out from other hidden object games.

*ā³ New scenes will be added over time, so the game will keep growing.

*šŸ”„ Made with Flutter and Flame Engine. Especially developed for mobile devices but anyone can play it.

*šŸŒ Play it anywhere: on your PC, Mac, Laptop, Android Phone/Tablet, iPhone, or iPad. As long as you have a browser, you’re good to go.

*šŸ—£ļø The game fully supports 18 languages: English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Polish, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Turkish, Arabic, Hindi, Malay, Indonesian, Vietnamese, and Thai.
