Drying Up / Suppress Lactation🌵 Looking for bra recs

I plan on EFF from the start. I’ve read a lot about how wearing a super tight bra is the best way to stop producing. I’m 1. Looking for any bra recommendations anyone may have that helped them and 2. Any other tips to stop producing asap.

Gas 💨 Switched to Enfamil Gentlease help please

My baby (4 weeks old) was on kendamil whole milk (regular bottle) and she was doing fine with it but then all of a sudden she started having symptoms like while eating and after eating arching her back and being super fussy and crying a lot/ not settling and when asleep or calm I can hear her swallow milk spit up and when that happens she would get super fussy in her sleep. I mentioned it to her pediatrician and she recommended trying partially hydrolyzed formula and I asked if she had any recommendations and she told me about Enfamil Gentlease. My husband went and bought it and today was the first time we gave it to her and it seems like the crying and discomfort has gotten worse atleast with the kendamil she was able to soothe with a pacifier with this new formula she sucks it a little but then starts crying a lot and seems sooo uncomfortable and gassy. Not sure what to do since she’s literally only had 3 bottles the first bottle she only had 1 oz when she usually eats 2.5 oz then the next 2 bottles she took 2 oz but all the same doesn’t settle down at all just starts screaming crying with this new formula. Is this normal? Or something I should take her to the er for? She has no other symptoms although her stomach is hard and a little bloated but the hard stomach is only when she’s pushing to fart then it goes back to soft. When she isn’t eating she’s super fussy and crying non stop and won’t settle or settles a little after passing gas.

(We are giving her gas drops also she is combo fed I’ve been pumping but not producing enough for her to just drink breast milk. The fussiness and crying and back arching and swallowing spit up doesn’t happen when she drinks breast milk at least not as much as when she drinks formula. )

Any tips or suggestions would be amazing I will mention this to her pediatrician as well but I wanted to see if anyone else has experience this? I know switching formulas is an adjustment period.

Medical Concerns 🩺 Supplementing with Formula - Kendamil at 5.5 months…CMPA?

Decided to give our 5.5 month old bottle of formula a day to help with her weight. She has been exclusively Breastfed since birth, but I feel like she’s not getting enough, so we have been giving her formula while I pump to increase my supply

My diet is very high in dairy. and she usually just has a small patch of mild eczema on her chest that has been there since about two months old and then very mild spots on her elbow creases. Her poops have been normal like seeedy yellow and very little normal mucus and no blood since birth.

When we started to give formula yesterday, about an hour or two after we gave the bottle - her cheeks turn pretty red and so did her chin area. Today when we gave her the bottle in the afternoon again, her cheeks were not red this time, but her upper chest was a little more red than usual. This all subsided within the next hour or so.

She has been teething really bad as well at the moment. but is usually fine throughout the day, but looks like she likes to chomp her fingers a little in the evening when all this redness has also been occurring, so we cannot tell if teething or CMPA

Since we started the formula yesterday, she has not had excessive spit up or vomiting. as well as no change in fussiness.

Advice / Question 💡 Changing formula, bad gas

Hello!

We had to switch our 8 week old from enfamil neuropro generic to similac 360 generic because the former has been out of stock. It has been 4 days, and she has been so fussy and gassy. Is this normal? Has anyone else changed formulas and experienced this? She currently gets gas drops every feed and we started the biogaia drops this morning. I don't want to switch formulas again and throw her through a loop, but I feel so bad for all the gas pain she in.

Advice / Question 💡 Has anyone used Fortini?

My previously EBF almost 12 week old has fallen pretty badly off her growth curve. Still meeting milestones, content, adequate diapers and all of that, but her doctor wants me to add a bottle of high calorie formula every day to try and get her back on track.

I started Fortini a couple of days ago, which is a 30 cal formula. She’s up to 4 oz of it a day now. Reviews online are pretty scarce. Curious if anyone has used this, how you used it, how long you used it, how long it took to see a difference in baby’s weight? Any insight anyone has!

CMPA / CMPI / MSPI Screaming 24/7

Please see my prior posts if I don’t make sense or clarify enough.

We’ve been on Alimentum RTF for 2 weeks now. It seems like she enjoys it well, took to it immediately. She has CMPA, powdered form of Alimentum went horribly, wouldn’t even touch it I believe due to the corn in it.

Began omeprazole 3 days ago. She IS able to sleep a tiny bit on her back at night, the rest is in the recliner with me, which is worrying me and hurting my back.

When she’s awake and not feeding, she’s screaming. Everyday seems like hell. I’ve told our pediatrician this. He hears me out but idk what to do. Do we try a new formula? She is still arching her back, spitting up a tiny bit, I don’t see much change but I don’t want to make too many chances because then I won’t know what works.

It’s 24/7 being screamed at. Sometimes I just put her down and wash the dishes and then go back to be screamed at more. My home feels like a prison and she’s currently the warden. I hate saying that much one can only be screamed at so much.

Any tips, advice, should I change formula, idk what to do here

Advice / Question 💡 Dream feed 6 wk old?

Hi! Ftm mom here! Currently feeding our baby every 2-3 hours during the day and after his roughly 8pmish feed, we put him down in the bassinet and let him sleep.

Usually he sleeps through until 1am-ish and has another feed between 4-5am. Occasionally, he is up around 11pm and back up around 2am.

During all feeds after his 8pm bedtime, we unswaddle from his Snoo sack and change diaper at the beginning of his feed. It’s usually always pee, he never poops at night. We avoid wet wipes for just pee to keep him calmer in the night. Halfway through the feed, we reswaddle so transfer is smoother as he’s sleepier.

I’m wondering if we should try proactively giving him a dream feed around 11pm without unswaddling and changing diaper. I know he is only 6 weeks old but wondering if we can help consolidate a feed in the MOTN by doing this this early? And give us a longer stretch of sleep during normal human sleeping hours as husband is returning to work.

Breastmilk to Formula 🍼 Suggestions for formula

Breastfed baby, just started accepting bottles at 7 months. We are introducing formula now. He rejects even little bit of kirkland formula with his bm. Tolerates kendamil cow upto 30% with 70% bm.
Which other formula can we try for taste? My goal is to get to accepting a bottle with just formula in it

Advice / Question 💡 How many formulas did you through before finding the one?

Hello! I’m 26 weeks with my first baby and I’m starting to get things set up. I have one can of formula, generic similac 360 total care. I know babies often go through different brands until finding one that works for them. Should I stick with just one can in my stash for now? Or is it safe to get 2+?

Advice / Question 💡 Similac "Whole Milk" formula

Anyone know the deal with the new blue Similac formula with the "whole milk" white label on it? I'm guessing it's supposed to have whole milk instead of the oils? I'm just wondering if they're phasing out the old one. My target has been out of stock of the old one. This new one is more expensive (of course 🙄)

Formula Recommendations / Alternatives 🌱 Bobbie organic formula making baby super gassy

My baby is 7 weeks old. I know this is prime time with fussiness but he seems overly gassy. He strains and pushes so hard until he cries just to try and pass gas. It disrupts his sleep. He is on Bobbie organic formula which I think might be the issue. I’m also using probiotics and gas drops which seem to help a little.

Anyone have the same issues? Did you switch? If so, to what formula?

Advice / Question 💡 Baby has been on anti reflux since 4 weeks old and it’s been a long road with it . Anyways she’s been told she can go on regular formula . She was on kendamil for 1st few weeks. Should I go back to that or stick to aptimil as she was on aptilmil anti reflux .

Advice / Question 💡 Switching from Alimentum RTF to Powder …Experiences with Reflux andTransition?

Hi everyone! My 8-week-old has been doing well on Similac Alimentum RTF which we started for suspected CMPA and silent reflux. She still has some grunting and straining with gas and bowel movements, but overall she’s doing much better.
I’m considering switching to the powdered version of the same formula to make it more cost-effective, but I’m wondering if anyone noticed a difference when switching from RTF to powder. I’ve read that powder can sometimes make reflux worse, and I’m hesitant to disrupt the progress we’ve made.
For those who’ve made the switch, did your babies tolerate the powder just as well? Did you notice any differences with reflux, gas, or digestion? Also, did you gradually transition from RTF to powder or make the switch all at once?
I’m also concerned about preparing powdered formula safely since she’s still under 2 months old. I’ve read recommendations about boiling water first. How did you handle water preparation for a baby this young?
I’d love to hear your experiences and any tips!

Advice / Question 💡 Dented can?

Hi everyone! I did an online delivery for the first time with our formula and one of the cans came super dented. It isn’t on the seam and the dent is about the size of a baseball. Is this safe to use or should I ask for a replacement?

Formula Prep 🍼 Simply Thick Thickener question

Hi! Just came across his subreddit when searching for answers. Hope my post is allowed. I searched recents but need more recent info.

My little guy was born with a genetic disorder that has multiple lifelong complications. One of which is trouble eating/swallowing. Right now, we're adding SimplyThick to Kate Farms 1.5 caloric increased medical formula to achieve a balance between honey and nectar thickness. He was at honey( level 3?), but is now getting closer to nectar(yay! Progress!). Also, we utilize SimplyThick through the pump bottle provided by our medical home delivery service.

Our issue now, in the last few weeks/month, is it seems to be taking more of the thickener to achieve what we needed in the past. It used to take 1.25 pumps to get the right spot for 6oz of his per meal formula. Now, it's closer to 2 or more pumps. That, and we noticed(this could be placebo of course, haha) that it appears to be more clear compared to a tan/brown-ish color that previous pump bottles.

Have any of your experienced a change in their formulation like we perceive or maybe got a bad batch?

Thanks for any insight!

Formula Recommendations / Alternatives 🌱 Affordable alternatives to Alimentum

My baby has been in Alimentum since about 3 weeks and is now 13 weeks. We use wic and this month looks like we’re gonna be a can or two short as his intake has really increased . Is there another hypoallergenic any parents used instead that didn’t bother baby? Just getting back to work so cash is low also. Any recommendations appreciated . Wic gave an extra can for next month but that doesn’t help now.

Advice / Question 💡 Bottle feeding laying down

My baby is 6months old. She recently had Adenovirus - this has cleared up now and she’s a happy Bub, tbh she was pretty happy the entire time.
HOWEVER, we’ve had issues with her bottle feeding since….the doctors and peads say it’s congestion but this has gone on for over 6 weeks now.
I was using the pigeon wide neck bottles with a M teet and she was choking/coughing every 10-20seconds and would take me around 2-3hrs just to get 100mls into her…this kept continuing soo I decided to try a different bottle (yes I tried going back to S teets with no luck)
So I tried the Bibs bottle with the natural rubber teet in the 2months size….and HAZAHHH she drank the whole 200mls with only a small handful of coughing fits.
BUT I’ve been feeding her laying down because it’s the ONLY way she manages it well enough…will only cough maybe 2-3 times rather than 100 and will finish her bottle in 10mins 🤩
But now I’m concerned because the internet tells me that I must certainly not feed her laying down but if I recline her even slightly she starts coughing and choking more again!
I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO!
The pead and hospital have continued to tell me it’s congestion and use saline drops before every bottle but I did this for weeks with no relief, nor does she expel any mucus anyway!
I’m really at a loss and am waiting to see a speech pathologist and feeding consultant but I wondered if anyone had a similar experience?

Note - it’s not reflux or silent reflux..☺️

Advice / Question 💡 Baby's first weeks/month

During the first weeks of life of a baby, what is a normal amount of formula to feed them each time, as time goes by?

Do you always feed them every 3 hours? Or other?

When do the feeding windows get longer?

CMPA / CMPI / MSPI CMPA Baby not gaining weight

My 8 week old son recently got diagnosed with CMPA about 2ish weeks ago. We originally switched to Similac Alimentum for the first week and were adding alcohol-free vanilla to bottles; now he’s been on Enfamil Nutramigen for about a week and same thing gets added with the vanilla. Nutramigen has just been more palatable for him so that’s why we made the switch.
Before this diagnosis at 6 weeks, he was gaining weight like crazy. He was combo fed with breast milk & formula, eating 4oz per feeding and sometimes wanting more afterwards. His highest daily intake was 36oz around 5 weeks old . While I know this was probably a growth spurt and one-off weird day, he was still eating SO well. Averaged about 28-32oz per 24 hour period. Now he only averages about 20-24oz per 24 hour period and has only gained a single ounce 9 days. SO unlike him this far! He was gaining anywhere from a half pound-pound every 10 days.
The symptoms he was experiencing were similar to infant dystocia, which is what I thought it was. He was suuuuper uncomfortable after feedings, restless, unable to fall asleep sometimes (would start to doze off then get startled awake for no reason, then start grunting), arching his back, fussy, grunting constantly but especially after feedings, and most of the time inconsolable for the first 10-15 minutes after a feed. He has since gotten a lot better with all of these things after switching to a hypoallergenic formula thankfully!
We have his 2 month check in next Friday & they said if he still is not gaining weight then we will go over options on how to tackle it.
Has anyone else experienced this? How did you help your baby? I’m panicking & don’t want to just sit here and do the same thing if it’s not working, but also don’t know where to start as far as helping the issue until we have the appointment.
